  1. I suppose that could be Oliver Perez, but he's going to cost more than Sheets because he'll get a longer deal.
  2. Ha. I feel the same way RyDogg.
  3. A 3.41 ERA makes your blood boil?
  4. Nice that you didn't bother going back because otherwise you'd have seen that getting Dunn would result in pitching coming back as well.
  5. Kevin's line was awesome. "I made a whorish decision on this document" or something like that.
  6. Well it's definitely a cause on the defensive side. Bogut has easily been their best player this season.
  7. I don't like it because it puts Dunn in the outfield, crippling the defense. I'm mainly only interested in Dunn if he replaces Fielder at first and frees up Prince for a trade.
  8. From that article: Seriously? There's a bird strike committee?
  9. Another thing that ticks me off is a team once again refusing to give a foul up by three in the final seconds. I've never figured out why teams don't do this... Should be a no-brainer.
  10. <------Blood boiling, smoke emanating from ears, slowing counting to ten... Okay, I'm good.
  11. I saw this morning that Jones will receive the remaining 21 mil on his contract over the next six years. Any team signing him could negotiate a new deal.
  12. Wisconsin had three or four possessions inside 1:30 and didn't run any clock... They shot early in the clock. Just stupid play. They could have won comfortably by six or seven if they just ran some more clock and didn't panic.
  13. I'm not seeing a huge difference.
  14. The Cubs didn't really do this as much as they just got on base at a great rate. I don't know how much of an effect coaches can have on player performance, but I was at least encouraged to hear Macha mention OBP multiple times within the first week he was hired.
  15. I'm not interested in a salary cap--the NFL is too watered down with parity if you ask me. The biggest problem in baseball is television contracts. The Brewers are stuck with their crappy FSN contract while the Yankees bring in gobs of cash from the YES Network.
  16. Man Richard Jefferson can be traded for anything as far as I'm concerned. I'd be just fine with letting LRMAM and Alexander play small forward this year. Jefferson was especially bad tonight.
  17. Because right now he's an average player who is cheap. If he's still average when he reaches free agency, and is paid like an average player, he'll no longer have the good value he has now. If he's still average by FA the Brewers may get more value out of Taylor Green or somebody else cheap. Edit: Hey, the 5k mark! Fitting that it's a post defending one of Weeks or Sheets. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  18. Few problems with that. You should still want to get equal value in a trade, even if you're using monetary savings afterwards. Melky + 9.5 mil was still likely not equal value for Cameron. Second players like Dunn, Abreu or Perez will have to agree to sign here. You can try to sign one of them, but it's no guarantee. Third, your example of the complete deal isn't totally complete. The complete deal would be Cabrera and Dunn/Abreu/Perez for Cameron plus the rest of the free agent's salary. Dunn is going to cost more than ten million, so you need to factor in the remainder of his contract as well.
  19. Man alive, you can't just spring this on me without warning. I almost instinctively smashed my keyboard at that memory.
  20. The odds of the Brewers getting a first rounder for Sheets are probably pretty low anyway. Out of the top half of the league, many have already signed a type A higher than Sheets and/or don't have the need or budget for him.
  21. I remember when Jenkins hit 5 HR in 2 days in 2001, and on HR 4 or 5 Vasgerian mimicked the classic Bugs Bunny cartoon with "Wham! A homer! Wham! Another Homer! Wham! Wham! Wham!" This was the one I was going to mention. I found a clip of this once, but I haven't been able to find it again. Hilarious.
  22. My initial reaction to this was, 'Oh boy what happened to Braun?'
  23. I understand, but he was comparing Fielder to Swisher. That's apples to oranges. The correct comparison would be Fielder compared to Swisher+whatever the Brewers got in a Fielder trade.
  24. Depending on what the Brewers think of Bucholz, there's a very good chance he'd be more valuable to the Brewers than Peavy (that's factoring in cost, of course).
  25. That's surprising to me, because everything I've ever heard has Swisher as a very good defensive first baseman. He has been very good in right field though, and he'd just be a fallback option at first. Of course over the next three years it has Fielder as a monster. Not sure how relevant this really is because nobody has suggested trading Fielder for Swisher. All that was mentioned is it would give the Brewers more insurance to trade Fielder at some point if the Brewers wanted to.
