  1. Agree 100%. There are certainly plenty of guys in-house that need to step up, but an outside bat could/would do wonders I think. They have to lengthen the lineup somehow. I think maybe Nottingham can do that some at the catcher spot but they need to give him a bunch of starts to prove it. Not just every other day. One more impact bat would really make this lineup scary.
  2. I gotta think the Yankees can pretty much dictate the outcome if they want him badly enough.
  3. Maybe saving Woodruff as the extra man for the double header? That's what I was going to say too. Also, if you haven't looked at the post ASG schedule they have their work cut out for them. LAD, WAS, SF, LAD, Col with no off days until Aug 6. Kind of a make or break stretch there, can't have a repeat of last year. 3-2 or 4-1 to finish here would be nice leading into that Eh, seems like Pittsburg has been a horror show lately. I'm expecting a rough five games and second place by the break and then watch this place go into melt down mode.
  4. As always, it depends on cost.
  5. Maybe saving Woodruff as the extra man for the double header?
  6. Did you think this after last night when we scored a bunch of runs and the pen shut down the game? Or is this just a knee-jerk reaction because today didn't go well... I don't agree with the pen usage part but yeah, I thought they needed another bat long before last night.
  7. Did you think this after last night when we scored a bunch of runs and the pen shut down the game? Or is this just a knee-jerk reaction because today didn't go well... LOL +1 Reading some of the comments last night, you'd think the Brewers just lost Game 7 of the NLCS to the Cubs because of a Kyle Schwarber walk-off HR. But no, it was the rubber match of a three-game series against the Marlins. In July. A few grips are needed. I agree the over reactions last night were something, but that doesn't invalidate the point that this team needs another bat.
  8. Almost positive Miley is going to be on some sort of pitch count tonight. I would be elated if can get 5+ from him. I though they specifically said on the broadcast last nigh that he didn't have any limits.
  9. It isn't Manny or bust here folks. There are other options available. Having said that, I still feel like the Brewers have the best offer on the table, it just isn't what the Orioles want. If the prospect packages being talked about were actually being offered, he'd have been traded by now.
  10. I'm not saying you all are wrong. I'm just not as sold. The numbers do look good but that is my issue. There is a ton more to it than just the numbers. If I had a good, recent scouting report I might feel differently.
  11. 35 pitches on Monday. Off limits till today. I mean, they have done this all year regarding Hader's usage. You may not like it. I don't like it. But it is what it is, and they are sticking to it. What are the facts here. He is an all star on the best team in the NL. He is widely considered one of the more dominant relievers in the game at the moment. That is pretty compelling evidence that they are using him correctly. I'd bet a large sum of money they also have a plethora of statistical data to back up that usage. Anyone can disagree but I'm going with CC and staff on this one over a bunch of internet armchair QB's (myself included).
  12. We went 5-2 (I believe) against them on the year. Not sure what we are expecting. Are the Cubs and/or Dodgers not supposed to get swept by the Reds? Are the Red Sox not supposed to lose a series to the White Sox? It happens. They didn't get to the record they have by not regularly beating bad (and some good) teams.
  13. It is too bad we won't be getting Manny Machado then Yes. I'm hoping this is all just paper talk getting lathered up with no other deadline hot topics to report on. Moving Peralta, Burnes, or even a Nottingham for a rental seems 100% something Stearns would not do. Even if Nottingham is just OK (maybe even slightly less) he could be the answer at C and I think they will take the time to find that out. No way I trade Burnes. Peralta I might be able to be talked in to. I like Burnes and Woodruff better and I may even like Ortiz better. That is not saying Peralta sucks or his value should be taken lightly. I'm just saying if I have to part with one, it might just be Peralta.
  14. If so, there are other options.
  15. So other managers do leave in struggling relievers at times......
  16. Machado pulled in the 8th tonight.
