  1. Can't say I am sad. Funkhouser is nothing special.
  2. Yovani Gallardo had quite a curve in his prime years too.
  3. No...we all know what the Brewers really are. It is no mystery ,barring a total collapse/injury by Lucroy, that he will be gone come August 2nd.
  4. A lot of great/amazing pitchers go in the 6-15 range too. You don't have to draft them Top 5. This wasn't our last chance to get one. Honestly this years Ace crop was pretty horrid. The fact AJ Puk was in the running for the #1 pick is kind of sad. Riley Pint also has major concerns himself. All three of the well known pitchers in the draft could totally flop and I wouldn't even blink. Seriously go look up every draft since 2008(that's where I stopped). Count how many pitchers taken Top 5 that have become Aces. You know how many I counted? ONE. Gerrit Cole is the only one that has been that good and he was selected #1. Heck I think I counted more flat out flops than average MLB pitchers. Historically picking a pitcher Top 5 does not work. Not to mention many prior drafts had way better pitching prospects than this one. It almost always seems that they go 7-15. Why I don't know.
  5. TheCrew: How about you open that data up to maybe the last ten years and you find many players that aren't so amazing stealing 40 bases. You will also find years where 7-10 players were stealing 40 bases. Only using last year as an example is rather silly. Also Jonathan Villar has been a SB threat his entire career. Always on pace for 40+ if given full playing time. It is not a fluke as you are trying to hint at.

  7. I understand your thinking. Do not fault it at all. However, it took more than Laporta for a rental of CC. It also cost Zack Jackson, Rob Bryson and a conditional player to be named later in Michael Brantley... Yah that sounds like something to anger the Ray haters even more. They wanted a cheap ace controllable 6 years in a row. Not to draft an OFer to be a portion of a trade to get 3 months of an ace.
  8. TheCrew: I'm not sure what your point is. If Corey Ray hits .280/.360 he has more than enough speed/skill to steal 40 bases if the Brewers give him the opportunities. That is all I said. If you want to assume he is average I agree something around 20-30 is more realistic. Obviously if he doesn't hit well that won't happen.
  9. Agreed. Who cares if grown men fight? Potential for injury? Meh. Maybe Grienke got injured in a brawl? Can't remember any others. I love brawls. Good fun. Well, sometimes they do get a bit too out of hand. There was the brawl a few years ago where Johnny Cueto ended Jason Larue's career, kicking him in the head. Yah sometimes it gets out of hand...but not enough where I think we need to over think this and hand out fines, suspend managers, and suspend players for a ridiculous amount of games. In all honesty brawls in general are pretty rare for the amount of games played. Then when you consider most are just big screaming fights with maybe a shove it is this tiny grain of sand where punches are actually thrown. It was a brawl, two players went too far, and they got suspensions. I don't see the problem.
  10. Where is he going to go? Back to JuCo?
  11. I wouldn't be surprised if early talks in Lucroy trades have given them confidence to acquire a pitcher. They also could be hitting the draft hard for hitters and then turning to summer trades for a focus on pitchers. If only I could go in Stearn's mind.
  12. Well Feliciano is a lot like Erceg. A guy who may have a lot of offensive upside, but a big question mark. On the bright side we have a good 5-6 to process Feliciano as he is way off from being ready.
  13. Well, Corey Ray makes all acquisitions of an OF trade mute to me. Pass. Think the Brewers still make that trade though. Robles is really good...really good...like really really good. I think you got the point. I don't know what you do if Phillips, Clark, Ray, and Robles all turn into above average OFers, but it doesn't matter. If you get the chance to nab a guy like Robles you don't pass it up. Of course that is without knowing the other offers. In my opinion the Nationals would be crazy to offer Robles and he would be by far the best prospect offered to them for Braun. Whoever wrote that proposal needs to be the Nationals GM.
  14. He isn't really a tweener. Most think he can hit 15-20 homers a year on average. And honestly when he is hitting .280/.360 with 40+ stolen bases he will be good to play anywhere. He's not going to steal 40 bases in MLB, there's a difference between being an elite athlete and having elite reflexes and speed... in some players they go together but I've seen more than my fair share of "athletes" that could only move quickly in a straight line. As in receivers and running backs that were great in track (even all state worthy) but couldn't make a cut on a football field and were essentially useless except on slants and go routes. He could very well steal 40 bases in a season. The only question is if he will get on base enough to do it, where he bats in the order, and the manager. He has all the potential to.
  15. Yes, it reminds me of Packers fans bemoaning Ted Thompson's draft picks all these years. Instantly what I thought of when someone just said this draft was "boring"
  16. Like how we have stocked up on LH bats lately.
  17. Yah don't care about the GPA thing. Being a college athlete can be tough. Even more so if you weren't really one to go to college in the first place which I am assuming is his case. Now if he was out partying every night...that would be more of an issue.
  18. Interesting pick. Have to trust the scouts on this one. He is all about projectability
  19. Preferably a college OF with no scouting report on MLB.com who was unranked by all of the major evaluators. Hoping for a shortstop from college. We need one badly on the fast track to the majors.
  20. I'd rather not be that frugal. We can get good players in those rounds.
  21. Wouldn't mind a guy who projects as wicked bullpen arm. Robert Tyler could be that kind of guy. Also wouldn't mind a pitcher that is advanced and a safer bet to be a mid rotation option. Thats realistically speaking see we don't have a ton of extra money to spend.
  22. Yah don't compare them. There are not any questions about Corey Ray's bat.
  23. Alec Hansen Let me say there are people I would want more, but would they sign would be the bigger question. Wentz is a personal favorite of mine.
  24. From the sounds of it, Brewers have been on him for awhile, my guess is they already have a deal and amount in place for him. My hope is 3.2-3.6 million. Think that is a fair underslot for him. I don't see Brewers picking him if they knew they would have to pay slot. They do that research & the numbers attached. $3.2mil is way too low. At worst I am thinking $3.5mil as I know the Tigers were heavily in on Ray if he fell. If he took less than that I'd be pretty shocked.
  25. As stated multiple times before he is a Top 5 talent see don't expect much of an underslot deal. Might save a little, but not enough to grab some fascinating player that dropped.
