  1. It sure is starting to look like the two wild card teams will be the Brewers and Cardinals. Not sure how I feel about that.
  2. In addition to getting some big base hits lately, Schoop has played a very solid defensive 2B. I would end the experiment of Shaw at 2B going forward and give Schoop most of the playing time. I would start playing Shaw at 1B more, as Aguilar has been in a funk at the plate lately.
  3. Was it planned for the team to wear the retro pinstripe uniforms all weekend or impromptu? The team seems to have good mojo going with the pinstripe unis right now.
  4. Awesome August 31 pickup by Stearns. I think all of his moves this season (beginning with Cain & Yelich) have been brilliant when taken as a whole. If Gonzalez can right the ship, then you have acquired an ace without giving much up. I think it is a move you make 10 times out of 10. Heck, If Jonathan Schoop has another game winning hit or two in him this season, I'll call that move a good one as well. Maybe the grand slam will get him going and give us another bat down the stretch.
  5. Woodruff looks fantastic today and deserves a chance to start. Counsell starting Guerra today was a laughably bad decision at a critical time for this ball club.
  6. I personally love this move. I don't think the cost was big to get Gio, and if he can turn it around a la Hamels, then you potentially have an ace that could matchup with the other teams' ace in a playoff scenario (which we didn't have). Bravo Mr. Stearns!
  7. Stearns sure does love guys with White Sox and Rays connections!
  8. Is the August 31 deadline the new July 31 deadline?
  9. I sure hope so. His ERA for the year is now a paltry 7.24!!
  10. We just need to cut ties from Albers and move on. He is hot garbage.
  11. Would be shocked if Davies doesn't get the start on Sunday. Lines up perfectly, I have had enough Junior Guerra for the year.
  12. Cincy is in tank mode, really need to sweep them.
  13. He has nothing left to prove in the minors. Bring him up and see if he can help us out during the stretch.
  14. I would gladly replace Guerra with Harvey. It seems like once the league has figured to lay off Guerra's splitter, he becomes very pedestrian. I'll take Harvey and hope he can provide more consistency.
  15. Curious to see if Quintin Torres-Costa gets called up in Sept. His numbers have been dominant at both AA and AAA this year, plus we could use another lefty out of the pen. Could be an interesting addition for us.
  16. I would feel more comfortable with Davies in the rotation than Guerra at this point. Guerra has had bad vibes lately on the mound, and Davies can get deeper into games as has already been pointed out.
  17. Davies with a lights out performance tonight in the minors. You'd have to think he is ready to come back the big leagues and help this team?
  18. Nothing in baseball is guaranteed. A rebuild, high payroll, good attendance, none of these things guarantee playoff berths either short term or long term. That's the beauty of baseball, unlike the NBA where you can more or less "buy" a winning team. If they don't make the playoffs this year, you move on to next year and try again.
  19. Waaaay too many mistakes today for a team trying to compete for a division title.
  20. Really Shaw? Can't even give us a sac fly there? That is losing baseball right there.
