  1. Mlbtr predicts 3/75 for him and supply and demand of 3B, especially with Moose signing to a team not looking for 3B help, means it’ll likely take that to get him. That said, I’d possibly be ok with it. 3 years seems to be the competitive window anyway with Yelich having that long left. The cheaper strong alternative would be Howie Kendrick, if he can handle 3B full time defensively
  2. I think the Marisnick deal makes it more likely they keep Davis. Conforto will be in RF everyday, Davis/Marisnick/Nimmo will rotate in the other two spots. Plus if Lowrie is healthier, he will get some 3B starts and McNeil will play some OF, blocking Dom Smith even more
  3. That’s why the 26th man should be a catcher IMO. Someone like Fransisco Cervelli who can be a pinch hitter. That way Narvaez can okay some 1B/PH and Pina can sub defensively for Narvaez. Depending on the regular 1B, Cervelli could start there vs LHB sometimes
  4. I don’t think it’s teams purposely flooding the free agent market. Rather I think it’s the outdated arbitration process. It too heavily weighs things like RBIs, for example. That’s why guys like CJ Cron, who have good power stats but not much else (OBP, defense, Baserunning) get non-tendered. It isn’t that teams don’t want to keep some of those guys, but arbitration will reward them with over market value.
  5. I wonder if they’d be willing to pay a bit more to get Ryu instead of Keuchel as a small upgrade
  6. I had them signing Thames, Brock Holt, and trading for Omar Narvaez for the exact reason to keep lineup balance. But Scooter doesn’t have playing Rome available in Milwaukee. If he wants a shot at playing time in the majors, it’ll have to be with some crap team like Detroit
  7. Brockmire might be the funniest show ever made. It’s also sir of a baseball show
  8. The highlighter colored sleeve, even with the Cardinals. Your hatred is warranted
  9. Now after non-tender deadline: Trades: -get Omar Narvaez from SEA for Freddy Peralta Free agent signings: -Eric Thames- 1/5.5 -Brock holt- 2/8 - some starts at 3B, LF, and defensive sub at 2B -Howie Kendrick - 2/14 - 1B, 3B -Dallas Keuchel - 3/39 -wade Miley - 2/12 -Francisco Cervelli - 1/1.5 -jordan Lyles - 1/5 -Steve cichek- 2/8 Lineup: 1B-Thames 2B-Hiura RF-Yelich 3B-Kendrick LF-Braun C-Narvaez CF-Cain SS-Urias Bench C-Pina- start vs LHP and sub on D for Narvaez OF-Gamel 2B/3B/LF-holt INF-Arcia C/1B-Cervelli-allows Narvaez to PH+Pina to sub in D Rotation: Woodruff, Keuchel, Miley, houser, Lauer Bullpen: Knebel, Hader, Guerra (resign), cichek, Faria, black, Lyles, Suter * this still leaves $ for mid season moves, minor league deals, and leaves no major holes
  10. His production has dropped each of the last 3 years and he missed a lot of time in 17-18. He’s also not a good OF and doesn’t provide a lot of power for the position or for his salary. There are cheaper options
  11. By had anyone ever has as bad a season drop off as Shaw and rebounded? I cannot think of any
  12. Mlbtr predicts 3/39 for him. I hope the Brewers sign a starter at least at his level and one cheap Gio/Miley type as well
  13. I thought the Braves moved a 3B prospect to the OF last season due to Donaldson?? Yes, Austin Riley. He is expected to be the Braves 3B this year and a middle of the order bat. That’s why I find it strange so many are predicting a big 3B FA to Atlanta. I think their big bag will be someone like Marcel Ozuna with Riley going to 3B. Riley fell off so bad last year that I don’t know if they’d want to get rid of Camargo (or rust he would be a greet everyday 3B option)
  14. And he doesn’t have a spot in New York. Then, if they’re going to keep Shaw, sign Howie Kendrick to platoon at the infield corners and me Hsaw-still-terrible-insurance. Plus he or Smith can spell Braun in LF
  15. Davies frustrated the crap out of me...nibble, nibble, nibble(go to 3-0), then groove a fast(if you can call it that)ball and get tattooed. If he didn't have his control, he was useless, and that happened way too much...especially down the stretch this last year. I'm not sad to see him go, at all. Except that isn’t what usually happened, or his career ERA wouldn’t be under 4
  16. I'd be shocked if a trade or signing isn't made. Remember Yaz signed on 1/14 last season. I just don't get the level of anxiety this early in free agency / offseason. Yaz was still available on 1/14 last year. I get what people are saying when they say it's still early, but the few decent chips for catchers are already falling off the table. At this point it's kind of either Jason Castro or a trade, and I don't really know what's available out there for a trade. It could be Castro, but Avila, Romine, and Chirinos are FA and Seattle is shopping Narvaez
  17. Arizona likes to Carry 3 catchers, so Vogt makes some sense since he can pinch hit without burning the only other catcher in the roster
  18. I’d consider Vizquel to be just an accumulator and never had a stretch of elite play. For the vets committee, I hope Dwight Evans gets in. I’d be OK with Ted Simmons too
  19. Before you determine what is “American” you should look at where the vehicle is made (not assembled)
  20. If Seattle does the won’t-trade-within-division thing (3 AL West teams could use him) the Brewers would maybe be the most logical fit and there would be be a huge market. The Rays May be too cheap to want him through arbitration. Narvaez would make a good get to replace Grandal’s bar somewhat, and is the opposite of Pina so a perfect complement.
  21. Unless they carry 3 catchers with the 26 man roster so Pina can be a defensive sub. This might make sense especially if Vogt is the lefty catcher they sign. Plus he could be used as a pinch hitter/1B.
  22. I’d be surprised if one of Castro, Avila, or Vogt isn’t signed to be that lefty complement to Pina
  23. I hope they spend on a middle of the order bat and at least 1 good starter, so save $ here by signing Jordy Mercer for a couple million and Arcia can come in for him and Mercer can move to 2B for defense
  24. Jeter and schilling for sure. I’m still against the roid users, putting up video game numbers with cheat codes isn’t that impressive. But what’s interesting to me is the number of border line guys. I’d have difficulty deciding to vote or not for walker, Kent, Andruw Jones, billy Wagner, and Scott Rolen. Of course all of those players are better than Harold Baines, so maybe they’ll get in eventually anyway
  25. Getting a solid complement is a must though. Ideally a LHB like Vogt or Castro
