  1. I think Marlins fans will be scratching their head on this one a couple years from now. They definitely paid up for Burger's control.
  2. At the time was more so meaning it is irritating that we have to move salary (even though it was deadweight) to fit in the relatively small additional payroll we added. I just feel like it is a direct contrast to Mark Attanasio's public quote. I am paraphrasing here but it went around the lines of "we're not afraid to add salary at the deadline" Now after hearing from Arnold it seems like this wasn't a payroll motivated trade. We really like Blalock and I bet we will be aggressive moving him in the system and getting him in the lab.
  3. Whose salary would it be? Chafin? Canha was paid down to the league minimum lol. But hey remember when our owner said adding salary at the deadline was not a problem. Urias stunk so I am not upset about the deal itself just the principle of things surrounding the money.
  4. As far as I am concerned I have seen nothing from Stearns in recent memory that makes me sad about this "news"
  5. Good riddance to Urias. I am loving the Matt Arnold experience so far. Another one of Stearns' poor deals that he could turn around.
  6. I get that it is a sellers market, but they aren't getting more than we did when he is a free agent in 2 months and we traded over a year of control
  7. At cost I'd prefer Canha since I think it would take a lot less. While it is smart to take advantage of a poor org. like the A's. Rooker is their biggest tradable chip on the roster and it seems likely this season will be an outlier in his career.
  8. Nobody in baseball in the past 10 years have traded a prospect of Chourio's caliber outside of Yoan Moncada... And that was the notorious farm seller Dombrowski. It is just not happening especially for Ha Seong Kim.
  9. The brewers easily could have traded for Ohtani with their prospect capital. Given that he is a free agent and will most likely get close to 500 million it would be the most foolish trade in the history of baseball though. I agree with Jake the only player I would trade Chourio for would be Acuna and his absolute steal of a long term contract.
  10. This is a lotto ticket of course there is talent. They probably see something in his profile though which makes it easier to give him up. They are not giving up a young promising player because they have too much talent in the lower levels that would be absolutely idiotic lol. Especially for a 37 year old rental. This FO is one of the smartest in the game.
  11. Wow cannot believe Santana is 37 now. Time flies. Should have probably just took a flier on him in the offseason, but oh well have to trust our self scouting. We usually don't trade teenagers unless there is an apparent flaw
  12. I think the only possible "needle mover" for us with a reasonable price will be Teoscar Hernandez. But given the mess that is the AL will the Mariners even be sellers? I think there are a lot of dancers looking for help but not that many partners at prom this year. Please don't be disappointed though when we only add a middle reliever and that is all.
  13. That wasn't part of the original trade though. So for how condescending you're being about the deal that perspective is just not accurate. The original deal was pretty terrible value for all intents and purposes. Rogers torpedoed high leverage situations himself. Lamet was just an absorbed contract (more negative value for a small market). A lot has to be seen with Gasser still. Great shape to the slider but he is walking too many batters for my liking this year. Ruiz was arguably the centerpiece and he is just an awful ballplayer overall outside of stealing bases. The work Matt Arnold put in this summer completely saved it from a PR disaster. He took advantage of the league "taco" and now we can look back on the trade as a success. The original deal is far from it though.
  14. This was a difficult deadline. No needle movers and the farm arguably gets worse. Idk I’m one that hates the purgatory that is mediocrity in sports. Overall I’m confused with the direction here. Especially with Faria and Black starting in the minors? I’m just frigging puzzled.
  15. I totally get the name of the game is clicks and journalistic integrity is all but dead. But man it’s still irritating and frankly disappointing when he darn well knew what he was doing on today of all days.
  16. I like Ray Black. I think they’re solid tools there to work with. But you have to really believe in those 5.1 innings out of the pen from Pomeranz. My problem is with Robert Murray. He really caused blue you know whats with his wording.
  17. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined
