  1. Sweet. This would be a big help.
  2. Eh, the way I see it the Cubs had the division anyway. I'd rather see the Cubs get better than the Cards or Astros.
  3. If the Brewers are able to acquire a solid starter without losing anything from the MLB team, they will have a good shot at the playoffs again this season. I don't see the need to automatically chalk '09 up as a rebuilding year.
  4. Very surprising that he was that cheap. Tampa is going to be really good again. I wouldn't have minded the Brewers giving him that contract at all, but it makes even more sense for an AL team.
  5. Wow crazy. That is pretty bold. I see him putting up a similar stat line to Sheets this past year over the course of the season, probably a tick worse. I'd be pleased if he could go over 175 innings.
  6. I don't see how you don't think Hardy is the best player in the deal. As stated, Hardy would be the best shortstop in the AL. They may need a leadoff hitter, but the player they have hitting there now was a better leadoff hitter than Ellsbury last year. Where does the need for team speed come from? Weeks, Cameron, Hart, Braun all have good speed. Finally, I don't think the Brewers necessarily need a young pitcher with upside as much as they need a productive pitcher--not that it couldn't be the same player. I don't see the reasoning for trading Hardy right now. They don't have a viable replacement who is MLB ready. Escobar's bat is not ready to be a full time MLB starter. This proposal would result in a huge downgrade at short, and probably a wash in center (although Cameron was better than Ellsbury last season). They'd gain a promising pitcher in Bucholz, but who knows if he'll be good next year or not at the Major League level? Why not just keep Cameron and Hardy, sign a proven pitcher and let Escobar play a full season in AAA?
  7. Girls. Why so crazy?
  8. The Red Sox could easily extend Hardy right away, so I don't think the contract situations are as big a deal to them as to many other teams. Point is, Hardy and Cameron are proven and you know what you'll get from them. Ellsbury and Bucholz hold most, if not all of their value in potential rather than what they've done in the major leagues. I'm not saying this hypothetical trade is hugely in Boston's favor, but I just thought the "laughed off the phone" comment was a huge stretch. Personally, I'm not even sure I'd want the Brewers to trade Hardy and Cameron for Ellsbury and Bucholz right now.
  9. So did Anibal Sanchez. Until Bucholz has sustained MLB success, I fail to see how he's more valuable than Hardy.
  10. Ditto. I'd rather use CV as our Marmol Lite, aka relief ace who can throw multiple innings in higher leverage situations.
  11. I've never heard an analyst yell, "...NO!!!" like four different times in a game the way Tollackson did.
  12. Bedard would be a solid pickup. I'm not interested in Sherrill. He was slightly below average last year and the Orioles are asking a lot for him.
  13. Why again would Melvin be laughed off the phone? Hardy is the best player in the deal, and neither Ellsbury nor Bucholz have had sustained MLB success. Sure they're both young, but so are a lot of guys.
  14. Yes you can't credit the Red Sox for being one of many teams after Mark Teixeira and for offering a trade to the Marlins while failing to mention the fact that the Brewers were the only other team with an offer to Sabathia and they were close to making a trade with the Yankees. It's no different.
  15. I would guess Sabean already offered Sanchez for Hardy, which Melvin obviously turned down. Melvin said something about the Giants offering "a fourth starter type" if I remember correctly.
  16. Good news. Can't wait to see Dusty hit him leadoff.
  17. The trade rumors forum went over 24 hours without a post. I was going to make a post but didn't want to be the one to stop the streak.
  18. I'm almost disappointed to hear that Kessler's is getting good reviews because the guy annoys me to no end in his commercials.
  19. Also noteworthy that Cameron's defense made him the third most valuable position player on the Brewers last year and the 23rd most valuable player in the NL. Definitely something that is being overlooked by those anxious to ship him out of town.
  20. Also got an ipod classic. The jump from four to 120 gigs should suffice.
  21. Yeah but there would surely be other teams interested in Fielder.
  22. Well he could certainly DH there.
  23. Burrell and Abreu have never played first, and Giambi is just as bad as Fielder defensively so who knows. You don't think teams see a lot more value in Prince Fielder compared to Abreu or Giambi at this point? I realize Fielder is only on a two-year contract essentially, but Abreu and/or Giambi could lose it at any moment.
  24. Good game but the Badgers went on a bit of a dry spell at the end. They just struggle to score at times. They have a solid team, but it definitely seems to be a notch below last year's team. I'm definitely not expecting another Big Ten title.
  25. Signing Dunn for first and trading Fielder for pitching would have made the team better. That's my preference.
