  1. I personally want to see either Groome or Pint if they are available just because I don't think we can get that kind of upside in a Lucroy trade. We need to try and get impact/top of the rotation pitchers into the system. If we don't we are going to be spending good prospects down the road to get one. In the end I guess I don't care as long as Stearns obtains some elite pitching. However if we go through the draft and trade Lucroy without getting that elite pitching I am going to be a bit disappointed
  2. I put a lot of blame on what Attanasio's goal was. I am sure he wanted guys who could go through the minors fast and make a quick impact. Jungmann and Bradley were both projected to do that. Still even then Seid flopped as both took forever to get through the minors and both sucked.
  3. One guy I wouldn't mind seeing with our second or third pick...Alec Hansen. His stuff is ridiculously good and something I'd love to add to the system. Yes I realize there are a ton of red flags(control, delivery), but heck at #44 or in the 2B round why not take the risk? It would be an interesting pick. Even more so if we don't take a pitcher at #5
  4. If you took that as me thinking we should keep Braum I am sorry for the confusion....cause that's incorrect. It seems that's how you were taking it. I was just saying we need to keep the depth for injury reasons since both of our main OFers have missed quite a bit of time.
  5. In non qualified amount of at-bats. He was only using the 8 qualified catchers. Ramos must be just under the required amount of bats.
  6. How much do you want to bet? Do you have Stearns' number? And does he have to retire before he will tell us what he would have done? Only downside to taking Joc straight up is the fact you would be putting all of your eggs in one basket. Not the most common occurrence in trades. So we might have to call it Braun for Joc + Lottery Tickets.
  7. Lucroy will get a Top 40 prospect no doubt. He is just to good and with the extra year of control he has to get a big time prospect. Past that it all comes down to where the dominos fall. There aren't many Top 20 prospects to be had. Looking at some rankings Devers is probably the only likely Top 20 prospect to be had. There is Gallo, but he has been good this year and reports are the Ramgers aren't motivated for a major upgrade. There is De Leon with the Dodgers, but I have a hard time seeing the Dodgers bail on Grandel after a good 2015. I think we are more likely to see a prospect around #30 and just a lot stronger secondary pieces. Could see a big blockbuster trade involving 5-6 players. Important thing is the fact most teams in contention right now are getting horrid production from the catchers position and a lot of those teams have some good prospects. You have to think with the way Lucroy is hitting and the large market for his services that someone will pay up.
  8. Well I mean he is right around the corner. Not surprised they scouted him in person.
  9. Wow Marcos Diplan is going to have some success at the MLB level with that fastball/slider combo. Can't wait to see him develop.
  10. I bet the Brewers would take Joc Pederson straight up for Ryan Braun. Pederson's floor is high and his ceiling is massive. Contact is a concern, but he has the power and ability to walk that makes up for it. At worst you have a solid CF and at best one of the top CF in the game. If he got his contact up enough to hit .250 or so he would be quite a weapon in CF. I would take that risk in a heartbeat. Though I am betting the Dodgers aren't so short sighted to bail out on Joc Pederson already.
  11. The same team that just released an outfielder for $35mil? I doubt they want to invest millions in a new aging injury prone outfielder. Not to mention they have Thompson, Puig, and Pederson. No room for Braun. Braun's better than all 3 and Im hardly a Braun fan. LA dumping Crawford was due to his 464 ops, not because they are loaded with OF talent. I think they are pretty sick of Puig and he might be one of they guys they dump to pick up a real OFer that is less insane. Seager and Thompson are their only two guys OPSing more than 800, they need offense. Still doesn't change the fact they have Puig, Thompson, and Pederson(plus Either soon). There is nowhere to put Braun. Those three main guys aren't going anywhere. At least not yet. Braun may be better(when healthy), but it wouldn't be a big upgrade. They need to upgrade a position they are getting nothing from not a position they are already getting production. A third baseman would be ideal and if it wasn't Chase Utley maybe second base. Everywhere else already has a player well entrenched and not going to be moved. Trading for Braun would be a waste of resources and I do not believe the Dodgers want to add that kind of money. Their new GM is much smarter. Only way it would work is if it were a three team deal and someone was taking Yasiel Puig away from the Dodgers. That is very far fetched though.

  13. I really don't think you are going to get any good if we don't eat any cash. I also question if the White Sox could afford to put his contract on their payroll for this year. $10mil approx. is a lot to take on. Fulmer would be an amazing return for Braun if we took oN a decent amount of money. Then maybe we could get some lottery tickets with him. That would be a dream return in my opinion. I keep hoping someone gets desperate for a bat and gives us something similar to what Cole Hamels got. Though that is probably a pipe dream.
  14. I thought the Tigers were stupid to sign him to that contract...but for Texas to trade for that contract, with the two most valuable years already gone, while giving up Kinsler was dumb on epic proportions. Can't say I didn't see this coming.
  15. Though even with that he still is providing some decent offense since he has so much power. I'd expect over time he will plateau near .300 OBP at worst. Even if his 2015 OBP doesn't return the Athletics still got the controllable power bat they wanted. So hopefully it ends up a win for both sides of the trade.
  16. The White Sox needed a back of the rotation starter and James Shields can be that. Enough money was taken on by the Padres to make him being paid that kind of money too. So at face value it makes sense. They got the back end starter they needed for cheap. Now looking deeper into it I am very worried how James Shields will fair now outside of Petco Park. His stats the last two years have been pretty bad on the road and his stats overall this year are a bit of a concern. I don't really like the deal because of his road stats the last two years, but the White Sox could have this work out for them. As for the White Sox they have the roster to compete. I don't think they need to add on the offensive side and Carlos Rodon needs to pitch better. If those things happen they have the talent to win games. I think they go all in this year and sell the farm. I expect a major trade from them and would not be surprised if Lucroy(mainly) or Braun was it.
  17. Is it not a problem if you need to find ways to get around it? Cause that sounds like a problem. The better question is how big of a problem? I'd lean towards more of a small hurdle to get over, but then again I don't know the details. How much are the Brewers willing to eat? Anything less than the $18m and you may have a bigger problem. What do other teams demand to be paid by the Brewers? Any more than the $18mil and you likely have a big issue. The biggest issue when it come to the NTC is probably going to be money related too. I am not really concerned about him blocking a trade with it, but using it to demand his option being picked up. Suddenly more money has been added to the equation. Does that alter the return or how much the Brewers must pay?
  18. Why would the Padres trade a Top 100 prospect? Where would we put him? To answer your question prospects...and good one(s). Josh Hader maybe if it was an straight one for one swap(Brewers wouldn't do it). Jorge Lopez if he was having a decent season. Trent Clark? Maybe two lesser but still good prospects. It doesn't make a ton of sense to be honest.
  19. He could start to plummet if he gets past #7. At that point the signing bonus starts to get pretty low. It's doubtful he wouldn't sign, but when the bonus starts getting towards $3mil he could just opt to go to college. If he is confident in his skills he could easily go to school and go #1 in a few years. It should be noted he left (IMG?)Academy to go back home to play baseball with his friends. Wouldn't put it past him to go to college for some reason if he isn't happy with where he is drafted. Though even if he goes towards #10 he is probably better off signing.
  20. What these writers/rumors are referring to is his full contract as it stands. Braun at 5/$105(minus what we have paid of it) IS a problem. No one wants him at that and giving up prospects. The Brewers want good prospects so that makes the contract a problem. There has been conflicting reports of whether or not the Brewers would eat money and to what extent. We also don't know how cheap Braun has to be to make teams start throwing around good prospects. Whether or not we think Braun's contract is acceptable etc. really doesn't matter. It is about what other teams think. Braun's value is a hard one to peg with so many issues(age, large contract, many injuries, PED past). It is possible teams are just low balling in these said rumors since it is early in the season. I wouldn't be surprised if the Ryan Braun rumors are super "negative" and someone blows the Brewers away out of nowhere. That or teams get scared away due to all the issues and Braun's market never takes shape. Should be an interesting story to watch as we approach July.
  21. Not really. Just eat the deferred money and the rest of this year's salary and the contract is more along the lines of 4 years/$58 Million with a $4 Million buy out on the 5th year which is far from a problem for his level of bat. I have no problem eating the $18 Million in deferred money and the additional (roughly) $13 Million this year (as of today - by the deadline it'll be well under $10 million) if it means the return brings us back more quality prospects. We can eat that money no problem with how low the payroll on the club is right now. Yes....so the contract is a problem. You just made a big paragraph proving that. Maybe eating that money is a big problem to the Brewers. Maybe $18mil is too much in their eyes. The contract is a pretty big roadblock seeing no team seems to be interested in the contract and giving up good prospects.
  22. Must be a miracle coming from that douche nozzle. He did say it would be hard for us to trade him with his contract though, which I don't really buy for a second. I buy it. If the Brewers want good prospects it could very well could make a trade hard.
