  1. This all reminds me of the starting pitcher rumor frenzy in the off season.
  2. If you consider that Miller would get plenty of starts at second, then it would be close.
  3. Miley hasn't been eligible to come off of the 60-day DL yet. Right, but at some point he will be. What happens then? I assume they have to activate him or lose him, right? Thus, I assume it will be him and not Woodruff pitching Thursday.
  4. I took those comments as greasing the wheels for a major trade acquisition for the rotation. It isn't going to be a Hamels or Happ, either. It's going to be bigger than that, and cost a lot. Boy, some of ya'll can sure make some leaps. I hope you're right.
  5. Fair enough, though that article does say the teams were listed in order of most liked package. The Dodgers were first.
  6. Which is why you go the Ellis/Ramos/Cervelli type route.
  7. Sounding less and less likely we can count on anything from Nelson this season given today's comments.
  8. I don't even know what this means.
  9. Sounds reasonable to me. He only threw 120 last year. He is already at 75 or so this year. If any part of the plan involves him being able to give the big league club innings later in the year they need to limit him some.
  10. From this article... Orioles busy fielding offers from Dodgers, six other teams on Manny Machado That doesn't say a whole lot except that maybe the Brewers are third in the pecking order of teams vying for the guy. I haven't read anything that would suggest anyone but he Dodgers as the clear favorite with the best deal on the table and the ability to significantly improve on that.
  11. Where is all this Machado to the Brewers optimism coming form? I just don't see it. I think perhaps we get an Ellis/Cervelli/Wilson type catcher but I think they like Pina more than folks on here think they should. My guess is that the Miller acquisition equals the Walker addition from last year. Then maybe a pen arm or two but I think most folks on here are going to be underwhelmed, much like last year.
  12. It's an obvious Brewer need, the Marlins are in a rebuild, and the two teams have already gotten together on a big deal this year. I imagine there will be other suitors for Realmuto if the Marlins shop him, though. But a deal would make good sense for both clubs. Which means it probably won't happen LOL. Well, it makes sense for us. It doesn't make sense for Miami unless we have the best offer on the table. Either way, I don't think Stearns ponies up what it will take to get him.

  14. That Nottingham fella says ‘Hi I’ve improved defensively and my offense is coming around now too’ - I think he’s an upgrade over both Pina and Kratz at this point even. I wouldn't go that far. Improved defense is not the same as good defense.
  15. I wonder if this is how other teams feel when they face our pitchers?
  16. He can't command anything right now and wasn't any better the last time we saw him pitch.
  17. Cain, Hader and Aguilar are mortal locks. I don't think any of that three are mortal locks. I do agree that if we have a single representative, it will come from that group.
  18. Which, to me, is really a credit to the manager who would absolutely be the manager of the year if the season ended today.
  19. Logically he was probably safe but I don't see the proof. Having said that, they probably call him safe.
