  1. That should have been the return for a year and a half of Trea Turner alone. So they paid for Trea Turner and got Max Scherzer as a throw-in, basically. Just wrong.
  2. Given the fact that 2021 could be the 4th straight season the Brewers make the playoffs, the current Brewers front office has tried to build the team for sustained success. Previously, in 50 years, the Brewers had never made the playoffs more than 2 straight seasons. One strategy to win a World Series, is to rebuild for several seasons and then when you are in position to make the playoffs, cash in your future assets (prospects) to go all-in (Sabathia/Greinke/Scherzer?). This can certainly work but I believe the current strategy is to try to be in the postseason as much as possible without trading away your key future assests, and hope that at least one season you get all the breaks and win a championship. I believe that the best strategy is a hybrid of those two. If the current front office makes the assessment this week that the Brewers can emerge from the 2021 playoffs as the last NL team standing, I think they should be willing to trade almost any player from the current farm system. I believe the Brewers are currently built much better for playoff baseball success than the Braun/Prince ERA teams of 2008 and 2011 because our current team strenghs are Starting Pitching and Bullpen. My guess is that Stearns and Company stay the course and make one or two seemingly underwhelming additions that prove to ultimately make the team better for our playoff run.
  3. Last time they hosted on Sunday night baseball was indeed 2013 on Sept 23 vs Cardinals. They won 6-4 Here's the box score: https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/MIL/MIL201309220.shtml A young Wily Peralta with the win and Jim Henderson with the save. lol Don't remember any other times between 2001-2012 but I'd be surprised if there were not maybe one or two more, perhaps vs. the Cubs.
  4. The Brewers host the Chicago White Sox on Sunday night baseball at Am Fam Field on ESPN Sunday night baseball tonight as they go for the sweep against the AL Central Leaders. It seems to me that this is a very rare thing for a Brewers club since they opened Miller Park in 2001. How many times have the Brewers played on the nationally televised Sunday Night game in the past 20 years? How many times have they actually hosted a Sunday night game at Miller Park/Am Fam Field? I realize that as a small market team we get few Sunday night game opportunities but still...
  5. How about former 2013 Brewers draft pick 1B/OF Garrett Cooper from the Marlins? Dude is a professional hitter. He's ARB eligible for 2 more years so his price might be a bit more than we are looking to spend, however.
  6. And wasn't Weigel the names of one of the officers in RENO 911?
  7. FYI went to the Ticket Office today to purchase a pair of tickets for Friday, May 16th vs Pirates. Good News: I was given a pair of hard copy, paper tickets in an envelope with a 2021 pocket schedule without even asking. Bad News: They only had one window open and I stood in line for 30+ min in a line of about 5 people before they finally opened a 2nd window.

  9. My 26 Man Guess C: Omar Narvaez, Manny Pina 1B: Keston Hiura, Billy McKinney (L) 2B: Kolton Wong (L) 3B: Travis Shaw (L), Daniel Robertson SS: Luis Urias, Orlando Arcia OF: Christian Yelich (L), Lorenzo Cain, Avisail Garcia, Jackie Bradley Jr. (L) SP: Brandon Woodruff, Corbin Burnes, Brett Anderson (L), Adrian Houser, Freddy Peralta RP: Josh Hader (L), Devin Williams, Brent Suter (L), Drew Rasmussen, Justin Topa, Eric Yardley, JP Feyereisen, Josh Lindblom No DH I think costs Vogelbach his roster spot.
  10. That's pretty crazy. Out of curiosity, what does Baseball Prospectus currently project the Brewers for playing time percentages?
  11. In honor of Tim Dillard's retirement from Professional Baseball, a career spanning interview. 12. Brewers in serious talks with Travis Shaw. Gross
  13. Don't think Brewers ownership wants any part of Kris Bryants $19M salary for 2021. More likely to give Urias abs and sign a cheap backup/platoon partner for him.
  14. I'm not sure having our lineup vs LHP start with two Lefty hitters makes much sense. My guess: vs RHP Wong 2B Cain CF Yelich LF Huira 1B Jake Lamb 3B Garcia RF Navarez C Arcia SS P vs LHP Cain CF Urias 3B Yelich LF Huira 1B Wong/Robertson 2B Garcia RF Pina C Arcia SS P Am I the only one who would rather have Braun back in the lineup over Garcia? That signing last offseason still doesn't make sense to me. Making out a Brewers lineup without Braun somewhere in the middle of it for the first time in 14 seasons kinda sucks, frankly.
  15. Check out this Brewers top 20 minors list from 2006. https://www.minorleagueball.com/2006/2/16/12535/6465 18. Michael Brantley 19. Lorenzo Cain DOOOOOOHHHHHH!!!!
  16. Dodgers also have Edwin Rios to play 3B. However, I still think Dodgers bring back fan and clubhouse favorite Justin Turner since they are over the luxury tax already, unfortunately.
  17. This is a great point and probably why the opt-out has become almost common place in Star Free Agent Contracts in the last 10 years.
  18. Brilliant contract by Bauer and his agent that might revolutionize baseball player contracts going forward. Fellow baseball owners can't be happy about this development. Actually, does any one know who was the first MLB player to get an opt-out written into his contract? Sure, was a game changer. Edit: I believe it was A-Rod's first big contract in 2000.
  19. This could be the plan, but from a roster building standpoint, I really wouldn't like the platoon options on the left side of our infield, as all three of those guys hit right-handed. I think the rumor that we are kicking the tires on Turner, mean that we are not settled at 3B yet. Personally, I woudn't be too comfortable going into the season with Huira and Vogelbach as our only 1B options as well.
  20. I will predict the Brewers sign lefty Free Agent starter Tyler Anderson as their traditional "out of nowhere" offseason SP signing that ends up pitching like Miley/Lyles in 2021.
  21. Former All-Star 3B Jake Lamb is a free agent and seems like a perfect fit for the Brewers roster needs. https://www.facebook.com/Dbacks/videos/10158819687120005/ Only 30 years old, hits left-handed and has MLB experience at 1B and 3B. Hit very well after being traded to A's last season so perhaps a change of scenery helped get his career back on track. Could platoon at 3B with Urias at 3B and be a backup 1B if the Hiura experiment goes south. Won't cost much on a one year deal. Maybe could get a club option thrown into a deal in case he reverts to his 30 HR potential.
  22. Based on what, your own opinion? No, based on science.
