  1. I was going to ask in what way David would be even in the conversation with Trout, Martinez, Betts, Ramirez, and others...but then I saw who the poster was. My guess is scooter is your runner up for MVP in the NL?
  2. Why imagine that lineup with an eye towards 2019 when it could be done right now ?
  3. I’ll take Mike Trout any day.
  4. That’s enough if Kratz. Start playing the best players. That should matter. Is Pina suddenly bad at calling a game now ?
  5. The Brewers last-inning-not-enough comeback was as predictable as Schoop chasing a ball for strike 3
  6. Instead of making it sound like Schoop just started bad and played well recently, we could look at how well he’s overall done. Let’s see if he’s hit well enough to cancel out his bad start. 204/252/357 to the tune of a 61 OPS+. I’m not sure saying he’s been bad is a narrative as much as it is fact
  7. But is he even going to be worth the 10 million or so he’ll get? Likely not. He isn’t versatile (just Brewer versatile apparently) and has hit poorly since he’s come over. Better off going into FA and getting Marwin gonzalez or Escobar, players who can move to SS after Huira comes up (they’ve also both outhit Schoop this year) you'd likely have to give multi-year commitments for tens of millions to those guys as opposed just a 1 year commitment to Schoop. ETA: I've also had Marwan in fantasy this year. Major disappointment year for him. But his versatility is just crazy. His major day disappointment year is still above league average and much better than Scoop. I was also thinking as a potential SS but as Meyer said it would depend on how they view Arcia. I’d add Dublin too. And agreed the money issue is there too for paying a FA

  9. Pinas OPS was over 900 in August and Kratz was under 700. So yeah it’s time to stop alternating and Play Pina especially with all the off days. That is unless pinas got something else. Because the defense is in his favor too
  10. I wonder if they give him/Braun split playing tone in the OF next year and see if one shows he’s worth starting. They almost gotta give Santana 1 more shot. They can call up Ray if needed mid season
  11. Right. Braun/Aguilar basically have a week to play most days with an off day tomorrow and at the end of this stretch of LHP. Including today, there are 5 lefties in the next 7 games. After that, a ton of RHP. So Braun and Aguilar should play most of those and then might honestly start 50-60% of the games down the stretch. I think you might be underestimating how much they play down the stretch. If Thames wasn't in a funk, that might be closer to true. I can't see Granderson starting more than 1-2 games a week. Santana and Broxton will virtually never start. I'll be furious if Perez starts in the outfield in September. Not many other options. Be prepared to be furious. Cc had to find a way to get Perez in- plus he’s batting 2nd. at least Yelich got an off day he’s been struggling and wouldn’t have one tomorrow anyway. It’s only the team they’re trying to catch in the standings
  12. Trade Thames because he doesn’t fit on the roster. They should non tender Schoop if he’s gonna get 10 million. Better off signing Marwin Gonzalez who is actually versatile (not throw-in-a-new-spot Brewer versatile). He can play 2B until Huiras up then move wherever needed (Arcia if he can’t hit for example).
  13. That’s about right for the level of knowledge of so many cubs bros. Those tools (Cubs fans since 2016) probably had sweet wristbands and sideways hats though
  14. My jaw just dropped.
  15. Yes but can he secure the $15m and still get the $40m deal after next year? If he plays like this next year, I think so. He’s playing like he did last year and he had to settle for a 6 million dollar deal in March. I’m not sure why people think his marker or value would be much higher this year
  16. This is definitely not the first time I’m saying this, but it’s a good thing Hader got an (extra) day of rest, because that 2nd day off for him was clearly more important than winning the game to CC
  17. It is frustrating, and I don't get it. But you can't pitch Jeffress and Hader in every game. If Soria (a top reliever) doesn't give up a two-run triple, it is tied. The pen coming back down to earth has made this team into a .500 squad. That “Hader can’t pitch in 90 games” type of line doesn’t work when no ones saying he or Jeffress should even pitch in half the games.they had a day off yesterday so it wouldn’t be pitching back there back games. Yeah Soria was a let down, but the point is that CC let it get that bad with Albers in the inning anyway
  18. Hughes was the very definition of average/replaceable last year. No one could have seen his dominance coming. Except for being consistently good at not giving up runs for years now, including as a brewer last year
  19. That is four hitters...nice, but not a powerhouse core. Heck that core isn't even helping their offense be great right now. They just went and got another hitter because they have struggled offensively. Darvish just ended a terrible year with an injury, Lester is getting really old, Hendricks doesn't appear to be super special anymore, Jose Quintana doesn't seem to be the ace the were hoping for...quite far from it. Their rotation is an ticking time bomb, ready to blow up. Next year it will technically be led by 35 year old Jon Lester. I am waiting for a 2018 Nationals type disappointment in the next few years. The Cubs have had a disaster season with injuries and missed Bryant for most of the year. Yet they are 3rd in runs scored and 8 out of being the top scoring team in the National League, so yes. I guess that core does make them a power house. Their pitching is **** and they have the best record in the NL. There is no sense pretending like a recent streak is the real story of the Cubs offense. Bryant’s played in about 60% if the cubs games. Not exactly out did most of the year
  20. hes the right guy to pinch hit there, especially with no lefties who crush the reds on the bench
  21. I’d think Yelich could’ve used the day off more than aguilar, who is hitting better recently. Good to see Braun in there again though
  22. what?! Headers not gonna pitch 90 games his year. He should be available for An inning next week.
  23. He just needs to sit like 4 more days and then he can pitch.
