  1. Signing Machado is not an option for this small market franchise. His salary would cripple our payroll for the length of whatever contract he receives.
  2. Is this the first draft pick traded in franchise history? I can't remember any other...
  3. Although I trust our GM sees something of value in acquiring Claudio, I don’t see how any Ranger fan can dislike this trade. The Rangers are in rebuilding mode and acquiring a high draft pick in the same range that your org drafted Joey Gallo type talents for a replaceable bullpen arm is an absolute no brainer.
  4. Brett Anderson is broken. But I guess I thought the same of Miley a year ago.
  5. 2B Max Schrock could be this year's Jeff McNeil. Their career minor league numbers are very similar. Brewers should take a long look at him, IMO.
  6. I don't expect the Brewers to pick a player in tomorrow's Rule 5 draft but if they do, I think Cardinals 2B prospect Max Schrock would actually be a good fit. He's 24, MLB ready and he hits left handed. He had a down year in Minors at AAA last year but prior to that consistently made contact and batted over .300 at every level. http://www.milb.com/player/index.jsp?player_id=621011#/career/R/hitting/2018/ALL Could he simply be a bridge until Huira is ready to be called up? Probably not happening, but Schrock is one of my favorite players available and would be surprised if some team doesn't give him a shot.
  7. That's not inside info. Just my thoughts on a money savings position upgrade idea. Most predict Dozier may get some 2 year offers, but I think the 2B market is over-saturated and he can be had on a one year deal.
  8. The Brewers will sign 2B Brian Dozier for one year/$6M instead.
  9. As long as Stearns packs his "big boy pants" to the Winter Meetings...
  10. Thanks for the responses. That's interesting. If you base it off what you saw from both at the MLB level JUST in 2018, then it makes some sense. Can't argue that Woodruff doesn't have the better pitchers frame, physically either. However, they both had similar frames when Weaver was drafted 10 rounds sooner than Woodruff just 4 years ago so I think MLB scouts believe that Weaver has a better arsenal. So far the overall numbers have backed up that belief.
  11. Other than being a Brewer, I'm curious on why posters think Woodruff should be ranked ahead of Weaver? Weaver was universally more well thought of coming out of college and has put up better career minor league numbers at the same age/levels.
  12. Burnes, Peralta, Weaver, Woodruff I'd say Burnes has the highest floor and Peralta has the highest ceiling. Both Weaver and Woodruff are solid bets to be mid-rotation starters given where they are at in their development. Both 25 and 2014 Draft Picks (Weaver, 1st rd, Woodruff, 11th rd), if you look at their minor league numbers it will be clear why I rank Weaver higher.
  13. Brewer equilavent offer would be Woodruff, Nottingham, Dubon and a Comp Pick. Factor in that the Cardinals will 100% offer Goldschmidt a qualifying offer and get a better draft pick then the one they just gave up and this is an absolute steal IMO.
  14. Brewer equilavent offer would be Woodruff, Nottingham, Dubon and a Comp Pick. I would have done that deal.
  15. This sucks. Underwhelming return for the DBacks.
  16. Just like Justin Verlander was a "former ace" in 2017.
  17. If they can field that roster, then yes, I think Mark will approve a $130 Payroll for 2019. Let's go for it!
  18. Vollbc74's offseason plan is my like dream offseason! Kudos However, I think it will take more to land MadBum and Goldy. I'll try my version: Trades: 1B Eric Thames & OF Troy Stokes Jr. for RHP Sonny Gray RHP Brandon Woodruff, OF Domingo Santana and RHP Zach Davies for LHP Madison Bumgarner 1B Jesus Aguilar, OF Corey Ray and RHP Marcus Diplan for 1B Paul Goldschmidt Free Agents: 2B Brian Dozier- 1/$8m LHP Tony Sipp - 1/$2m Lineup: Cain - CF Yelich - RF Goldschmidt - 1B Shaw - 3B Braun - LF Dozier - 2B Pina - C Arcia - SS Bench: Dubon, Kratz, Broxton, Perez Rotation: Bumgarner, Chacin, Gray, Burnes, Peralta/Anderson Bullpen: Knebel, Hader, Jeffress, Sipp, Albers, Guerra, Supak
  19. I guess I don't put Woodruff on the same tier as Hiura and Burnes, so that's why I'd be willing to have him headline a trade from MadBum. Honestly, if he stays a Brewers, he might be the most valuable if we keep him in the bullpen. His stuff seemed to play up a bit in shorter outings, IMO.
  20. It would probably take a third major piece to land him, IMO.
  21. This trade makes a ton of sense for both clubs. Yankees could platoon Thames/Voit at 1B and use whatever minor league chip we trade them to flip at the trade deadline to improve their MLB club. Maybe someone along the lines of Troy Stokes or Marcus Diplan. Thames will make $6M in 2019 with a Club Option for $7.5 in 2020. ($1M Buyout), so swapping him and Gray would be nearly a salary cap wash for both clubs as well.
  22. Most divas I know don't go after rattlesnakes with an axe and then nurse back to health the baby bunny rabbits still alive inside. lol https://www.sbnation.com/lookit/2016/4/16/11443590/madison-bumgarner-snake-rabbit-story-vin-scully-holy-wow BTW, Brandon Woodruff will never be an ACE of a MLB rotation. Madison Bumgarner has the pedigree of not only an MLB ACE, but an elite ACE with Hall of Fame level talent with the ability to take his game up a notch during the playoffs. Some great pitchers like Clayton Kershaw do not have this special gear in them. Also, in spite of his dip in numbers from his last two injury plagued seasons, the dude is still only 29 years of age.
  23. I think we are letting Woodruff's postseason heroics cloud the HUGE gap in talent between Madison Bumgarner and him. Also pretending that MadBum is some washed up old man, when in reality, he's only 4 years older than Woodruff.
  24. Nice breakdown. Still think the Mets will regret taking on Cano as he ages with no DH spot to hide him.
