  1. Is it really down to just a few teams? It sounds like he'll be signed soon.
  2. It would be exciting, but I guess I just don't believe it will happen. I simply can't imagine the Brewers landing a top-flight free agent pitcher in today's market.
  3. End I wasn't saying Loretta should be insulted. More like Melvin should feel like he was taken to the cleaners.
  4. Loretta for the same price as Counsell? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  5. I would do that Baldelli trade in a second also. Then you just use Jenkins, Graffanino, Mench and/or Clark to get more arms.
  6. Why would the Red Sox give up Manny Ramirez for Jenkins, Hardy and Turnbow? That's one of the best hitters ever for two guys who stunk last year, and another who was injured.
  7. The Red Sox could get much more for Ramirez if they fielded more offers.
  8. I guess I was referring to his health more than his defensive ability. He can prolong his career as a DH.
  9. Bonds will need to go to the A.L.
  10. I have to think Scott Podsednik's days of starting are over. At least for the White Sox.
  11. Sheer insanity.
  12. Is Doug Davis really enough to be the main part of a deal to add a stud hitter? I guess I might not be as excited about his trade value as some.
  13. So a Mario game is coming out in 2007 for the Wii? Because the N64 version is one of my favorite games of all time.
  14. That fax prank might have been the best one Jim's done yet. That was hilarious. Also some of Michael's monologue with the documentary crew was great.
  15. It probably makes sense for the Brewers, but would the D-Backs do that? I have my doubts. What kind of year did he have in the minors? He struggled in the bigs but it was only through 70 ABs.
  16. It seems strange to me that Schmidt would say that he's between those to teams. Wouldn't he at least want other teams bidding on him to drive up his price?
  17. I admit, my source for claiming that Vazquez struggled was my mom (ChiSox fan) complaining about him. Not the most quantifiable source. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  18. I wouldn't mind him for a couple years, but then you have to wonder where Hall/Hardy would end up.
  19. That's a good question actually. McCarthy is actually in the majors, which is a big step. Gallardo's not far off though. McCarthy wasn't great last season, but he was in the bullpen. He should have been starting but they stuck with Garcia and Vazquez for a long time to justify their contracts. I guess I'd say Gallardo has more value, but that could also be from my Brewer goggles.
  20. Oh... thanks, I suppose I should have looked a little harder.
  21. His name has been tossed around in a few different threads, so I thought I'd create one all to himself. He's fallen off in recent years, but he had a very solid 2006. Obviously he'd be an upgrade anywhere in the Brewers' outfield, but how much should the Brewers give up for him? Wells makes $5.6 million next year, a salary that he outperformed in '06. But he's in the final year of his contract. Which leads to a few questions... How much is he worth for what could only be a few months with the Crew? If they get him, do they trade him at the deadline? Do they try to re-sign him? Like Lee, I imagine he'd opt for free agency. Unlike they would with Wells, the Brewers had Lee for two years. My thinking is that the Blue Jays would be better off holding on to him and trying to negotiate an extension by the deadline. I don't see them getting equal value. Either way, is he someone Melvin should really try to pursue? And if so, what would be a fair offer?
  22. That's interesting. They seem split on whether they should do the trade, kind of like here. It seems like Safeco would be a good home park for Jenkins though.
  23. Reed's salary is small, so probably. A lot of people seem willing to give Jenkins away for nothing if someone ate his whole salary, so I imagine giving $2 mil and getting Reed back in return isn't much different. Reed has been terrible offensively, but he'd be a cheaper bench player than Clark by quite a bit. They'd just have to find someone to take Clark then.
  24. Sportscenter reported that Piniella wants to acquire A-Rod. That would be pretty uncool...
  25. I can't imagine anyone would pay him that type of money. He's past his prime, and he's not nearly as good as Beltran or Guerrero. I know there are some free spenders out there, but $90 million seems crazy.
