  1. I'd definitely take Swisher for Cameron. I thought of this awhile ago. I'm not sure if the Yankees would do that. I'm sure it would take more than just Cameron to get Nady.
  2. Yeah it's probably not a huge difference, but it is still fairly substantial. And as most everyone is saying, it's more the system that is bothering people.
  3. Well the Rangers paid a lot of that A-Rod contract and are still paying a lot so it's not quite that much... But that doesn't disprove the point you're making.
  4. I would definitely rate Teixeira ahead of Sabathia. Sabathia is great but not as ridiculous as he was in Milwaukee. Teixeira is probably the best first baseman and top five hitter in the game. There's also a much greater risk in signing Sabathia (or any pitcher) long-term than a first baseman. It just sucks that the Yankees got both.
  5. The Elias Sports Bureau ranks free agents. Teixeira is (the only player, I believe) ranked ahead of CC Sabathia. The Yankees forfeit their first rounder to the Angels now instead of the Brewers because Tex was ranked higher. The Brewers will receive the Yanks' second rounder.
  6. I'd sign him anyway.
  7. Sorry, just trying to clarify what you meant by that. That signing Looper prevents them from signing a better starter?
  8. Most of that OPS against number for McClung came as a reliever. As a starter McClung's OPS against was .735. I don't think it's realistic to expect that over a full season of McClung starting. Adding Looper wouldn't just be for insurance in case of injury. The Brewers need to add at least one starter, because even if you are ok with Yo-Parra-Bush-Suppan-McClung, you need sixth and seventh-type guys because pitchers will get injured. Sure I'd love for the Brewers to sign Sheets or Randy Johnson, but they could do a lot worse than Looper... Like not adding anyone at all.
  9. This team doesnt need a 4/5 starter; we have plenty of those. I actually don't see one 4/5 starter on the Brewers. I see a 2, two 3s and some 6s.
  10. If it's not a ton of money, I don't see why people are upset about adding someone who's a better starter than all but three pitchers on the team. I think this could end up being a smart move.
  11. My first adult snow day. How awesome. Good night everyone.
  12. I'd love to have Dunn, but I still think the Brewers will be competitive even if they don't make a big trade. I'd feel pretty good about the team if they signed either Randy Johnson or John Smoltz and signed another decent reliever, for example. I expect the offense to improve even without major personnel changes. Hart, Braun, Weeks, Fielder and Hall all fell short of their projections last year. For all of them to have underperforming years again is quite unlikely.
  13. Considering the way this has been hinted and the fact that we haven't heard any rumors, I imagine this won't be Adam Dunn. Heh.

  17. If she reads this here and finds out, I will be too overcome with joy at the fact that she has visited BF.net on her own volition to mind the lack of surprise. Awesome.
  18. Well we certainly don't know whether Escobar will be an All-Star, but both shortstops the Brewers have are two of their biggest trading chips. I still suspect they'll keep both.
  19. We're doomed.
  20. The only one I can think of was trade talks with the Cardinals last winter about Rolen. The Brewers seemed pretty open about that deal.
  21. Yes I would also say a 3.7 ERA pitcher with a very fair contract would be worth Escobar+.
  22. It would have to be more than Escobar and Periard... Someone would top that offer for sure.
  23. I'd be just fine with it, but I don't see why Toronto would agree to that.
