  1. I would be willing but hesitant to get a 2nd 1B-only player in the team with Hoskins right now (and no he isn’t getting traded without eating a lot of $ or a bad contract in return). Especially if it was piston trading Casas to open 1B for Devers. But I’m not sure Lowe is worth clogging up DH, which is where Hoskins would play, with Contreras and Yeli off of surgery, DH should be a revolving door. that said, I would be interested in a 1B who can also play other positions (Brandon Lowe, Lamont Wade, etc)
  2. Yeah Baty would cost less and I wouldn’t hate buying low on him. But Bride was a good hitter last year and Miami could use OF help so they may line up better as a trade partner. I also would like to see the Brewers a power hitter who is good enough to hit in the middle of the order, and replace Adames, and try for 2 of those hitters. losing Adames from a lineup that already started Jake Bauers in a playoff game means and will be relying on injury prone hitters means there are enough average hitters throughout the lineup and I hope they get some actual good ones
  3. Jonah Bride could be a cheaper way to get power at 3B/1B.
  4. I would think Hoskins would be able to provide insight about Bohm’s attitude. Plus, the change of scenery and literally millions of dollars on the line for him depending on how he plays, there is reason to think he could do well in MKE.
  5. That would be nice but no team would take on his 18 million plus 4 million buyout
  6. Then you’ll have to include dead $ or another bad contract. His contract has negative value
  7. That’s a good point that they could co-exist well. I just think that in the event Casas becomes expendable due to Devers moving to 1B, that would out 3B as a need as well as back end relief and SP. if those weren’t filled first, those would probably be what Boston would want in exchange for Casas before getting catching help but getting Casas would be really good for Milwaukee
  8. I’m not sure they’d want Quero too much with Kyle Teel already reaching AAA
  9. Berti would be a fine signing for a utility bench option. He’d be a bad choice for a starting 3B
  10. The amount the brewers would be willing to pay him vs the Giants or Dodgers would be measured in the 10s of millions so him saying that sounds nice but it’s not realistic. Not that I’d be excited to pay him well into his 30s. I’m resigned to the fact that he will be gone. I just have higher expectations than improbably should for how the Brewers will replace him
  11. Having to be cheap due to the economic situation is still being cheap. And I’m concerned that cheapness (justified or not) means Yoan freaking Moncada or someone one essentially replaces Adames. A lineup with that type of switch still looks ok, until one realizes that lineups validity relies on the health of Yeli, the health/continued production of Mitchell, and improvement from Hoskins. If one or more of those issues pops up, this lineup could look sketchy quick. That’s why I really hope they get one good hitter of the caliber at least near Adames. Lowe, Suarez, Happ, profar, somebody with some pop
  12. I’m worried this is a sign of sad cheapness which will mean a bunch of “meh” to a lineup that needs more hitting, especially with them losing one of their best hitters.”
  13. They would pick up the option even if they were planning on not bringing him back because he’s worth at least something in a trade
  14. Not for Semien, but the Rangers do makes sense as trade partners, possibly for Devin Williams. Josh Smith as a 3B option with Jung there. Maybe Justin Foscue. And Maybe Nate Lowe if the team legitimately feels Yelich can play a lot of LF and Hoskins can DH
  15. The big focus this offseason should be the offense. Especially with losing Adames an ms the health concerns of Yelich, this lineup could start to look pretty weak pretty quick. I think it’s especially important to get one strong middle of the order hitter and another starting-caliber hitter at 2 positions. 2B/3B (preferably 3B with Ortiz going to SS) and 1B/LF so Hoskins and Yelich can DH most days. So basically I’d hope for 1 player each from each group below, with the positions between the 2 having to work out. Personally I’d look to move an OF (Frelick and/or Black) and Devin Williams to possibly get at least one of these bats via trade group A (basically Adames lineup replacement): -Brandon Lowe (1B/DH/ occasional 2B as Sveumrules pointed out to me -Santander (can play some 1B) -Eugenio suarez - Max Muncy -Profar -Ian Happ -Isaac Paredes -Jonah Bride Group B (lineup lengthening/lead off hitter?) -Tyler Black internally as a 1B/LF? -rengifo -Josh Smith -Lamont Wade -Ryan McMahon -Alex Bohm -Jonathan Aranda -Willi Castro -Solano -Jace Jung (if DET signs Bregman)
  16. Right, that’s another reason to trade Frelick for example. He has more value as a starting CF to the Phillies or someone rather than a corner OF/ 4th OF in Milwaukee (who doesn’t provide the bat you’d want for LF/RF). Because you have one of Mitchell/Perkins as your 4th OF if they platoon in CF. Yelich will do some DHing but I am hoping they see the need to get a better bat for 1B/LF. But maybe that’s Black’s role.
  17. All 3 of Mitchell, Frelick, and Perkins derive their greatest value by being able to play CF. Having all 3 on the riser just means you have a relatively weak-hitting corner OF albeit with plus-plus defense. But one of those guys should hold ore value to a teaM in need of CF help than being a backup/corner OF in Milwaukee. That is why I see one being traded. I’d guess Frelick
  18. Sometimes, especially if their defense is already slipping. I’d like to see Adames stay, but for how much $ he will get for probably 5+ years, it just isn’t the best allocation of resources. And considering the low supply of quality FA SS and some deep-pocketed teams like ATL, SF, maybe LA and DET making at least some sense for him, his market won’t fall down to reasonable levels for MKE
  19. Then he must be a brewer target once they realize that. i wouldn’t get Morel, who is a bad 3B, but the Rays do make sense as a trade partner with their IF depth. Plus, justbaseball.com ranked the Rays as the best MiLB infield depth. I know he’s injury prone, but Brandon Lowe makes a lot of sense as a target. The Rays will likely look to trade him and the Brewers need hitting. He would indirectly replace the offense lost by Adames leaving. I think it would mean Turang to SS but Lowe has played some 1B/corner OF too
  20. I personally would like to get Brandon Lowe from Tampa Baybin exchange for Tyler Black.
  21. Josh smith of the rangers to take over 3B
  22. Right, my list of screw ups definitely starts with Williams, then a bunch of hitters, then I had a couple issues with Murphy but after those guys.
  23. I definitely meant shouldn’t because of course you put Williams in there. Context would’ve shown that but my bad. Typo
  24. No he will return with his player option for 2025, unfortunately
