  1. Who was saying it was? I appreciate your grounded viewpoints because they make me think outside of my fandom comfort zone, even if they irk me at times It's a baseball message board. In March. It's all in good fun in the end. For the record, any projection system saying the Brewers have the 10th best rotation in baseball is seriously flawed in my opinion. It's implicit in the defensive nature with which you respond to just about every post that suggests this team is mediocre or worse. My critiques of this team don't exist because I hate this team. Lord knows there are easier teams to root for than the Brewers. I travel thousands of miles and spend thousands of dollars to make sure my boys and I get the chance to not only watch this team, but to watch them in Milwaukee. You don't do that if you don't, literally, love this team. That in no way precludes me from seeing the faults with the is team. Faults many, many other people see too. They could have addressed those faults, they didn't. Time will tell what the consequences for that are.
  2. But how could this be? The rotation is considered the achilles heel of the team. Sometimes projections are just crap. PECOTA had the 2015 Royals winning 72 games. Yeah, you're right. Rainbows and unicorns for everyone!
  3. Who gets defensive now? Touche But I love the Brewers, and it's March. I'm sorry, I'm not quite ready to write them off. There are different ways to be a fan. Yours isn't superior to any other.
  4. Who gets defensive now?
  5. +1 Don't tell them that, though. They'll only get defensive.
  6. I too wish they would have done more, but to call the team mediocre when they were one game from the playoffs, and made drastic offensive improvements to clean up deficiencies, I believe is shortsighted. I mean hell, might as well not even watch this year. When do the Packers start training camp? Someone posted a really good fangraphs article that how the Brewers over performed last year and look to be an 84 or so win team this year. By just about every projection I see they seem to be quite mediocre. Forget last year because it doesn't mean anything. What is it about this team that screams anything other than mediocre?
  7. Yep that's the only explanation It's not like the other ones are all that appealing.
  8. I'd love to know what really happened between those two acquisitions and the nothing that followed. I don't know but adding a FA starting pitcher was never part of the plan. If the prices are too high now they were certainly too high before everyone watched this market play out. I think if the plan all along was to try Braun at first, he would have been working at it long before spring training. I think that whole notion sprung up once they were convinced they couldn't trade Santana and it just stinks of trying to make the best of a bad situation. Stearns thought he was going to get what he wanted for Santana and misjudged the market like everyone else.
  9. I hear ya but the "it could be worse" argument doesn't really make me feel better.
  10. The season has lost a lot of the promise/luster that was created with the Yelich/Cain acquisitions. It seems odd to spend the player and cash resources they did to achieve mediocrity. I know the FO will spin it but it sure seems like they had a plan that they failed to execute entirely. Now you have a mediocre team that is neither young or old and quite literally stuck in middling purgatory.
  11. Someone once told me that if you're explaining, you're losing. Every time someone tries to rationalize this roster it ends up being a whole lot of explaining. I agree with Luke, this is not going to go the way you think it is going to go.
  12. Some poor defense in the 1st, and a leadoff HR in the 2nd, then settled in fine. I don't think it changes anything. He's in the rotation to start the year. Unfortunately I believe you are 100% correct.
  13. It might be the first time a legit source said the Brewers had interest. But you're right, it could be Heyman just connecting the same tired dots we have here for months. Hmmm, I thought Heyman had reported the Brewers as in on Cobb before.
  14. Alas, but still not news really.
  15. Well, I know one poster around here who will agree with that I will gone Clancey and Swing, go Suter go!
  16. Woodruff isn't going to be in the opening day rotation.
  17. Because there is a notion of a legitimate rumor versus filling up the thread with every random, know nothing tweet. Just because you see it doesn't mean it has one ounce of validity.
  18. DUH! Stearns has created a trend. 1B/OF log jams are all the rage now. Everyone wants one.
  19. Where do you see him signing? Milwaukee or Baltimore. I see St. Luis as a sneaky, lurker team too.
  20. So he made up the 7-14 days part? I don't think you understand how twitter works.
  21. I agree. In the end this off season will be weird because the big market teams largely stat out to re set the luxury tax. The small market teams will hold to the new philosophies but the large market teams will do what they always do which will make it look like the same old thing, and it probably will be.
  22. I never thought Darvish seriously considered Milwaukee for no other reason than that it was Milwaukee. Maybe I was wrong, maybe not. However, I believe that was a bit of a unique circumstance and I don't believe that this is a common occurrence where a player just flat refuses to play somewhere. I'm sure it happens, just not often. I do believe players have preferences. I would if I were in those shoes.
  23. Does the demand for the last big starter mean the price drives up on Cobb?
  24. You think that our current roster doesn't even put us in ballpark of contention? I think it's debatable.
  25. Unfortunately the battle for those last two spots comes down to guys with short track records and/or guys with pretty bad recent track records. This is not a battle of particularly attractive options.
