  1. We made that deal because we are cheap lol. There's no way Chourio signs those terms if he wasn't from an impoverished nation. I appreciate the commitment the Brewers gave him but lets not act like it wasn't taking advantage of the situation. Especially IF he hits his ceiling as one of the best players in baseball. If not well he made a heck of a deal for himself. I would say he is more likely to be on the "losing" end of the bargain than the Brewers are. But I am getting off topic now. I personally am not a fan of helping out the Mets and Stearns. Which is what this deal does.
  2. So a SP that profiles as a back of the rotation starter that recently had Tommy John and is gonna be Rule 5 eligible. Yup this was purely a salary dump. Gross gross gross.
  3. I doubt Roman Anthony, Teel, or Mayer are on the table for a rental. What about a package of these guys? A couple lotto tickets with the centerpiece being Bleis. We also drafted Mata who has since had his health issues but he still has a pretty good fastball. Profiles more as a RP. Admittedly I don't know too much about their system outside of the top guys. Luis Perales SP Bryan Mata SP Miguel Bleis OF Yoeilin Cespedes SS
  4. Looked into this source and they actually were the first to be on Martin Perez signing with the Pirates. Maybe dumb luck, but maybe they know something. Anyway it is fun to speculate on the return whenever specific teams get named.
  5. Jackson Chourio Arguably the best prospect in BaseballJeferson Quero Loved Quero from his time in Wisconsin. This is a true breakout. Elite glove and bat is starting to show what it can do Sal Frelick Already tearing up the MLB with elite contact skills Tyler Black Elite eye with power really beginning to show up. Dollar store Votto that has exploded this year. Jacob Misiorowski One of the nastiest pitchers in the minors. Have concerns about his high effort delivery. The stuff speaks for itself though. TOP 100 arm but some reliever risk Robert Gasser Mid rotation arm with good shape to fastball and slider. Back end top 100 most likely. Needs to consistently throw strikes but will be a mainstay in the rotation for years to comeBrock Wilken 1st round pick off to promising start in Appleton. High power potential and see a little Austin Riley in him. Luis Lara Switch hitting 4 tool player. Hopefully the power comes but watching him he has a little thunder in his bat waiting to tap into. Carlos F Rodriguez Exciting season for Rodriguez. Numbers are eyepopping. Hope they challenge him in AAA soon. Abner Uribe He'd be top 3 if he had an ounce of control. Long as he throws strikes he is extremely tough to hit. +++ fastball Cooper Pratt Favorite pick in the draft. Think there is a really special lump of clay to develop. Power will come with his frame and he is a phenomenal fielder with good bat to ball skills. Josh Knoth Great FB for a smaller guy in stature and the curve is absolutely filthy. Love young guys with a feel for that pitch. Eric Brown Jr I have concerns about the power. Watching EBJ he looks the part. Good eye very selective sometimes too much but the lack of power I thought would be there has not shown up still a slick fielder and runner. Eric Bitonti Think there is some swing and miss concerns but the 6'4 frame is something you can dream on with his power potential. Saw video out of the ACL and he looks a bit like a young young belli. Mike Boeve Off to a red hot start. I wonder if the power stroke is legit. Even if it isn't it is a high contact guy with a great eye at the plate. We take those in Milwaukee. Yophery Rodriguez LIGHTING up the DSL. Could this be another Chourio? Cannot wait to see him stateside. He hits the ball where its pitched and hits it farRobert Moore Bob Moore is a fun player and a total gamer. Never will a superstar but maybe a super utility man. He lives and breathes the game and you can see it in person. Guy just grinds. I like players like that. Bradley Blalock From the Urias trade I do not know much or have not seen him. Arnold says he is one of the best pitching prospects in our system and I will take his word on it. Luke Adams Ugly Ugly Ugly swing. But hey as long as it works right the EV numbers are elite in A ball along with FB%.Logan Henderson Was between Henderson and Aquino. I like henderson and I think his stuff will play. Leads A ball in Ks since All star break.
  6. I think Marlins fans will be scratching their head on this one a couple years from now. They definitely paid up for Burger's control.
  7. At the time was more so meaning it is irritating that we have to move salary (even though it was deadweight) to fit in the relatively small additional payroll we added. I just feel like it is a direct contrast to Mark Attanasio's public quote. I am paraphrasing here but it went around the lines of "we're not afraid to add salary at the deadline" Now after hearing from Arnold it seems like this wasn't a payroll motivated trade. We really like Blalock and I bet we will be aggressive moving him in the system and getting him in the lab.
  8. Whose salary would it be? Chafin? Canha was paid down to the league minimum lol. But hey remember when our owner said adding salary at the deadline was not a problem. Urias stunk so I am not upset about the deal itself just the principle of things surrounding the money.
  9. As far as I am concerned I have seen nothing from Stearns in recent memory that makes me sad about this "news"
  10. Good riddance to Urias. I am loving the Matt Arnold experience so far. Another one of Stearns' poor deals that he could turn around.
  11. I get that it is a sellers market, but they aren't getting more than we did when he is a free agent in 2 months and we traded over a year of control
  12. At cost I'd prefer Canha since I think it would take a lot less. While it is smart to take advantage of a poor org. like the A's. Rooker is their biggest tradable chip on the roster and it seems likely this season will be an outlier in his career.
  13. Nobody in baseball in the past 10 years have traded a prospect of Chourio's caliber outside of Yoan Moncada... And that was the notorious farm seller Dombrowski. It is just not happening especially for Ha Seong Kim.
  14. The brewers easily could have traded for Ohtani with their prospect capital. Given that he is a free agent and will most likely get close to 500 million it would be the most foolish trade in the history of baseball though. I agree with Jake the only player I would trade Chourio for would be Acuna and his absolute steal of a long term contract.
  15. This is a lotto ticket of course there is talent. They probably see something in his profile though which makes it easier to give him up. They are not giving up a young promising player because they have too much talent in the lower levels that would be absolutely idiotic lol. Especially for a 37 year old rental. This FO is one of the smartest in the game.
  16. Wow cannot believe Santana is 37 now. Time flies. Should have probably just took a flier on him in the offseason, but oh well have to trust our self scouting. We usually don't trade teenagers unless there is an apparent flaw
  17. I think the only possible "needle mover" for us with a reasonable price will be Teoscar Hernandez. But given the mess that is the AL will the Mariners even be sellers? I think there are a lot of dancers looking for help but not that many partners at prom this year. Please don't be disappointed though when we only add a middle reliever and that is all.
  18. That wasn't part of the original trade though. So for how condescending you're being about the deal that perspective is just not accurate. The original deal was pretty terrible value for all intents and purposes. Rogers torpedoed high leverage situations himself. Lamet was just an absorbed contract (more negative value for a small market). A lot has to be seen with Gasser still. Great shape to the slider but he is walking too many batters for my liking this year. Ruiz was arguably the centerpiece and he is just an awful ballplayer overall outside of stealing bases. The work Matt Arnold put in this summer completely saved it from a PR disaster. He took advantage of the league "taco" and now we can look back on the trade as a success. The original deal is far from it though.
  19. This was a difficult deadline. No needle movers and the farm arguably gets worse. Idk I’m one that hates the purgatory that is mediocrity in sports. Overall I’m confused with the direction here. Especially with Faria and Black starting in the minors? I’m just frigging puzzled.
  20. I totally get the name of the game is clicks and journalistic integrity is all but dead. But man it’s still irritating and frankly disappointing when he darn well knew what he was doing on today of all days.
  21. I like Ray Black. I think they’re solid tools there to work with. But you have to really believe in those 5.1 innings out of the pen from Pomeranz. My problem is with Robert Murray. He really caused blue you know whats with his wording.
  22. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined
