  1. Nope! Not even a remote possibility of that happening
  2. If only we had a LH bat who could play both 2B and LF we'd be set! Hopefully one that only makes $2M a year or so. A 900 OPS guy would be just what this offensive starved team could use now. Oh wait..... Players with an OPS like that for $2mil/yr don't grow on trees! Players like that are what Stearns is hoping they can develop with the farm system
  3. I can't even....this is just gold. Right up there with the recent 'I had drinks with Craig Counsell's wife so I know what I'm talking about' guy. I see you've been a board member for 10+ years, so you're obviously not 12. It's just...most people gain a sense of self-awareness over time and don't actually think that they're more qualified than the 30 men in the world deemed most qualified to run a Major League Baseball team. All I'm saying is..I'm too competitive to sit on my hands in the middle of a pennant race and wait for 3-4 years down the road to see if MAYBE my rebuilding plan works. That's why I am shocked DS is..You'd think GM's are super competitive too. Look, I'm not saying empty the farm necessarily but they need at least another bullpen arm and a starter. If they can get those two pieces..I really think they have a shot. Those two pieces SHOULD be fairly easy to get without giving up the farm I would think. If you can do it for quantity over quality, why wouldn't you?? Soooo.... you'd let your emotions reign supreme over rational, thought out decisions? Ummmm....as GM, you would run the Crew into being the laughing stock of MLB. Exactly why you are NOT a GM.
  4. Well they can't promote Phillips so it could just be because of that. Need to replace someone due to injury? Really want that lefty bat? Not sure what to think here. Waaaay too many possibilities. I agree I have no idea what it means. But we do know if the reports are to be believed that the price for Gray is Brinson, Phillips can't be called up to replace him, and to our knowledge no OF is hurt. But if Brinson is traded for Gray, Kirk N could be called up to be a stopgap until Phillips can be called up again.
  5. Maybe. Could easily be Phillips instead though
  6. And from what source did you hear this? DeGrom would be a fantastic addition that would be worth a kings ransom, but just don't see that as being remotely true imo. Sorry, was trying to be funny Thought you might have been
  7. I understand you. Feel the same way. Was just trying to add a little humor
  8. And from what source did you hear this? DeGrom would be a fantastic addition that would be worth a kings ransom, but just don't see that as being remotely true imo.
  9. I don't understand it either. Unless, just maybe, Sonny Gray has told Beane he would rather come to Milwaukee if traded, and hook back up with his college coach and our coach Johnson. Maybe it's possible that there's a chance Brinson or Phillips would be dealt in a trade for Gray, so Stearns is trying to find a proven (though not playing well lately) CF'er to replace whomever would be traded. Just a theory. Maybe this could be a reason why a trade for Gray hasn't happened already.
  10. He'll give us a better chance than Michael Blazek will. Look as terrible as we've been playing post all star break were all of one and a half games out of first place if the Cubs win tonight. The road trip trip is over. We can regroup and get our heads together. I realize Gray is an afterthought right now but like Mr T Plush says he can help more than this year. I personally dont see any chance Hader is in the rotation next year (or ever for that matter). So we have Burnes (who is not MLB ready and probably won't be until the end of next year at the earliest) and Woodruff, who might be a nice back of the rotation starter. By all means give them a chance when they are ready. But why do we have to wait on trying to win until we see how they handle being in the major league rotation? I can't imagine Anderson and Nelson are now all of a sudden sub 3 ERA pitchers. So rather than hope for a miracle with Anderson and Nelson continuing to be lights out and Woodruff and Burnes and Hader all coming into the rotation and instantly becoming quality starters why not go out an actually get an established (yes he's established) quality (yes he's quality) starter and take the pressure off all those other guys? Then we won't have to rely on the Michael Blazeks of the organization when we are still chasing a division title? Next year you'd have a rotation of Gray, Nelson, and Anderson with Garza, Davies and Woodruff as possibilities to round it out. That, along with a solid albeit inconsistent offense and a hopefully rebuilt bullpen can keep us in the wildcard hunt while we wait on the other prospects to see if they pan out. But yeah, the "oh we aren't as good as the Cubs are now so we shouldn't trade for Gray" argument makes no sense to me. To me, trading for a guy with the talent and the contract of Gray makes all the sense in the world. Having said that, Im not delusional. I know it's not happening. Be honest now paul253. Was your comment " I know it's not happening " just reverse psychology tactic for you because you actually want DS to trade for Gray? So you aren't as disappointed if we don't get Gray?
  11. Lmao! Then please stop putting our good players or top prospects as your avatar! BAAAAAD JOO JOO!!
  12. It could be any of these reasons. Likely a combination of a few together. Imo, steroids or HGH could still be 1 of the main factors. Bat speed, along with swing trajectory, is a key factor with hitting HR's. The stronger a player is, and with a mechanically sound compact swing, will hit the ball GREAT distances!!!! Also, the faster a pitcher throws the ball, the further it will fly when it's squared up on the bats sweet spot.
  13. Or possibly, Theo is just making a feeble attempt at getting DS to make a nervous decision to make a trade for a starter. Just a thought. To Theo: "Good luck with that ya Cha Chi!"
  14. I'll take it! Had a feeling Cooper was going for an arm. If he only played 3B, the Red Sox would have done the deal already I hear ya. For some reason, I have a feeling DS will still trade for a starter. Not sure why, but I can see Verlander, Stroman, or possibly Darvish or Hamels ending up in Milwaukee before the deadline. Lol. Personally, if he'd have to give up too many top prospects to get one of those, I'd be more comfortable with him bolstering the pen a some more and be done with it. Just my opinion. Time will tell
  15. A totally out of the blue move would be renting Darvish as Stearns has basically said he's looking for guys who will be around past this year. Cueto would be a very interesting move as well. Or maybe he'll switch his focus to Verlander which was my geuss. Detroit wants to cut some salary so might not take Brinson to get the deal done. Maybe Detroit would add RP in on the trade. May need to better prospects if would be for Verlander and a good BP arm. Maybe something like: Crew trades Phillips, Ray or Clark, Medeiros, Freddy Peralta could get it done. With Detroit pay "X" amount of Verlander's remaining contract. Just a thought. I'm not as high on Ray as some fans are. Obviously only person who knows for certain is Stearns himself. If anyone feels the Crew's offer would need to be more/less, feel free to respond. By the way, I would be all for Stearns trading for Stroman or Archer if that would end up being what he could get to happen.
  16. Still not 100% correct. So booby prize is coming your way!
  17. I'll post my list at a later time. I'm curious though, as to how much trade value Nathan Kirby holds at this time? Maybe just a risk/reward prospect now because of his injury history? If so, then obviously some teams might not be interested, so the Brewers would probably better off keeping him then.
  18. I'm daring to be different lol. I'll say that Verlander will decide to waive his no trade clause. To be in a pennant race again. Brewers trade with: Tigers Brewers recieve: Verlander and a RP, (with Detroit picking up "X" $ amount of Verlanders remaining contract) Tigers recieve: Phillips, Cordell/Cooper, Medeiros, Bickford/Yamamoto, Orimoloye, and possibly a PTBNL (maybe a 5th-15th rd draft pick from this years draft. Once they're allowed to be traded.) Be honest now, many of us would really appreciate seeing Kate Upton in the stands LOL
  19. The Blues Brothers and Apocalypse Now
