  1. They probably managed to win more than 70 games again, so they must be winners. Isn't that their goal every year?
  2. As soon as I read that I came hear to rip the headline as well. How tacky and unprofessional, but yeah, Haudricourt is probably not responsible for that.

That could've been ugly.
  4. Yeah, it would be insane to trade Feliz. He might be as good as Johnson by next year already.
  5. Personally I don't see the Brewers as an 80 win team right now with Escobar at short and Gomez in center. But obviously signings can/will change that. That said, if they DFA Bush to give Jarrod Washburn a multi-year deal, I'll be disgusted.
  6. Brutal. When he was healthy he was a great setup guy. The Brewers' pitching situation is looking worse and worse.
  7. Trade Rumors reporting the Mets may have just acquired Jackson.
  8. Wow, that's a huge bummer. I really wanted the Brewers to sign him.
  9. Except after last year you really can't even say that. There's nothing appealing about either of these two. The only thing that gives Suppan the "edge" is he'll be gone in one year, while Matthews still has two years left.
  10. The shine wore off Rivera's offense last year, though. He was big in 2008, but that was way too small of a sample size from which to draw any conclusion other than he helped win a few big games.
  11. Sweet pepper and egg sandwich!
  12. On the possession towards the end when Wisconsin got not one, but two offensive rebounds, and then Hughes rattled in the three... Well, I went ape crap. Outstanding game.
  13. This is dumb. Lopez wouldn't have accepted. Even if he would have, it wouldn't have been a bad contract and could have easily been traded if they wanted. Otherwise it was just good depth.
  14. Last year Hardy's WAR was 1.4. Cameron's was 4.3. If they spent their money on, say, Carl Pavano (3.7) and Aaron Harang (2.5), they likely come out ahead when the value of Gomez and Escobar is added.
  15. Anyone else miss Russ' old avatar?
  16. Jordan Taylor had a really nice game, and Leuer continues to be their best scorer. Other than that, it wasn't pretty. Gonzaga is pretty impressive.
  17. I didn't mean hits are solely dependent on defense, but defense is a pretty big factor. Your example of Washburn's low BAA is certainly due in large to Seattle's great defense. I have to disagree with your comment about walks. There are maybe three or four times in a season in which a walk can be viewed as a "good thing." A low walk rate for any pitcher is a good thing.
  18. First, that's not a ton of hits for 199 innings. Second, hits are dependent on team defense. He had an outstanding k/bb ratio of 3.77. His home rate was 1.13 per nine innings (You mentioned Looper; he allowed 1.8 homers per nine!) I had not realized he pitched that well. I'd definitely be pleased if they got him for a two year deal.
  19. I doubt they're getting smarter... It's just that this year's awards were that obvious. Next year I expect the incompetence to continue. And it's not like there was no incompetence involved, as shown by the runner ups people are discussing here.
  20. I am in love with Ryan Evans' flat top.
  21. Gamel, Salome and Lawrie is a huge offer, but I could probably be convinced to do it if Johnson signed that four year deal.
  22. If only the Brewers didn't abuse the living daylights out of Ben Sheets...
  23. All is not lost in the world.
  24. Yeah, I'd be fine with them signing Mulder as long as they added two other starters. You certainly can't pencil Mulder into the rotation at this point.
  25. Perhaps the Brewers aren't sold on McGehee long term at third. I know I'm not. Gamel's most valuable if he sticks at third, whether it's with the Brewers or in a trade.
