  1. How long have you been a sycophant?
  2. I’m talking about reaching down the board for the first couple picks. Almost every pick in rounds 1-10 were underslot besides Flores. You don’t think they knew that was gonna be the case? So you are taking a lower quality or sure thing of talent to save later on the pool. Not using that seems like a failure to maximize the strategy. Maybe I’m not explaining this well.
  3. You have a pretty good idea what your pick is gonna sign for before you make said pick. So no this does not make sense.
  4. Wow and look at the success of the 2023. That should continue to be the strategy. Being irritated that they didn’t spend 800+k is not dramatic. When the whole point of this strategy is to accumulate as much talent as possible and you are reaching down the board to afford as much as possible. The 5% overage should be used by a team that refuses to play in ML FA. Period end of story.
  5. That would be quite pathetic. Need to win on all the margins. Especially with these perceived bargain signings.
  6. Maybe this is an unexpected fruit of the best pitching lab in baseball.
  7. Wow I hope to we used the remaining balance and didn’t just cheap out. That’s a lot of cash
  8. How long for the info to trickle out now that we have passed the deadline?
  9. Lot of cash to play with let’s hope we get one or two more. Roupe yet to be announced.
  10. WOW Coil is a shock. They must’ve been lowballing because he had hardly any leverage. Makes me think a gaggle of HS players are about to be announced very soon.
  11. Lowe is an interesting target! You just kind of hate dealing with the Rays though. Always the threat of a fleece.
  12. Agreed on all fronts. He is a great bat and will be a great addition but it all comes down to price. That is too rich for my blood for 2 months.
  13. I think he doesn't speak English and is using google translate, so both languages can get the info.
  14. Wanted to plug it into a model I coded as a pet project by no means is it perfect. And that deal is massively imbalanced in the D-Backs favor. I cannot see Arnold doing that unless he has a mandate from Mark Attanasio.
  15. That is a massive overpay for 2 months. Glad it's not any of the top guys. I think Henderson is expendable. He mostly is a 2 pitch guy right now though those 2 pitches are darn good. I just need a controllable guy back though for that kind of package. I would be sad to see both the skis go.
  16. Damn Underwood is the one I really wanted. Better get Hughes, Lauridsen, and Cadiz then. Otherwise this will be a mighty disappointing draft class for the bonus pool we had.
  17. There definitely gonna make an addition or 2. It just is gonna vary on the magnitude of the acquisition. Just keep in mind the Brewers (with Arnold regime) have absolutely aced trades. So have faith that even a small trade can make a big difference and they historically know what players to deal and who to keep *knock on wood.
  18. I have this weird feeling that Cortes is gonna be headed back to New York for a lotto ticket low level arm our scout team likes. As for buying maybe an Ahmed Rosario, Mike Soroka package Maybe a Maikel Garcia that would be pretty splashy and he is at least controllable. I doubt we get the exciting big splash play. Just not this front office’s MO. Gonna guess Will Castro
  19. Not too upset about Brock at all. Looked like more of an athlete than a baseball player and you’re betting on his Juco video game success translating over to the SEC. He’s already 21 and while he’s a great lump of clay as an athlete I’d like the lottery tickets from the draft to be a bit younger, so they can get more extra time to develop. Hughes and Underwood and I’m a happy camper. Sprinkle in Cadiz or Lauridsen and that’s even better. Best of luck kid.
  20. Nobody should be upset the team with one of the best pitcher development structures in baseball took a lot of pitchers… but if you are this is very true lol.
  21. Had a feeling this was talking about the Angels and it makes sense. Also goes to show this strategy really sucks if you don’t have a good and reliable team of scouts. The Angels farm is improving but still well below average and the things their dev team does still makes you scratch your head.
  22. Can’t imagine that much overslot for Mills right? A SEMO commit can’t have that much for NIL if any lol.
  23. No mainly the lack of high end (consensually ranked) talent with the big bonus pool we had. Hopefully the majority of those 4th-5th round talents from rounds 11-20 sign. Was really hoping for that Pratt type clear as day, impact guy after reaching down the board on day 1. Ideally a Matt Fisher (drafted in the 7th by the Phillies) would have been really cool. I know people rag on aggregated consensus rankings after drafts, but in baseball they’ve been pretty darn accurate. Sorry to throw cold water and it’s just my two cents. I am excited about Andrew Fischer and he should be a real quick mover if all goes well. Just think we’ve had better drafts is my instant reaction. Not saying this one is terrible by any means especially with the player development team the crew has now. If we get the majority of those kids it will help a lot.
  24. Lol unfortunate typo when putting a crying kid to bed.
  25. How I feel about this draft hinges completely on the singable guys from 11-20. I don’t think it was one of our best.
