  1. Mr. Capuano, Thanks for always competing and being a great professional. You represented the Brewers extremely well and the fans, myself included truly appreciate that. Good luck to you and your family. Jim
  2. This dude is lights out...when he is healthy. Lets hope to a healthy 2011 for all of us and the entire Brewers roster!
  3. Does anyone know how to pronounce his last name? I am thinking it is "Say-Show". Anyone know for sure?
  4. his highest ERA the last five years was 2.83 (last year). He also save 39 games in 2007 and had a 1.40 ERA that year.
  5. Takashi Saito I love it. The guy has been great the last couple of years.
  6. I hate the cubs. Cant stand them, their crappy stadium and most of their fanbase. It would appear they are not going to have a great year but my guess is they will end up being good. Someone talk some sense to me.
  7. Good to see Webb isnt going to the ScRubs. http://msn.foxsports.com/...with-Brandon-Webb-122610
  8. I think that we have a pretty good team and a pretty good bullpen. Dont forget also that we know have a good starting rotation who should take some pressure from the bullpen. We should all have faith in Melvin and Mark A. that if needed, they will bring in anybody come mid season if need be. We're going for it!
  9. Counsell and his agent are doing what free agents due during the offseason. They gauge the market and try to get every dollar they can. This does not mean that he is "wavering". Just because it was reported that Melvin was going to hear back from Counsell's agent "in a day or two" does not mean that their conversation would be published to the local or national media.
  10. I would like to add Cliff Lee, Zack Greinke and Matt Garza to go along with Marcum as the #4 and then Gallardo pulling up the rear at #5. I would like that.
  11. How do you know that Capuano is "wavering". Capuano's agent is probably trying to get the best deal and the most money for his client. That's what agents do. As for you outbidding the A's for Harden is a great example of why you are not a general manager in the big leagues.
  12. How does my argument about Harden being terrible have anything to do with Pavano? Since you are asking evidently, I would rather the Brewers trade for another starter similar to Marcum from an area of strength in the organization. Harden, as a starter, is a waste of money. If you are frustrated at Melvin for this non move, he isn't ever going to make you happy. My guess is you are upset that he did not sign Cliff Lee as well?
  13. You were extremely frustrated that Melvin didnt sign Sheets last year as well. We know how that turned out (as many expected, Sheets gets injured and was done for the year). Harden was terrible last year (5.58 ERA). He never stays healthy, and has never pitched over 189 innings ever in his career. If Melvin did sign him and did expect him in the rotation as our number 4, he should be fired.
  14. what is his contract situation and what would it take to get him?
  15. I think if your statements are turned around, your point of view is proved false. If I were to say Player A relaxes for a few season after hitting a big contract and then in his next contract year, doesn't "relax" and truly puts forth more effort in cage sessions, weight room, film, developing a new pitch, etc... in order to justify a new big contract. That is pretty much the premise of a contract year performance. Whether or not players actually do that, well, I don't know their personal training habits but I buy into this theory. Exactly. Contract Year Performance is called common sense. If you are going to be a free agent and are hungry for that big deal, you are going to do everything in your power to have a monster year so you get paid. Thanks Jeffrey Hammonds and Jeff Suppan for proving my point.
  16. Prince already shot down an extension of 5 years and 100 million.
  17. his two best years were contract years...
  18. couldnt agree more Beast Light. The contract years thing is killing me. He is awesome in those years, average, terrible or injured in all the others it seems.
  19. I just hope we dont sign Pavano. Look at his stats...he is great in his contract years and terrible and injured at all other times.
  20. Maybe Lawrie being reported as being terrible teammate is one of the reasons.
  21. He stated today that he had not heard from the Brewers yet. My guess, is that he will not be back. Sedar is coming back, Dale S. is coming back. Ron has to have someone he wants to be the pitching coach. If he wanted Peterson, he would have said so already.
  22. I guess no other GM is either since he is not being considered for a manager's job anywhere. These are the kind of comments about Melvin that I think are way to outrageous. Melvin didn't interview Sedar for the manager spot so know he is not "thing out of the box"? Melvin and of alot of other higher ups have a lot to lose if the brewers get another crummy manager. He would be insane to be looking hard at Sedar.
  23. Jack Z strikes again!
