  1. He has one of the most violent swings I've ever seen, so at least that should be entertaining.
  2. Great game to watch. Leuer is going to be really good.
  3. That's what I expected. I wonder if Shouse will accept it. At this point I would almost be fine if he didn't, as they'd get a pretty nice pick considering he's a 40-year old loogy.
  4. I'm not too original apparently because most of my favorites have already been listed multiple times, such as Seinfeld, Arrested Development, Freaks and Geeks, Family Guy, etc. I also love the first and only season of Flight of the Conchords. I haven't seen It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia but hear good things, and the couple episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm I've seen were great. I will also grudgingly admit that the first couple seasons of Friends were pretty funny. Maybe this should go in the guilty pleasures thread from awhile back.
  5. Yeah that's also an option but then you're competing with other teams and you don't have the possibility of the draft pick. I could go either way on it, really.
  6. Fuentes is solid but I don't like overpaying relievers. To get a free agent reliever, especially a top-tier one, you'll have to overpay. Since the Brewers can only overpay so many people, I'd rather not do it for a reliever. It's why I was so glad Cordero went elsewhere last year.
  7. Yeah it's certainly a valuable pick. And I don't get why it should just be assumed that the Brewers should not want Gagne back. At the right price and for one year (that's the key) he has good value. Again, he was a good pitcher in the second half.
  8. I agree that I'd offer arbitration to all four. Offer Gagne 1 year/5 mil and I'm pretty sure he'd accept it. I think that would be a smart decision. He was a good pitcher in the second half, and the Brewers will need relievers. There's no way he'll be settling for a minor league deal. Also I would much rather offer Gagne arbitration than sign Fuentes. He'll probably get a four-year deal, which is something I really want no part of for a reliever.
  9. He is a bit too rose-colored sometimes, but he gives more information during a game than anyone I've heard.
  10. I believe the injury was expected to heal on its own and not require surgery... Unfortunately I have no link because I can't remember where I heard that.
  11. Exactly. Signing anyone else won't change anything, so why even bother with some arbitrary deadline? I don't see the logic.
  12. I'd actually prefer they go the other way. My counter offer would be 4 years/100 mil. I think that might be more attractive than 6/125, and it is less of a long-term risk for the Brewers.
  13. I am not really crazy about trading either Hart or Weeks for DeJesus. Both have higher ceilings in terms of value.
  14. Sure looked like an awesome game between Davidson and Oklahoma. Absolutely huge games from Curry and Griffin.
  15. Well it's because of what the Yankees did. They made a ridiculous opening offer to discourage other teams from even bothering. That was their strategy and it seems to be working.
  16. Good short term but that will be pretty ugly when they're paying him like 15 mil when he's 35. Oh well. At least all the Cubs players can grow old together.
  17. I'm actually surprised he didn't get a bit more. Obviously he wasn't too set on getting the biggest contract possible at all costs.
  18. "I choose to not be a slave merely to statistics" really rivals "It's big-boy time." I'm not sure which one I like more.
  19. Sure bunting can help maintain a high average, but it's over-represented in something like slugging percentage. A bunt single does not have the same value as a swinging single, so his presumably low-ish slugging percentage would be even lower.
  20. Probably a bit more, but I'd be pretty surprised if it was much higher. I think there are only a few teams who could even offer 140, and there's a reason the Yankees made such a huge offer right away--they're trying to discourage other teams from getting involved. I don't expect many others to show interest when the Yankees are opening with 140. I'd be somewhat surprised if the total offer exceeded 150 mil.
  21. 7/175 is insanity. I don't see why 6/140 won't win.
  22. At least it's happening quickly. Plenty of time to find replacements.
  23. Man. I just got home and discovered the terrible news. What a bummer.
  24. I don't think it's fair to call Sheets Plan B, because that would make Sabathia Plan A. I think Sabathia is more like Plan Powerball Ticket.
