  1. It boggles my mind that Fox gave him a contract. His 15 minutes of fame has to be winding down, doesn't it?
  2. Exactly. Knapp is years away, Donald is probably a utility infielder and Marson is probably a backup catcher. That they did this without getting one of Drabek or Dominic Brown is crazy. And why throw in Francisco on top of it?
  3. So the only major league pitcher they got is Carrasco, who should but solid but nothing special. I'm just a little underwhelmed overall.
  4. None of those pitchers are expected to be more than a number three starter. I think the Indians would have been better off keeping Lee to make a run next year.
  5. Suppan's been below replacement, so as far as the team is concerned this may not even be a bad thing.
  6. Who plays center field if Cameron and Gerut are both gone?
  7. The only two guys anyone would have interest in (Cameron, Hoffman) are the only two the Brewers would want to bring back next year. Doing nothing is probably the way to go, sadly.
  8. Minaya won't be fired. This is the organization that extended him during last season, before yet another collapse. He seemingly can't do anything to get fired.
  9. I was about to come here and lobby against Harang because I knew he had been struggling a bit, but good thing I checked his numbers first. He's been extremely unlucky this year. 3.67 k/bb is a great number. I'd be interested in Harang, but I'd be surprised to see Cinci trade him within the division.
  10. This again makes no sense. The way Macha talked about Dillard, he makes him sound like he's better used as a reliever. Then why was he turned back into a starter this year? Not that I'm all that excited about Dillard starting either--his k/bb ratio is as bad as McClung's, but in the minors. It's just that they are pulling a Brandon Morrow on him, which isn't good for anyone.
  11. What's the difference? None really. Both have been equally bad.
  12. And how many more pitchers would be in the Hall if they hadn't had careers cut short due to injury? Impossible to say.
  13. It was about time for this, though I thought it may have been Smith instead of Burns.
  14. The Brewers are fourth in the NL in runs. The fact that Gallardo hasn't gotten great support is more than likely just a fluke thing. Look at Looper's run support.
  15. The outfield defense is a good point, but that still doesn't explain everything, and that's why I used FIP. Washburn's K rate is the best it's been since 2002. His walk rate is the best it's ever been in his career, and the same with his home run rate. The defense has helped him, but he's still pitching better than he has in a long time.
  16. I'm not opposed to getting Morrow either, but is he even a good bet to be an improvement in the starting rotation this season? He's definitely had his issues. He's always had problems with walks. As fluky as Washburn's season has been, he'd be a better bet to help this season. It's still legitimately his best season in a long time. FIPs: Washburn 3.73 Morrow 5.65 (in limited innings) Suppan 5.59 Looper 5.64 Washburn is a pretty clear upgrade over at least the back end of the Brewers' rotation.
  17. And again, if it was just this isolated incident it's not a huge deal. But Macha has repeatedly passed obvious situations to remove him from the game this season. These are situations where it not only made sense because he's a young pitcher coming off injury, but it even made sense within the game situation. He still leaves him in even when the game situation doesn't call for it.
  18. Nothing wrong with 107. The dumb move is sending him back out after that when the team has a lead, has already bridged the gap to their good late inning relievers and his spot is coming up. Oh, and we're talking about a 23 year old who missed almost all of last year!
  19. Hopefully he's not hurt badly, but he has not deserved a spot on the team for weeks. It was inexcusable to keep throwing him out there with his 1:1 k/bb ratio. He isn't good at all.
  20. Worthy of a bump. Yet another situation tonight where Yo is pitching longer than he should. 107 pitches after seven with a two run lead and due to hit the next inning. Yet he's being thrown back out there in the eighth. You can't use Stetter, Coffey, DiFelice to get through the eighth inning? Start protecting your best asset!
  21. Because that's more than the market price for 37 year old outfielders that average around .250 with 70-75 RBI hitting in the middle of the lineup. Ibanez got $10.5 million per year after averaging 112 RBI the 3 previous seasons. Abreu got $5 million. Garrett Anderson is, was, and always has been a better hitter than Cameron. Now when Cameron was stealing 25-30 bases, he might have been nearly as valuable offensively. Anderson got $2.5 million, all for his offense, from Atlanta as a 37 year old. Based on that, I'd peg Cameron's offense to be worth around $2 million. Now his defense is probably worth $2-3 million added to that, but that's still a far cry from $10 million. It's a far cry from 10 million why, exactly? Because you repeatedly say so? You can't be seriously comparing Cameron to Ibanez or Abreu? Cameron is above average defensively in CENTER while those two are below average defensive CORNER outfielders. Cameron has been a bargain both seasons he's been with the Brewers. This really is well documented, but it seems at this point that you're set in your Cameron-hating ways.
  22. I agree that at this point, if the Brewers can't get top-flight pitching, they shouldn't really bother adding any pitching at all. Their nosedive has made them a slim playoff contender anyway. A rental at this point should be out of the question.
  23. The Brewers should have been able to get this done without including Parra and both Gamel and Escobar. Escobar, Lawrie and others would probably have done the trick, and would have given them a great chance the next two seasons. I'm still holding out hope.
