  1. You aren't alone. I like him too, think he is the top OFer, and possibly the best bat available. Still would prefer a pitcher...but won't be too sad getting Corey Ray.
  2. Yah that has been my thought for a couple weeks now. Between the teams you mentioned there is also the Padres who could easily do some underslot magic.
  3. It was reported Groome wants $4mil minimum so we wouldn't/shouldn't have trouble signing him. Also if we fail to sign the #5 guy this year we get next years #6 pick.
  4. Totally agree Paul. I would really prefer a pitcher over an OFer. Also would prefer someone who will project better at their position(Senzel/Collins). Ray/Rutherford/etc. just don't have the ceiling I would personally prefer at #5. However the Brewers scouts probably know more and maybe they think Rutherford is the next great thing. I am fine with that then. However I don't support an underslot deal where they take a guy lower on their board. I want the guy they think is the best.
  5. Lucky to hit 10 homers in a year? Come on now. You are telling me every scout on the planet is crazy and wrong?
  6. Puk, im guessing that he can be had cheaper than Groome Puk because he is a safer pick while still featuring a high ceiling.
  7. Well not exactly. He has a higher OBP this year than last. So that isn't the problem. Also isn't Villar's problem Hamilton sucks.
  8. I think our OF depth is a bit overblown. It is Brett Phillips, Trent Clark..............................................and the rest of the field. Not only that but Phillips isn't having a great season and Trent Clark is really far away. We have more depth in the OF, but I don't think I would be mad if we drafted an OFer. It isn't like we have two Top 50 prospect OFers in AAA.
  9. Agree. So do you prefer Ray Lankford, Charlie Blackmon or Andrew McCutcheon as comp for Corey Ray? Not sure I'd directly compare him to any of those players. He is in that same class of players though. Fringe CFer, great speed(SBs), patience at the plate, good contact, and with 20+ homer power. Does everything well
  10. Just not sure how you can love one and hate the other. Only difference is the fact Ray is a college guy and has a better chance to stay in CF. Corey Ray: Scouting grades: Hit: 55 | Power: 55 | Run: 60 | Arm: 50 | Field: 55 | Overall: 55 Blake Rutherford: Scouting grades: Hit: 55 | Power: 55 | Run: 60 | Arm: 50 | Field: 50 | Overall: 55
  11. #1 Moniak #2 Puk #3 Anderson #4 Pint #5 ? No offense to the Rutherford lovers, but I think he would be bad pick with that board. Actually I think Rutherford is a bad pick period. Everyone complains about Ray not having an elite ceiling, but Rutherford is in that same boat. A guy with good tools across the board, but nothing special. Very similar player to Corey Ray actually. Lewis probably is the only one with a good chance to develop into an elite talent as far as OFers go. I would pick him or the best pitcher available. Maybe a Zack Collins if they want to go underslot. However with multiple teams doing that before them it may be a bad idea unless they truly like Collins outside of his cheap bonus.
  12. You meant second baseman.
  13. Wow, I'm sure Collins is within the range of reasonableness for our pick, but no way am I taking a guy with those college K numbers at #5 overall. Yah I second that. There are plenty of other players we can pick who will save money. I don't think Collins would save as much money as some think.
  14. Rutherford isn't as popular as some think. If he starts slipping out of the Top 10 he could easily become a signability issue. I think it was BaseballAmerica that said the Mets very possibly might be the last team that would take him. If they don't it may open him up to the Phillies second selection. I don't think he would slip that far, but he could slip to a team that can give him $4mil later in the first or comp round.
  15. Going at #10 Zack Collins. Easy pick for the White Sox in my opinion
  16. Diaz and Gatewood are All-Stars, but Allemand isn't? Pretty sad since both of those guys, in my opinion, are having garbage seasons. Look closer to deserving a demotion than an All-Star game.
  17. 1. Groome 2. Puk 3. Pint 4. Ray 5. Collins 6. Moniak 7. Lewis 8. Wentz 9. Senzel 10. Rutherford This would be my board if I was the Brewers. I cautiously put Groome #1 not knowing the extent of the concerns that have many experts causing him to fall. If they truly are a big concern one could knock him off the board. Not knowing I keep him at #1. I probably am higher on Corey Ray than most are, but I think he has a lot of potential with his ability to stay in CF. He has all the tools to succeed. I am not really a Rutherford fan. I don't think he has the skills for me to take him over the college OFers. He may have a higher ceiling, but not enough for me to take the added risk and time on him. I also prefer Moniak over Rutherford due to his defensive upside and still great offensive profile. Should be an interesting day tomorrow with the board all over the place. Not really any clear picks anywhere in the Top 10. Outside of Puk there is no one that we know won't be there at #5.
  18. +1 And Wily Peralta won't complain. this isn't the MILB phantom injuries. An MLB player is supposed to have an injury. It's supposed to be legit. And why won't he complain? Teams use phantom injuries pretty often. It isn't a mystery. I don't think he would complain because the DL is better than a demotion. Rehab games wouldn't be in Colorado most importantly and it at least sounds temporary. They could pull him off the DL and demote him of course.
  19. I don't find it anything notable. Ryan Braun has always been a good PR guy and says the right things. Yeah, that press conference after his positive PED test was thrown out due to a technicality was a good PR move; he said a lot of "right things" that day. Oh good you found the outlier in his entire career. Even then looking back it was a pretty good PR move in my opinion. Got a lot of people believing in his lies etc. At the very least he said all the right things for the circumstances. That is...until he got caught. He is a pretty good PR guy when it comes to talking about the team and his future etc. never a guy to say bad things about his team, teammates, etc etc etc
  20. I don't find it anything notable. Ryan Braun has always been a good PR guy and says the right things.
  21. Joc Pederson is miles better than Carlos Gomez was when we got him. Miles.
  22. Agreed, but one can dream. The biggest problem is the fact the Dodgers probably value him much too highly for his issues. He has really bad control at this point. So the Brewers probably would not sacrifice Bellinger or take a lesser prospect than Holmes(Buehler with his elbow concerns...just throwing out random thought) to get him in a deal.
  23. The Dodgers are a great partner if they want to push Grandel out of the starting job seeing they are loaded with pitching talent. They have De Leon, Holmes, and Buehler just to name a few. I imagine Bellinger would be an attractive target for the Brewers too. The Dodgers have the need and prospects to get a trade done. This is the kind of deal I would like to see even if we have to add more on our side. Gives us an elite pitcher, two players on positions of need who look promising, and a high reward lottery ticket. Alvarez could complicate things as the Dodgers paid him $16mil already in the form of a bonus. So they may value him too much because of that. Lucroy for Grant Holmes Cody Bellinger Yadiel Alvarez Kyle Farmer It may sound weak at face value, but Holmes/Bellinger are both still on the rise and Alvarez has big time potential.
