  1. Woody is cooked. Really sad. He should get into coaching he would be amazing in that role. Contract stinks sure but it isn't a multi year and not really the time to talk about it.
  2. Just a disgusting amount of hard contact that the bullpen has given up so far this year.
  3. So man sinkers to opposite handed hitters this year. Always an incredibly stupid pitch call.
  4. You guys are falling for a Chinese fake jersey facebook account lol. But yes that still isn't low enough.
  5. Good lord are those pants tight! It's gotta be like a division sign down there.
  6. I just don't think DL is very good and is not someone for leverage situations. That is probably why we have not seen him very much lately.
  7. While player dev isn't linear, that low Z-contact is a marker I hate to see. However, the fact that his contact rate and SLG are rising in tandem over the last two weeks is a great sign. Here is hoping that the quality and rate of contact is steadily improving as he settles in. I just need to see the contact rate stabilize in the 70% range before I'm ready to call him a Top 100 candidate. I also need to conceptualize the difference in player from last year to this year. It is night and day. He is really really interesting. Still, his tools give him a ceiling that’s arguably top-3 in the system alongside Made and Pena.
  8. Braylon Payne just kind of seems a little bit of a fluke right now. I am sorry to be a pessimist. He is very Garrett Mitchell like. However I do acknowledge, he is 19 and Mitchell was already 3 yrs older at this level with the Timber Rattlers. The swing looks like it has the same holes to it. I am growing concerned about his Z-Contact% (68.8% season) he is not making near enough contact on pitches inside the zone. This is a major red flag to me. On the plus side he has shown elite plate discipline this year O-Swing% (17.9%) his ratio of BB% to K% is pretty healthy too. Batted ball profile is solid as well. He is quite a polarizing prospect.
  9. My bold prediction is that Luis Lara ends up with a higher career WAR than PCA.
  10. Hoping it was heat stroke or dehydration and nothing long term. I know they don't owe fans any sort of explanation but for the young man's sake I am hoping it is just a one off and there's not any long term complications.
  11. We all follow the major rankings, but so much of the best prospect fun happens in the margins. During a random shoutout on a late-night podcast, a evaluators quip in a Fangraphs chat, or a specific observation from an X post that doesn’t always make it into a formal write-up. I’m starting this thread as a landing spot for those "off the radar" blurbs, quips, and glowing reviews that might otherwise fall through the cracks because life is busy and it can be hard to keep up. The goal is to aggregate the hype and keep track of all the exciting things being said about our farm system in real-time. What to post here: Podcast Nuggets: Did a national analyst mention something on a random episode? Timestamp it! Live Stream Mentions: Quotes from prospect gurus during YouTube/Sportstalk Radio sessions. Social Media Buzz: Evaluators and writers X posts sharing specific "wow" moments General Hype: Anything that makes you more bullish on a kid's future than the consensus is. To get us started: The Baseball America crew had some incredibly high praise for Luis Lara on their live stream today. They were absolutely glowing about him. https://youtu.be/jNaQo1fzN2Q?t=1051
  12. DL Hall stinks on ice. Not even close to as advertised. Below average fastball now that used to be 80 grade. Command still really poor. Probably Arnold's worst trade, and still not a huge value discrepancy.
  13. That AB by Made just now was Juan Soto esque. I am starting to feel crazy but he's getting to that level of prospect.
  14. The quality of the pitching in the system right now is not great... come save us JD!
  15. Pretty sure his only barrel was in Boston and a flyout
  16. This bullpen is cheeks. Just way too much hard contact.
  17. Rengifo has been as bad with the bat with a below average glove. Joey is an everyday player *for us. That is why he gets the attention, but Rengifo is far less valuable which is saying A LOT. Pratt and Jett likely are miles better than both with the bat. Pratt not too far off with the glove.
  18. I am gonna be disappointed if we don't, as a collective fanbase, caw after every K. I can already tell I am gonna annoy the hell out of my wife tonight.
  19. I can see him having a Jordan Lyles-esque career
  20. Yeah fair. I do think he can play 3rd with a below average glove but we know that doesn't fit the current Brewers model. Then again Rengifo is not exactly a wizard there either but he is only $4 million... which at this juncture is an overpay by about $3.5 million lol
  21. I really wish we were in on Mune this past offseason especially for the cheap price he went for. I have been a fan of him for a while and he would have helped solved our current corner IF/power woes. 26 with upside too would have fit the window well. I get why we weren't with Adams and Fisher on the horizon (We won't talk about Wilken)
  22. How about we rock them mama like the wind and the rain and rock them mama like a southbound train.
