  1. That writer thinks Redd is regretting taking an extra 30 million or whatever it was? Ok... I don't see how a deal with the Cavs could work out that would benefit the Bucks enough. I'd probably be alright with a deal involving Redd and Josh Howard. Could probably get a pick back in that too. Not sure if that would work contract-wise; the trade machine is filtered at work. Maybe the Bucks would need to take on another contract. I'll throw out another name for the draft. I said in the other thread I like Russell Westbrook, but I think Brandon Rush will be a good NBA player. Not sure if they'd take him at 8 or move down a bit.
  2. 2009 is too soon for all those rookies. I'd keep the same infield as this year (if they don't make a move for a third baseman) and then trade Prince before 2010.
  3. I think I have two new favorite FSN screw-ups. One was when Kendall was trying to catch a runner advancing to second on a ball in the dirt. Mid-throw, they switched to a nice shot of Manny Acta in the dugout. The second was very original. Mike Cameron was hitting, and they were zoomed in on his head. They simply chose to stay with that shot as the pitch was delivered, so we got to see a close-up of a hitter's head during a swing.
  4. How can you compare these two things? Playing at home is a clear advantage for any team because of the opportunity to bat last. That's an advantage even before you consider things like the home crowd, familiar stadium, no travel, etc.
  5. I wouldn't say it's solely why they have a losing record, but certainly you'd admit they'd have a better record if the number of home and road games were flipped? Doesn't that make it somewhat of an excuse then, by definition?
  6. So watching Dave Bush after Ben Sheets against the Pirates is kind of cool but ordinary instead of extremely awesome? Not sure I follow totally, but I like it anyway.
  7. I could maybe see a relief pitcher. Particularly a lefty and/or someone with a sidearm or nontraditional delivery.
  8. Wow, definitely. I've seen LTJ several times but never got around to seeing Goldfinger. They're both well past their primes now--I didn't even know Goldfinger was still around-- but I'm sure they'll play a lot of older stuff.
  9. I'm not sure about Randolph. I wonder how much he'll even see the floor in his first two seasons. I'd rather go with a guy who's more of a sure thing than take another project-type player.
  10. Dempster is sure set to crash back to Earth. Theriot had a .692 OPS in over 2000 minor league at-bats. This year so far he's at .809, so he's definitely over his head.
  11. Just picked it up. I only played for like an hour and a half, so I haven't really gotten far into the game, but it seems like it will be fun.
  12. Bit of a tough break, particularly with the Bulls getting the first pick. I definitely like Westbrook if they stay at eight. Wouldn't be surprised if they packaged the eight pick with Mo or Redd for a player and a later pick.
  13. God forbid journalists work to improve their product. Not sure how you could argue that blogs on newspaper web sites aren't beneficial to readers.
  14. So you're convinced that Melvin was about to pull the trigger, but once he heard of the report he backed out of it? What would his motivation be for doing that?
  15. I'll be excited to see Alkaline Trio, but that's it. Other days I'll just check out smaller stages or something.
  16. Cameron .711 OPS Bill Hall .675 OPS Rickie Weeks .655 OPS J.J. Hardy .635 OPS None of them are doing well, but Hardy's non-existant slugging percentage along with the low OBP makes him the worst hitter so far. No way should he be batting second; he's right where he should be.
  17. I believe his past shoulder issues have him pretty much stuck to left field? He has decent speed, probably enough for center, but I think the arm might be a problem.
  18. Hardly any have done that well, especially on the Brewers.
  19. He draws plenty of walks and is just about on pace for that 20-25 home run range. His average will inevitably rise, probably by a substantial amount. I'm not worried about his offense. My main concern is whether they should keep him at second, because his defense is awful.
  20. If Tom wanted to verify the blog report, why not contact your source before reporting on the unverified blog posting? When his source told him there was no news, he could simply either not report anything (since there's no news to begin with) or just refute the blog's report.
  21. I really don't get why Haudricourt would have even posted that. If the blog is right, he's just showing everyone he was scooped by a blogger. If it's wrong, he put a spotlight on a faulty report.
  22. I'm on a Chuck kick right now. That dude has a pretty twisted imagination, and I love it. I read Lullaby and Diary, and am currently reading Survivor.
  23. The problem with this is they likely won't lure a good candidate mid-season. This should have been done before the season when Yost fell apart in 2007.
