  1. Pretty much a spitting image of Jason Rogers. Maybe you could get a similar deal.
  2. My expectations out of a player are going to be more in line with their signing bonus(and if he is HS or college) than where he was drafted. McLanahan should not have the typical expectations of an 11th rounder. Regardless I don't really get that bent out of shape over the early failure of a high school kid.
  3. Josh Hader in the rotation? The guy with a 7.5 BB/9 and a 5.5 K/9 so far at the MLB level? Incredibly small sample I know. However he is sort of proving exactly why he is in the bullpen. Unless he can start limiting walks he won't be getting into the rotation.
  4. Easy to say when you aren't the one dropping $28mil a year for him. It is a giant risk to take on that much money at his age and with all the innings pitched. The Brewers payroll this year is $60M. They could easily take that on. The more money they take on, the less in prospects they have to give up. Seems like a win-win. Using that logic why don't we just wait until the offseason and sign some guy to a 3/$150mil deal in the offseason. It will fit in the payroll of course and he will be gone before it causes any payroll concerns. Then the player hits free agency again and we get him for his last prime years.
  5. I wouldn't trade for Verlander in his current state ever.
  6. Yah, that isn't happening. Unfortunately not even Woodruff era.
  7. Easy to say when you aren't the one dropping $28mil a year for him. It is a giant risk to take on that much money at his age and with all the innings pitched.
  8. The arby raise is a bit overblown. Jean Segura only got $2.6mil his first year. I can't say Villar would deserve much more. Only thing going for Villar is the fact his big year is in more recent memory.
  9. The dude is owed a ridiculous amount of money and isn't all that great. I wouldn't want to depend on him putting up elite stats anymore.
  10. As expected when your replacement is batting .350
  11. He definitely wasn't intended to be the 2B placeholder...we offered him a long term deal. That's pretty obvious. I also doubt we traded for him to be a SS placeholder. He was young with some MLB success when we got him. Why would we trade a prospect for a one year placeholder...not buying that.
  12. I don't really have much of a preference because using it you are looking at a very broad picture. I don't like Baseball Reference when it comes to defense. Sometimes it gives some real head scratching values while Fangraphs seems to be more consistent. However here I usually refer to Baseball Reference as that is what seems to be popular among other posters. Usually there isn't a big difference between the two and it isn't necessary to be incredibly accurate.
  13. Sell high on Sogard? Who's going to give anything of value for a 31-year-old who was signed to a minor league deal with a NRI the off-season before? This small sample isn't fooling anyone - he's a career .312 OBP/.644 OPS player with almost 1500 career PAs. I didn't say he was going to get anything notable.
  14. The is 0% chance he is non tendered. 0%
  15. Jacob Nottingham hitting .340 this month with an OPS around .950. He boosts a pretty respectable line for a catcher overall this year. 22 year old catcher throwing out 43% of runners this year. His defense has made huge strides this year in all aspects. He was a passed ball and error machine last year and both are on pace to dramatically drop. Keeps this up another month and he will be set to rise up my prospects list midseason.
  16. I think you are getting a little too caught up in a grand 14 ABs this year. He couldn't make it past AA as a hitter and was converted to a pitcher. I don't think he will ever be seriously considered as a hitter if he gets to the MLB level.
  17. Extra innings, Braves unkind to Shuckers again on Monday night Jacob Nottingham was 2-for-5 with a homer on Monday night By Biloxi Shuckers Jacob Nottingham is batting .340 so far during the month of June with two home runs (Hunter Reed) Biloxi Shuckers Box Score Quick Summary: Another day another heartbreaker for the Shuckers. Tonight it happened in the 11th inning when Nick Ramirez gave up a solo homer that ended up being the difference maker in a 4-3 loss. On the bright side Luis Ortiz and Jon Perrin both returned from injuries. Offensively Jacob Nottingham continued his torrid hot streak smacking a homerun in the 1st inning while adding a single later in the game. Pitching Summary: On the mound, Luis Ortiz (3.2 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 5 K) started the game while Jon Perrin (3.1 IP, H, ER, BB, K), Josh Uhen (1.0 IP, K), and Nick Ramirez (3.0 IP, 2 H, ER, HR, 4 K) provided the relief. Hitting Summary: Johnny Davis (2-5, SB) Wendell Rijo (2-5, 2B, RBI) Jacob Nottingham (1-2, R, 2 RBI, HR) Biloxi Shuckers Game Log Another heartbreaker in extras. Mississippi Top of the 11th Travis Demeritte strikes out swinging. Jared James lines out to right fielder Michael Choice. Kade Scivicque homers (3) on a fly ball to left field. Jonathan Morales grounds out, second baseman Wendell Rijo to first baseman Dustin DeMuth.
  18. If you want a Lucroy return it would probably take Arcia+Knebel or Shaw+Knebel. I'm not sure their control eclipses their lack of production/track record though. Depends how other teams view Orlando Arcia. I'm guessing his value greatly varies depending on the team you were to ask. I wouldn't trade either of these duos for that kind of package and it may seem unfair, be t that's what happens when you talk about trading guys with little track record. The other team is also taking a risk too.
  19. Going by your system description we have no Tier 1 guys. None of those guys are anywhere close to getting a Lucroy deal by themselves. How is Knebel getting a Lucroy package when Jeremy Jeffress needed arguably the best catcher in baseball in his deal to get such a return? Arcia is mostly still unproven so I don't see how he is bringing back a haul. Thames has been pretty bad since April and has little track record. Anderson also has no track record. I just don't get how any of those guys are close to Lucroy's value. I understand they have a lot of control, but they don't hold a candlestick to Lucroy's production or track record. Barnes and Perez also both seem to be vastly overrated in your tier system. Barnes has no track record and no real good production to show even in a small sample size. I love Hernan Perez, but lets be real here...he has a sub .300 OBP. I can't see any team giving up top prospects for a guy like that even if he is incredibly versatile. Other than that it isn't too bad. We could argue all day about how Guerra is better than Nelson etc., but we will end up with 25 tiers. For clumping them into just a few tiers I would agree for the most part.
  20. Shuckers drop heart-breaker to M-Braves on Sunday Freddy Peralta strikes out nine in his Double-A debut By Biloxi Shuckers Freddy Peralta collected nine strikeouts over 3.2 innings on Sunday at MGM Park (Hunter Reed) Biloxi Shuckers Box Score Quick Summary: Freddy Peralta made his AA debut and while K's were aplenty he only pitched 3.2 innings giving up three earned runs. Freddy Peralta had the stuff to miss bats though recording 9 of his 11 outs via strikeout. It was a tough loss for the Shuckers who lost 7-3 in 10 innings. Matt Ramsey gave up 4 runs in the 10th, but only one of them was earned. Pitching Summary: On the mound, AFreddy Peralta (3.2 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 9 K) started the game while JTravis Hissong (2.1 IP, 1 H, BB, K), Jorge Lopez (1.0 IP, K), Tayler Scott (2.0 IP, BB, 2 K), and Matt Ramsey (1.0 IP, 2 H, 4 R, 1 ER, BB, K, HR) provided the relief. Hitting Summary: Javier Betancourt (2-4, 2B) Blake Allemand (2-5, R, 2B) Jacob Nottingham (2-3, R, RBI, BB) Biloxi Shuckers Game Log Disasterous 10th inning for Shuckers. Mississippi Top of the 10th Pitching Change: Matt Ramsey replaces Tayler Scott, batting 9th, replacing Wendell Rijo. Jonathan Morales grounds out softly, shortstop Angel Ortega to first baseman Jacob Nottingham. Connor Lien called out on strikes. Omar Obregon walks. Jared James doubles (9) on a pop up to second baseman Mauricio Dubon. Omar Obregon scores. Dylan Moore reaches on a throwing error by shortstop Angel Ortega. Jared James scores. Ronald Acuna homers (5) on a fly ball to right field. Dylan Moore scores. Travis Demeritte strikes out swinging.
  21. I am positive they would be really misleading. Would that include the April outlier which at this point we all know was ridiculously higher than what he truly is. That all while an inevitable cold streak happened afterwards also at the same time Braun got injured. Such a small sample size to make that kind of comparison. Thames hot and cold streaks likely had little to no effect due to Braun being near him in the lineup.
  22. When you are a bench bat and only manage 2 hits in an entire month...bye. You can't afford to have such slumps. Successful bench players avoid such slumps. Bandy did not and now he deserves to go.
  23. it's gonna cost almost 2 million to do this. They must've liked Vogt for awhile. Chump change for a team with the lowest payroll that's getting a bump in ticket sales. There has been no increase in attendance. It looks like it will be quite similar. I imagine it could end up a bit higher than last if we are playing in a playoff spot come Aug/Sept, but too soon to say attendance will increase.
  24. I doubt it...that would only save him a few days regardless.
