That's the thing. He needs to stay healthy for the Brewers to not be burned. Tulo's injury doesn't appear to be long-term, but the Rockies are already seeing some of the downside to the contract the gave him.
This is the point that some people couldn't understand when they were calling for a trade right away. It will take awhile for teams to decide whether they're out of the race, and the Brewers could be out of it themselves by that time. Glad to hear they're talking extension with Hart.
If it buys out two years I'm definitely on board. Less than that, and there's a very good chance of it costing them down the road. They had him cheap still for three years.
They didn't lock him up. He was already "locked up." I am a bit skeptical right now. I would have liked them to only do it if it bought out two years of free agency. I'd have been angry if it did not buy out any years, eh. It sounds like it's going to be for a lot of money, and they had him cheap for a few more years.
I'm willing to give the offense a bit of a break against Broxton and Saito, but the defense blew it big time. Also, Mota falls behind way too many guys.
I also love his "scouting report" for pitchers which feature important points such as run support, good hitter, 13-5 (record in games he started), get ahead and Dana Demuth.
The problem with waiting to trade Fielder until his walk year is that your return won't be as high. The earlier you trade him, the bigger return you'd get. I'd just as soon see the Brewers hold on to him until he becomes a free agent. If they can't sign him, that extra year of Fielder+compensation picks is probably better than a trade.
Wow, AndThat, you are the first person I've ever heard say they watch Ferguson over O'Brien. Not judging, as I've never really watched Ferguson, but I love Conan.
I was trying to illustrate my point; probably went too extreme. My apologies for that. That said, I still stand by what I was saying. Just because we can't make trades doesn't mean we shouldn't try to come up with ideas that seem feasible to most posters.
Great stuff, though I'm guessing anyone who was outraged was mainly directing their anger towards the performance of the offense rather than the W-L record. My disappointment was almost exclusively about Yo going down, but that's just me.
Washburn is probably good enough to pitch in the Brewers rotation, but considering the money he's making this year I doubt it's worth it. There are probably better options available for that money, or similar pitchers available for less money.
I think that's a pretty big overstatement JB. They have several picks earlier than where Inman was taken. It would be a big disappointment if they didn't get "anything close" to them with any of those four picks.
