  1. Hader for Austin Riley, Kyle Muller/Bryse Wilson, and Patrick Weigel would interest me. Riley locks down the 3B for the next 6 years. Muller and Wilson are both mid-rotation profile pitchers that can add to our depth this year between AAA/MLB and could take a rotation spot in 2021. Weigel is a wild card who's stuff has played up well as a RP in the minors and could impact our BP as soon as this year. Can touch upper 90's with both a slider and changeup. Brewers also drafted him in 2014. Interesting proposal and possible a realistic return for Hader. Here's what I'd prefer as a return for Hader from the Braves -3B Austin Riley -RHP Kyle Wright (I prefer him over Bryce Wilson) -LHP Kyle Muller -RP Weigel or perferably Touki Touissant I have a funny feeling Touissant could be redefined as a dominant back of the bullpen arm as his career moves forward. If the Braves sign Donaldson, this proposal makes a ton of sense for them, as Riley and Wright are MLB ready and ATL wouldn't really have starting spots for them.
  2. I would have prefered the Brewers add Castellanos as a free agent for a corner outfield spot instead of Garcia, personally. That would have made a Healy/Sogard 3B situation much more palatable, IMO. Personally, I'd rather have Castellanos than Donaldson for the next 4 seasons, so I think some team is going to get a bargin.
  3. 2 things: White Sox would trade Andrew Vaughn straight up for Josh Hader without a second thought. Brewers would trade Corbin Burnes staight up for Andrew Vaughn without a second thought. These are the two extremes of overrating and underrating 1B Andrew Vaughn IMO.
  4. I like the Dbacks proposal from the above post but think the Brewers should get even more for Hader, especially a more sure thing headliner. As a reference, I’d say the Dbacks got as much in prospect value that they’d be giving away in this proposal that they got from Astros last deadline while also unloading Greinkes massive contract. With Astros pipeline ranking at the time 1B Seth Beer (No. 3) RHP J.B. Bukauskas (No. 4) RHP Corbin Martin (No. 5) 3b Josh Rojas (No. 22) Is 2 1/2 years of Greinke at $32M per more valuable than 4 arb eliglbe years of Hader? No way I say
  5. So what you are telling me is that Yankee fans are spreading internet rumors that they are on the verge of trading a couple of players that they have no place on their starting roster for (spare parts- 3B Miguel Andujar and OF Clint Frazier) to the "lowly" Brewers for the best reliever in baseball? No....not Yankee fans! I would speculate that these rumors are bunk. Instead of refreshing this thread every couple of minutes during the holidays, I'd suggest checking back in mid-July ONLY if the Brewers are not contending.
  6. I’m certain that they will try but I believe that Craig’s loyalty lies with Milwaukee.
  7. Stearns has been doing a magical job as GM of the Brewers during his tenure but I think he has been given too much of the credit for the Brewers playoff seasons the last two years. Personally I think manager Craig Counsell has not received enough credit for their success. I think Craig is more important to the future of this franchise and believe he will still be at the helm of this team the next time they make a trip to the World Series
  8. My take after reading the last ten pages is that Brewer fans didn’t want to gift wrap Josh Hader to the Yankees this Christmas! Lol And rightfully so. Josh Hader will be a Brewer in 2020.
  9. Wow some of these suggested returns on a Hader trade are earth shatteringly bad. My goodness. Merry Christmas to whichever team gets 4 years of Hader for a handful of run of the mill prospects I guess.
  10. I’m also happy they specifically stayed away from Keuchel as I agree that he’s just not that great of a pitcher anymore going forward. However, the Brewers certainty could have afforded a starting pitcher from his tier of quality. My hope was that they would sign one bargain bin SP better than Lindblom and then one like Ryu on a 3 year deal. Instead the Brewers are relying on their magic pixie dust to work on the likes of Lindblom Lauer and Brett Anderson to get them back to the postseason. On paper, our 2020 rotation looks like crap, frankly.

  12. I also believe we are almost out of 40 man roster spots, since Stearns is signing a player a day lately.
  13. Brett Anderson is NOT a better pitcher than Julio Teheran. Julio is also 3 years younger, less injury prone, and can actually miss bats.
  14. Stearns has been a busy, busy man no doubt. Overall, I thinks he's having a nearly great offseason so far. If he could have signed Ryu or Bumgarner, or even Teheran or TWalker, instead of Brett Anderson, I'd be even more pumped for 2020.
  15. Don't hold your breath fellas....Donaldson is not coming to MKE.
  16. Outside of possibly Supak or perhaps Ray, I don't expect the Brewers will get any MLB production from those minor leaguers you mentioned in 2020.
  17. Justin Smoak seemed like the best free agent 1st Baseman left and at a good price with a club option. Question for the fans not happy with this signing. Which 1B out there would you rather have signed? Did you expect Stearns to trade for a more formidable 1B option?
  18. I think the opposite seems to be true around here. Everyone seems to say "let's see... how can I find a way to convince myself that this is a really, brilliant move?" See Anderson, Brett. Anderson was a 2.7 WAR player last year. They signed him for 5 million dollars. If he's hurt next year or sucks both of which are fairly probable, the team is out $5 million dollars and moves on. If Anderson delivers at even a 2.0 WAR they come out like a bandit. If he pitches well while the rest of the team sucks they can flip him at the deadline for something. It's not Cole or Strasburg but he's a bonafide major league pitcher on a short term contract. Whats not to like. What’s not to like is that if they are not gonna give Peralta or Burnes innings as a MLB starter in 2020, why not at least sign a slightly younger pitcher that still has some upside like Julio Teheran or Taijuan Walker etc even if it costs slightly more than an Anderson type? Why overpay for García and especially Sogard?
  19. Drew Rasmussen is being groomed as a starter. And if Hader gets traded the Brewers won’t be counting on or even looking for a player from their minors to replace him.
  20. The F minus for Brett Anderson is obviously a joke. With that being said, I really really dislike the signing because I stronger dislike the player. Also, I find it funny how every terrible SP signed during Stearns tenure going forward will just be assumed to be the next Wade Miley and is thus not allowed to be questioned. lol Garcia is a C because we paid more than market price for him and I also strongly dislike him. If anyone dislikes my arbitrary grades, go ahead and post your own. It would make for some entertaining reading for certain, which was the purpose of my post BTW.
  21. Grading Stearns Offseason moves so far... Nov 27- Acquired SS Luis Urias and LHP Eric Lauer from Padres for OF Trent Grisham and RHP Zach Davies. Grade: A Dec 2-13 Signed SS Orlando Arcia, OF Ben Gamel, RP Alex Claudio, OF Keon Broxton Grade: C Dec 5- Acquired C Omar Narvaez for RHP Adam Hill and Supplemental Draft Pick Grade: A Dec 11- Signed RHP Josh Lindblom to 3 year deal. Grade: B Dec 13- Signed LHP Brett Anderson to 1 year deal. Grade: F minus Dec 16- Signed OF Avasail Garcia to a 2 year deal. Grade: C Dec 17- Signed 1B/3B Ryon Healy to a 1 year deal. (2 years of arby left) Grade: B Dec 18- Signed SS/2B Eric Sogard to a 1 year deal. Grade: C Grade Point Average thus far= 2.5 If you take away his unwise Brett Anderson signing, David is sporting at fine 2.86 GPA so far. David has been hard at work for the past 3 plus weeks. Please enjoy your Holidays.
  22. This is not a actual rumor. Just some guy spitballing really.
  23. You are probably right but shouldn't the Dodgers be desperate for a World Series Championship by now? Seems like if the Brewers fall out of contention before July and decide to move Hader, the Dodgers could certainly give up a ton of young talent to land him if they so choose.
  24. 2020 NL CENTRAL BATTLE- UTIL INF ERIC SOGARD VS HERNAN PEREZ WINNER TAKES IT ALL!
  25. Like I stated, Jeff McNeil seems to be a great hitter and solid player, but I'd prefer to trade for him using assets other than Josh Hader. The general rule of thumb is that the team that gets the best player usually wins the trade. And it's pretty clear the Brewers would not be getting the best player in that proposed swap. (regardless of the several other lesser players proposed). I mean maybe if Hader was in his last year of team control it would make more sense to me. In my opinion, we could potentially keep Hader for the next 3 1/2 seaons and STILL get a better return then Jeff McNeil. (Example: Aroldis Chapman for Gleybar Torres). In some ways, I think Hader makes sense as a July trade candidate whenever we do trade him because contending teams are always looking for lockdown relievers come July to put them over the top.
