  1. Mmm, haven't had Buck's in 30 years. Pizza Oven has recently closed. Is Buck's pizza the same as Buck's Bar? No it's just a little take out pizza place on Cottage Grove road (East side of Madison.) Their pizzas are thin, cut in squares. Not the same as Steve's but somewhat similar.
  2. Another one I just remembered: Borner Farm Project, Prescott. They're only open 1 night/week, during warmer weather months. General idea is they grow/raise all the ingredients, and cook one night a week on wood fire. People buy their pizzas and picnic on the farm. Only went once, and it was kind of silly in a way, as it sort of had a rock concert vibe to it if that makes sense. The pizza was ridiculously good though.
  3. A couple others I'll add: Superior- Thirsty Pagan Brewing Madison- Buck's (take-out only)
  4. Steve's in Platteville.
  5. That’s where I’m at although I’m suspecting my body would forbid it by the time I have the time. For anyone who’s been there, what’s roughly the median age?
  6. Agreed on Jinks. Didn’t know about the two upcoming, something else to look forward to. Turnpike Troubadours and Chris Knight are a couple others worth the listen. I listened to Sturgill’s latest, it was kind of bizarre. But I’m going to definitely give the album a chance.
  7. I was looking forward to Tyler Childers new album for months. It dropped on 8/2 and I made it a big point to get on WiFi and download that thing. His debut album killed and number two named Country Squire...if you enjoy anything country you’re going to love it. My special lady wiggled her hips to the first track and I’ll never forget the moment as long as I live.
  8. No kidding. If you like bluegrass his old stuff with The Steeldrivers is great too.
  9. I’ll chime in. Regarding country I agree with what’s been said about modern “country” but the stuff that is current and popular is mostly pop music for kids. There are some great current artists in the genre. For anyone looking for something current but meaningful or at least original and well made I have a few suggestions. Sturgill Simpson, Chris Stapleton, Brent Cobb, Tyler Childers, Jason Isbell and Margo Price. All current and worthwhile. I should warn that Tyler’s lyrics on a few tracks detail some high risk behavior some might find inappropriate. I certainly wouldn’t play it at work.
  10. On Saturday we finished out the series Longmire. If you're into westerns and/or crime drama, be forewarned, it's fairly addicting.
  11. Thanks Game, that helps somewhat. For me, I don't see getting a full blown rig that would run an Oculus or the like. My understanding is that it would take a pretty respectable computer to do it. It'd be an investment and we don't have a ton of room. I think we'd have fun with the VR even if we couldn't play head to head. It will also be important not to need wifi since we don't have it at home, and even if we did, the wifi where I live is very expensive, somewhat slow with limited bandwidth and it is metered stingily. I'm hoping I'd be able to take the unit with me to work from time to time to download games or updates after hours. That or purchase games at the store.
  12. Thanks. I'm assuming at least if one person is using the vr the other can see what they are seeing on the tv screen hopefully? Also, this might sound silly, but if there are any vr gamers here, is injury or property damage a big concern? I see the Creed: Rise to Glory game being hyped and that sounds cool but then I think what if one of us gets disoriented and puts their fist through the picture window.
  13. I've been doing some research on VR ever since my girlfriend and I played once this last fall and had a fun time. Neither of us are gamers but I think something that got us up off the couch and moving and competing and/or being teammates would be a lot of fun. I see the PS4 vr system gets good reviews. Can you run more than one headset off of one console for the games?
  14. There are tons of Alaska based reality tv shows, and most of them don't accurately reflect Alaskan life. Many are a complete joke, and I can tell you hardly anybody here watches them-except for one. If you are going to watch an Alaska show, the one to watch is The Last Alaskans. It is very captivating if you are into shows about wilderness and life.
  15. Great movie. Sgt. Oddball "I'm drinking wine and eating cheese, and catching some rays, you know...." always cracks me up.
