  1. McClung is at least young enough where it's possible that he may actually have turned a corner. The way I look at it, though, is that even if he crashes back down to Earth, he's already contributed much more than I ever thought he would this season.
  2. I should say that if the team was selected right now I don't think Braun should get in. Obviously there's plenty of time to move up. I say Braun doesn't deserve it right now because of his poor on-base percentage. Braun's OBP compared to the guys I mentioned: Ludwick, Burrell, McLouth, Holliday, Bay and Dunn all deserve spots over him, and arguments could be made for Rowand, Church and Nady over him as well. Ludwick .390 Burrell .419 McLouth .393 Holliday .401 Bay .394 Dunn .397 Rowand .385 Church .365 Nady .376 Braun .327... Yuck Braun ranks seventh in NL outfielders in OPS, but that's because of his slugging. OBP is much more important than slugging, and Braun lacks in that area big time--31st in the NL among those with 175 ABs.
  3. I assure you that's not the case, at least in my instance. Also, you wouldn't pay $50 mil for Sheets?
  4. Yeah... I don't really care if he's a jerk to the media. And he's not a total wacko or anything. He's a really good pitcher. If they traded for Bedard and re-signed Sheets, the Brewers would be awesome next season.
  5. I don't think Braun deserves it. Ludwick, Burrell, McLouth, Holliday, Bay and Dunn all deserve spots over him, and arguments could be made for Rowand, Church and Nady over him as well. Sheets will be the only one.
  6. BP gives the Brewers a 6.5% chance at the division. Edit: I just lost the duel to zzman with a bullet to the gullet. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  7. Yeah, no way the refs let the Lakers lose game 5. Boston in six probably, which is cool I guess. Nice game for Ray last night.
  8. I'd be awfully tempted to trade LaPorta+ for Bedard. I wonder if Seattle could get a package centered around Adam Jones, George Sherrill and Chris Tillman for Bedard. That'd be a nice haul.
  9. I wouldn't have thought the Brewers would get the Wildcard before the season. Between the Braves, Mets, Padres and I guess Rockies, I figured it would go to one of them. I figured the Braves and Phillies would make it out of the East. The fact that the Mets and Braves have struggled makes it attainable. That said, the fact that the Brewers are still being outscored on the season puts a bit of a damper on that.
  10. Sheets trying to finish his start with Berkman at the plate. Seem familiar?
  11. Short leash here hopefully. Any more baserunners and he should be done...
  12. 25 strikes to 23 balls from Moehler. Houston's pitching is just awful.
  13. I'm just following online. Does Sheets look off today? Velocity down or anything? Or just getting hit a bit?
  14. I don't see how you could not mention the ejections, especially considering the way they occurred. Those pickoff attempts and the reaction that followed was a weird series of events...
  15. Wins in the next two days would only be a .500 road trip, not a winning road trip. Just an fyi.
  16. He's solid defensively and he works the count, which is good for a bench player. I just don't get starting him over Hall, who has much more ability.
  17. Agreed, and yet I might actually prefer Counsell batting second over Hardy.
  18. If it gets that far, the Brewers are toast. They should approach him soon with a four year deal. 5 years/75 mil is too risky, but probably not necessary if it's done before season's end.
  19. I like the pitching match-up. Backe is not good.
  20. Maybe I'm just a little off today, but I'm not really following what you're saying there. Do you mind explaining more? I've never really seen diminished value quantified...
  21. Wow, talk about a crash and burn. He's not even that old.
  22. Branyan is the best bet there against righties, with Hall against lefties. Or Dillon when he plays.
  23. Like Hall at 2B, hate Hardy hitting second.
  24. Yeah, that's true. I think the Brewers should try to get him extended during the season to avoid that, though.
