  1. Over the weekend I created probably my best homemade pizza ever, and happened to be using naan bread for the crust. The thing I did differently is I cut up I believe 6 cloves of garlic and slow and low cooked them in olive oil until tender and sweet. Topped the pizza with the garlic, some minced pickled jalapenos, thick slices of Johnsonville Italian meatballs, and thick sliced mushrooms. Drizzled the top with the garlic oil from the pan. It was ridiculously good.
  2. This is not the most relevant point to mention regarding Cal Eldred. But I have this recollection of hearing in maybe '93 that part of Cal's routine was, on the day he was scheduled to start he would eat nothing but a giant stack of pancakes. I always thought that was a pretty ridiculous thing for an athlete to eat purposefully. I will always have a soft spot in my heart for that 92 Brewers season. It was such a special season in so many ways.

  4. Of course the pizza thread comes to life on a fasting day ? Now I just might have to make a trip to Moose's Tooth when I fly to Anchorage this weekend.
  5. Correct they do not. I think only when there's been a #163 tie breaker, those did.

  7. That's been my hope for a while now. It may be petty of me, but whatever. I hold grudges in sports. I want nothing more than to be the team that ends the cards' season, and ends the careers of however many of them are going to hang it up. I want to see Williams strike out Pujols for the last out of the elimination game and leave him stuck on 699. I want to see thousands of crying red and white cobras.

  9. I'm certainly not going to count on the cards for any help. Best bet is for Milwaukee to go on a tear right away here and get ahead of SDP before they know what hit them, then get them pressing. That would be fun...

  11. Maybe that's why they got Rosenthal too ?
  12. The suitcase thing was the only thing that bothered me because it was, in my opinion, such a laughably bogus story. The other things (missing out on the big payday, wanting to play for a contender)I think people went way overboard on, as I didn't see it as him complaining so much as him being asked questions and giving an honest and reasonable answer, even if it wasn't what we as Brewers fans might have wanted to hear.
  13. I get what you're saying, but I'm not entirely convinced that the defensive metrics really quantify Rowdy's game in the field. One particular thing Tellez does an excellent job with is handling inaccurate throws and turning them into outs, and it takes a really bad throw to get by the guy. He routinely picks all kinds of stuff Prince likely wouldn't have even gotten a glove on. There is a huge amount of unsung value in that ability.
  14. I enjoyed Night Sky on prime, I hope they make a season 2.
  15. Not necessarily new, but the first time I watched it, Here's a link to a pretty much perfectly done Isbell & 400 concert.
  16. You're right that match couldn't be good. Austin was never anywhere near the same after Owen messed up that piledriver on him, and that was what 25 years ago now?
  17. I agree that the pre-cooked, pre-formed puppy kibble looking sausage is garbage. I’m talking about pizza made with raw Italian sausage, pinched and placed by hand. To me that blows out of the water whatever a pepperoni pizza is trying to be. I’ll admit I like the two together pretty well (even with bad pepperoni) but pepperoni as the only meat topping to me is flimsy and boring. Pizza as a food is generally not very healthy or friendly to the waist line. So when I treat myself to it it needs to be good.
  18. Apparently this is an unpopular opinion I have. Every pizza ad I see on tv shows a pepperoni pizza. In my book, Italian sausage is vastly superior to pepperoni as a topping. I know there does exist high quality pepperoni and I like it well. But the vast majority of pepperoni is basically large diameter thinly sliced Slim Jims. Good sausage brings so much more to a slice of pizza than pepperoni does.
  19. The other thing I don’t get is why they would even want to put the animal through all that stress before slaughter. The meat of a stressed animal will not be nearly as good to eat as a result of different chemicals released by the body. Adrenaline, lactic acid, and so forth. Any hunter knows. Basically to me it’s making a big show of sabotaging the food.
  20. This morning I got up early to hunt birds on the tundra. Figured I’d stream the Badgers game replay later. Fast forward to present, my belly is full of white front (speck) goose breast. A fresh fall bird that’s been eating tundra blueberries for a month and a half, grilled medium rare-rare. There are few better things. I hear the Badgers game wasn’t too good but it was a great day.
  21. Apologies if I have missed this somewhere in the thread. For those who stream via MLB.tv, how many gb would you estimate you use for a typical game, say 3 hrs? Also, it's somewhat ambiguous regarding postseason. It says you can live stream all star and world series but no mention of the other postseason games. Should I interpret that as the playoff games are not included?
  22. He was also the fake Diesel when Hall and Nash were in WCW/NWO. Hence Kane's nickname Big Daddy Dentist.
  23. These wrestler biographies they’ve been showing on A & E I find absolutely fascinating. I don’t think a person needs to be a fan to enjoy them to some degree. The one they did on Andre was great.
  24. The ice going out is mesmerizing. Huge chunks floating past mixed with churning needle ice makes for a pretty song. Halibut tacos were dynamite.
  25. It’s a beautiful warm spring day. The Kuskokwim has broken up and the chunks of ice are tinkling their way out to the ocean. So far no jams or floods, which seemed a near certainty a few weeks ago with the immense snow load this winter brought. Will be grilling halibut tonight in celebration of the end of a long week.
