  1. I would hate that. I don't see any way the return on a Perkins trade would be near to the value he brings to the Brewers by being on the team.
  2. RIP Seitzer The Parakeet. Ex let it escape the house over the summer.
  3. Matthew, I've got to give credit where it's due. "He took to it like a barfly to Thin Lizzy" That right there is some great stuff. Interesting write up overall. I'm not so sure how I feel about DeJong, however I did find this one particular set of splits from last year to be interesting. Read into it what you will. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.fcgi?id=dejonpa01&year=2024&t=b#power ETA: I'm talking about his splits on power vs finess pitchers. I have not had success importing tables from baseball reference, sadly.
  4. If Bregman suddenly craters in his 30s the way Rendon did then I'm all for the cubs signing him.
  5. Agreed. Personally, I'm hoping for a Best Shape Of My Life quote from him 😀
  6. Hard to say with Freddy. Nothing saying you have to trade every player on an expiring contract, especially if you're contending which I am optimistic that the Brewers will be in '25 and '26. I was so sad when Ax's comeback with the club got wrecked by injury. That was an awesome feel good story in the making which we were all denied.
  7. At this point I expect LAD to sign a bunch of expensive MLB players to high dollar minor league contracts to hedge against any injuries or underperformance. Their AAA affiliate would be capable of winning any division aside from the NL West.
  8. Meanwhile in Alaska we've been above freezing, the snow's all gone, sled dog races have had to be postponed, and travel, especially driving or walking, is far less than ideal due to there being glare ice with water on top of it everywhere. What a dumb winter.
  9. Case in point, there were no game related posts here for the national title game. Because who cares.
  10. Thanks to all who have posted links to stories, tributes, calls and everything in this thread. I haven't played any of them yet, but I'll come back to this thread and have a look, perhaps on opening day. Right now I'm just a little too sad.
  11. Reading your story makes me want to float all the way across North America and chuck a slice of Cheese Mountain pizza at her. But then again, remember that the wheel always comes around. She'll get hers one day if she doesn't grow up and learn to be considerate of others.
  12. That's what I was thinking too. The dropoff was very obvious as soon as the neck injury happened. He had I believe around an .830 ops prior to the neck thing. After the neck I think it took about 6 or so weeks before he got another HR, and basically wasn't able to do much else at the plate either.
  13. Fascinating, I had no idea Najeh Davenport had taken up baseball.
  14. Several years back I was feeling nostalgia and remembering different tidbits of programming from my childhood and youtubed the pinball machine counting video. Instantly I recognized that it had to be the Pointer Sisters. I'm thankful I grew up when I did, even if that means being over the hill now. We had some cool things.
  15. I can only assume the staff had watched that Seattle game the week before and just assumed the Bears were incapable of doing anything to help themselves win. Side story, Dad bowls with Gary Cannalte (former weather guy in Madison for those unfamiliar) and was going to rib him a little after that Seattle game. Gary's a chicago guy originally. I told him be careful with that one, watch the Bears come beat us in Lambeau next week.
  16. It’s funny when you think about it, losing to Minnesota is what cost them a National Championship
  17. A little. But even the best of decisions can still potentially blow up in your face. That's what I'm always hoping happens for the cubs.
  18. I'm looking forward to the last few years of this deal where the Brewers are getting superior production from some kid that's in elementary or middle school right now, than the Mets are getting from Soto. For about $50 million a year less.
  19. I feel the same way about Craig Yoho. I'm hoping he comes out to the March of the Winkies from the Wizard of Oz.
  20. It's a shame he never once led the league in HBP.
  21. At one point on here years back, somebody used Walsh as a verb to describe a batter refusing to swing, and mentally it's stuck with me to the point where I still think of it as "Walshing it" when someone stands there while strike 3 goes straight down the middle.
  22. After some thought I've come up with some ideas for this. Golden batter once per team per series, and same applies for the yang to its yin, the golden pitcher. Both must be declared prior to the series start. The golden pitcher can operate outside of the restrictions of the minimum batter rule, and doesn't impact the pitcher he replaces nor his own eligibility for the rest of the game if he only faces the golden batter. One caveat though, in order to use the golden batter or pitcher, he must have cut an 80's pro wrestling style promo on the other team's golden player, brother. Aside from that, I like all of Underachiever's ideas. Particularly the Designated Goon. So many great potential candidates, including some sneaky under the radar low-cost ones for a cash strapped team like the Brewers.
  23. I HATE the ghost runner.
  24. I haven't watched a Jets game broadcast from MetLife in I don't know how long. If I attended a game there (which I never would) I'd probably have nightmares from the PA carrying on. So obnoxious even with the sound turned down.
