  1. That's pretty close. With the season Realmuto is having, I'd project him at right around 4.3 WAR per season through 2020. That would put his value at 103.735 million. He's going to get big, big arbiration raises so I'd guess he'll end up making about 21 million from now through the end of 2020. I'd put his surplus value in the 80-82 million range. If I'm the Marlins, I wouldn't consider selling him for anything less than 70 million. I have the following surplus values on the player's mentioned: -Hiura = 43.73 million (#26-#70 hitter) -Woodruff = 14.66 million (between #75-#100 pitcher and top 10 organizational prospect) -Ortiz = 11.45 million (top 10 organizational prospect) -Henry = 4.01 million (between role player prospect and fringe prospect) Total value = 73.85 million No way the Brewer's get to Realmuto's value without including Hiura. If he's not in the deal, the deal doesn't work. Could Ray be substituted for Hiura? 2B is SUCH a need for the team right now, it would be really hard to part with Hiura knowing this.
  2. I’m so sick of how much this team strikes out. Broke the strikeout record the last two years and striking out a ton agin this year.
  3. Did this team overachieve the first part of the season? They just don’t seem like a great baseball team right now.
  4. Ray has gone yard in game two. Now tied with Gatewood with 17 HRs. And now Gatewood has hit an HR. Back in the league lead with 18. Is Gatewood's move to 1B permanent? I know he came up as a SS, wondering if he could be moved to 3B or outfield if need be. Just seems like he may have more positional value at other positions than 1B.
  5. I’m hoping Medeiros is untouchable at this point. He reminds me so much of Madison Bumgardner, and his stats just keep getting better and better.
  6. I don’t think it will happen, but I would love it if we inserted Burnes into the starting rotation. Maybe he becomes our Cal Eldred ala 1992 and the team takes off. One can dream.
  7. But he can hit, and this team sure does need guys that can hit.
  8. The Marlins may not want to deal with us again after how bad we fleeced them on Yelich lol.
  9. JT Realmuto for Luis Ortiz, Jacob Nottingham, Corey Ray, and Brett Phillips. They get 3 of our top 6 rated prospects and a catching prospect in return. We need a franchise catcher with control badly.
  10. I may look insane in a few weeks or months, but I'm planting my flag that Saladino is our Whit Merrifield. I'd rather just roll with a rental and go to Hiura soon than give up a bunch for Merrifield, also. I'd also be fine with a Miller/Villar platoon at 2B. I like Saladino, and think he will produce better than the SS position has brought without him there, but you think that's enough to move the needle to make a difference this year? I would LOVE Hiura to have a shot at 2b and miller and villar as your backup/utility/ph's. But, even he has now struggled at AA some. The only catcher that moves the needle for me is Realmuto and i dont know that he's available yet for what we would be able to/want to give up. Almost feels like now that Machado is gone, there just isn't as much out there... that will make a difference. Though Ray, Mederios, Brown for Whit , I think I would do... Hard pass on that. We just aren't close enough to a World Series to make that type of move in my opinion. I think we need to give the rebuild process a bit more time.
  11. I am fully in favor of this.
  12. I may be in the minority here, but I hope we remove ourselves from consideration. The names being thrown out are WAY too much to give up for a rental.
  13. This is where I'm at as well. At this hour, I don't. I just don't think he puts us over the top, I think we still need quite a bit to be a legit contender. But the thought of sitting in Miller Park in August/Sept with Machado in a pennant race is hard not to get excited about.
  14. I would stay the course with the rebuild and slowly keep adding our prospects to the big league roster. We aren't ready to overtake the Cubs by a longshot, why mortgage the future when we still have a ways to go? I would make a couple smaller moves for a bullpen arm and maybe a bat (not Machado) and see if the team can at least earn a wild card berth as presently constructed.
  15. I would be willing to bet my life savings we are not catching the Cubs this year, regardless of the moves we make. I wouldn't make any major moves and let some of our prospects mature and get a year older. If the club manages to make the the playoffs with what we have, then great. We aren't getting to the world series this year, so why get rid of our prospects knowing this?
  16. Would be a huge buzzkill to lose this game after the Aguilar news. We have not played well overall this series.
  17. If Burnes continues to be used as a reliever rest of season, I would argue he would have as much value to the team as Machado would. No way am I including him in the deal.
  18. Random question, if we acquire Machado prior to the AS game, does he go as a Brewer or an Oriole?
  19. Oh man this seems to be gaining more and more steam by the second....
  20. I'm warming to the idea of Machado. Just imagine what he'll do for attendance the rest of the season, the club has to be looking at this as well. Would Ortiz, Woodruff, and Broxton get this done? I just don't want to include Huira or Burnes for a 3 month rental.
  21. Hard pass on Machado. I think his value down the stretch is incommensurate with what it will take to land him. Plus I highly doubt he would re-sign with us, making him a true two or three month rental.
  22. Hope we see him with the big league club before the end of the year.
