  1. No way. That just looks depressing.
  2. Gomez is 110% hitting the open market and not going to be had for $15mil a year. Extending Gomez would be stupid. He is getting old and likely to decline pretty fast. His speed/defense value will deminish fast. Extending Lucroy makes even less sense. No thanks...
  3. I don't think Parra has ever been considered just an average defender. He's a gold glover. He is average or slightly above average to avoid argument...He is not close to what he was 2-3 years ago.
  4. The Brewers 3 main trade chips get it done in the first!
  5. That man can change his mind quickly...I mean what is his definition of a rebuild to him? Trade Parra and a mid tier FA signing? I thought they were looking to part with Gomez this deadline, but now reports are that they are asking for the moon. While that isnt unheard of before the deadline only to come down I really wonder what the plan is here. I guess we will know in a couple of days
  6. Keeping Parra is way too risky. He would have to keep up his current production just to even consider a QO...which is already unlikely. Then you have to risk the QO and hope a team wants to go 5+ years on an average defender who before this year was average at best with the bat. I don't see it to be honest. It is possible, but not even close to be worth the risk. We will get a decent prospect that is just as good as a comp round guy.
  7. Doug Melvin mentioned the pitchers market usually comes first. Teams always seem to be worried about that and then focus on the offense second. So that should be important to note.
  8. You can do whatever you want with Doug Melvin, but the real problem is Attanasio. He feels the need compete every year and that is why we hold on to players too long, sign aging pitchers, and in the past a weak farm system. That is all to blame on Attanasio. Hard to find an ace when drafting mid 1st round every year.
  9. There are still 3 days left guys. Now is the time where teams know if they can't get players. The Angels getting 3 OFers isn't a bad sign for Parra, it means we are moving closer to his landing spot. The Angels were outbid and the list is that much smaller. Outside of him we have bulllpens arms who aren't a huge concern. Lots of teams will be going after them on the 31st. You have Lind who now has the injury concerns, but execs think he will be traded so that is a good sign. Carlos Gomez is a total crap shoot...either you get the right deal or not. Deals can come together very fast for him. Then the Blue Jays still haven't gotten a starter so Fiers to them is still entirely possible. There are more holes than there are players to be traded. 3 days is a very very long time and it happens to be the busiest 3 days there is. If we are sitting here on Friday at noon and still twiddling our thumbs then we should probably be concerned. ^That picture is halarious though.
  10. That would be a solid REALISTIC return for Gomez. Maybe they can have Cotts or Broxton too. Go for it all and go Wheeler, Matz, Nimmo, and Smith for Gomez, 2 of Krod/Cotts/Broxton, and Segura or Parra They won't trade Matz so maybe: Wheeler/Conforto/Smith for Gomez/Will Smith/Parra/Segura
  11. Can you name one time he even had an opportunity? He is just Attanasio's puppet.
  12. That would be a solid REALISTIC return for Gomez. Maybe they can have Cotts or Broxton too.
  13. I don't know why you guys are just assuming we had a shot at these pitchers. One was traded for the biggest SS name in MLB, one was traded for a super utility player, and another was acquired in an odd salary dump deal. The first two we don't have and the last one probably isn't even worth the price tag they paid. Do these pitching rich teams even want our players? Do they value them that highly and WANT to give up those pitchers? It's like everyone saw us connected to the Blue Jays and are now assuming we passed up on Hoffman. I don't get it.
  14. I am sure certain ratings might be weighed more...but Demi is a confusing one if you look at his.
  15. Hopefully not posted yet... Orlando Arcia jumps to #14 overall and the #6 SS. Click to see who made their debut at #86: http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2015?list=mil
  16. I was a bit concerned with this, but asking prices can drop dramatically at the deadline. They may be just playing the market trying to get teams to truly give them their best offer just to pounce on one on Friday. They should not necessarily want to trade him or be motivated to, that just makes teams think you value them less. Or you know...Attanasio doesn't want to trade away a popular player with 1.5 years left.
  17. Yup and everyone will want him. They then will complain when our team is filled with low OBP high strike out guys.
  18. That would be a fine player. Even more so because he plays CF if I remember right.
  19. That was just stupid by the umpire. From what was shown he never said a word to anyone nor looked at anyone as he walked off the field. Fine him, sure. But the ejection was totally uncalled for. It reminds me a lot of the time Greinke got tossed for spiking the ball. In that case after the fact people didn't like it because he was mad at himself not the call. The Gomez one is a little trickier. The rule to my understanding is that you can't argue a reviewed call...I guess chucking your helmet isn't necessarily arguing so maybe it was ok in that sense. Though I think he can be ejected for throwing equipment so in the end it is still acceptable to eject him even though most umpires ignore that stuff unless directed at them. I was more ticked they ejected him when he threw the helmet by the dugout. In the middle of the field I see the issue...but right by the dugout? I would have left it alone personally and let the game go on.
  20. If we are adding guys like Cargo I might as well go cheer for a different team.
  21. Just what we need, Arcia getting a taste for power numbers. Then he will swing for power and not average. No thank you. We better have a good hitting coach in place so he stays the way he is.
  22. One thing to consider...Tulowitzki is a marketing giant while Braun is light years below him. The excitment in Toronto is probably ridiculous despite what many believe is a not so great trade for them. With Braun you won't have that marketability. I think this is a sign that it will not happen. The return wasn't great for Tulo...what on earth would the Brewers get for someone worth quite a bit less? Probably not enough for them to consider trading him. This may be a sign that he is tradable...but the value not near as much.
  23. He didn't stay in the dugout too long. Honestly it was just as long as anyone else who gets ejected. They stay to watch the manager light up and then usually stay a little bit longer before leaving. The only thing different is the fact he went and got a drink very casually...which actually was pretty funny.
  24. It isn't the fact that he attempted the steal...but the fact he didn't have a good jump/lead and had a good chance of getting caught. With DP Lucroy coming up it wasn't the worst idea....but not something you do if have a good chance of getting caught. The rest is laughably overblown because it is Gomez. Lucroy was hitting before Gomez last night, so although he's hit into a ton of double-plays this season, he was in no threat to ground into a game-ending double-play last night. I swear he came after but I was following online. Must have had things backwards.
