  1. Fair enough. There is just some middle ground between the “Lucroy of old” and the poor 1st half he had in Texas.
  2. Away games with the Rockies (small sample): 76 PA, .238/.355/.317/.673 0 HR. Of course Rockies hit worse on the road (most players do) playing in a string division with pitchers parks mostly
  3. I don’t get why people are talking about Lucroy like he’s washed up and incompetent now. He is still on the top half of hitting catchers and hit better with COL even considering Park. Still, he’s unlikely to want to sign with the Brewers when he could regenerate interest by becoming the clear #1 on Oakland or Washington (who’d also fit his preference of a competitor) and having a good year catching 100+ games.
  4. So move Yelich down to get a bad hitter in Villar more at bats?
  5. Why does starting Santana or Braun in RF negate the defensive improvement in CF or LF? You still have 2/3 of your outfield able to play GG defense while RF gets no worse than it was last year. And you could look at it as their top D compensates for Santana’s or Braun in RF
  6. You'd have someone like Broxton getting a decent amount of ABs vs. the LHP or some cheap FA or Perez. Depending on Phillips' defense or ability to hit against LHP, maybe he'll eventually see a lot of LHP, but for now, they'll have someone to take some LHP ABs away from him. Agreed that if Santana is traded, there’d be a righty to essentially platoon with Thames. But with Thames, Braun, and maybe Aguilar on the roster yet, where does Phillips fit on the 25 man roster? And when does he get to a play?
  7. Yeah that would’ve been with Thames in the roster. Basically, rotating 2 positions between Braun/Thames/Phillips means Phillips plays mostly against LHP because you’d want both the others vs righties. I’m not sure that’s the best
  8. Thames on roster = him starting vsRHP and Braun at RF vs RHP (then Phillips in RF against mostly LHP) Thames not on Roster=Braun starting at 1B vs RHP, thus Phillips being able to start vs RHP in RF.
  9. Phillips would fit better at the MLB level if both santana and Thames were traded. If Braun played 1B vs LHP and RF vs RHP then Phillips would play largely in RF vs LHP.
  10. Unless something drastic happens, I don’t see how Phillips starts the year In the majors. Even with that, Aguilars spot is in Jeopardy with Brain possibly being the 1B RHB making Aguilar redundant. Add the possibility of signing Walker to increase the roster crunch and 1B capable players, I hope at least a prospect can be Gotten in return for Aguilar Define "drastic"? I understand that Phillips will be in AAA if they don't trade an outfielder. However, I'm pretty confident they're trying very hard to get a fair deal for Santana, and it wouldn't be at all surprising if they succeed. I wouldn't call it drastic. What I'm saying is that Phillips will get the most starts in RF if Santana is traded, meaning Braun will have to get many of his starts at 1b and there's still no room for Aguilar even after trading an outfielder. This was in response to a post that had Thames, Aguilar, Braun, Santana, Yelich, and Cain at 1b/OF. It's not the fact that Phillips isn't in there that I find unbelievable, it's that Aguilar is. If Santana is traded, I’d be tempted to start Phillips in the minors to start the year anyway. Platoon Thames/Aguilar at 1B, start Braun in RF. Not as a slight to Phillips, but to gain a year of team control.
  11. So just to be clear, would you trade Braun for anything besides a top arm?

  13. This list is exactly what I’d put too. Reed and Avila went far cheaper than I thought.
  14. Lynn would be getting paid yes partially due to durability, but mostly consistently not giving up Many runs
  15. For that much money? Good
  16. I think they have more than proven that they won’t right to sign a top starter, since it’s February.
  17. Why would you expect Chacin to throw 200 innings when he never has?
  18. AJ Reed is still a good LH 1B/DH prospect. Plus they have Marisnick and Derek fisher for LF with Martin Gonzalez and Gattis also. Kyle Rucker might be up in 2018 as well. No need for another hitter
  19. There won’t be enough playing time for Braun, Thames, and Aguilar at 1B. Plus the lack of bench versatility would be harmful. I’d also prefer to keep Santana, unless he is used to get a good SP. but if he’s kept, hopefully at least a couple decent prospects could be acquired for Thames and/or Aguilar. Then sign Walker to play 2B as well as backup 1B
  20. My personal reason for wanting to trade Santana for prospects is for three reasons. A, I only want us to get one more SP so as not to push Woodruff back to AAA and FA is the best rout. Second, while keeping Santana with Yelich, Cain, Braun, and Thames makes an awesome combo, someone is going to get relegated to be a part timer (probably Thames). Moving one of them would be of better value and of that set, only Thames & Santana can be moved and Santana should get us a better haul. And D, I want Phillips starting ~3/4 of the games in RF. His D along with Yelich and Cain would be awesome. Keeping Braun/Thames in the lineup with Yelich, Cain and Shaw makes for a strong top 4. If we can squeeze out a top 50 prospect who is in AA at a position of need for Santana (Meija?), that would be the best use of resources, in my opinion. Is the listing a home alone reference?
  21. Lynn has had an ERA below 4 every year in his career. So yes he’s better than the current back end options
  22. Why give up anything for Kipnis? He makes a lot, was bad last year, and Walker doesn’t have many fits anymore
  23. Sign Walker to a 2 year deal, which is what the market looks to be for him. Then he transitions to a utility role at the end of 2019 when Hiura is brought up (not in 2018). This also allows for the Brewers to have a backup at 1B if Braun moves there and Thames/Aguilar are moved. Otherwise hopefully get a prospect in a trade for Perez or Villar
  24. I brainstormed a list of teams that would make sense for Santana and it was longer than I thought. This should especially help get a good return if he is traded. The fits to me: -rangers -Red Sox -Rockies -TB -Indians -Braves -Arizona -twins -a’s -Padres
  25. But i don’t get why the Yankees wouldn’t have jumped at this price or even just a bit over to get him.
