  1. Brewers, Brewers, keep turning up the heat.
  2. I'm going to have to side with Eric Young on this one.
  3. I went to the game at the Metrodome two years ago, and was able to purchase tickets from scalpers for far less than $60. Right in the thick of the student section, in perfect view of the inexplicable stuffing of Maroney and the blocked punt..easily the most amazing turn of events I've ever witnessed at a sporting event. Good times.
  4. Difference in color is upperclassmen/underclassmen, and the only difference between the two is that you need an upperclassmen ticket to sit in section P. They determine which ticket you receive based on the number of credits you've completed in school, not the number of years you've been there. This year, the upperclass tickets are black/gray.
  5. Quick question so I know what to do when in NJ or Oregon: Gas station attendant that pumps your gas - customary to tip, or no?
  6. Why bring Favre into this? At last check he's still out there for every game, and every play that he's physically able to. If he's playing for the record books, he's sure doing a lot more than he needs to. I'm not going to further open that can of worms, so that's the last I'll speak of that part. Congratulations to Barry Bonds, I guess. 756 is a pretty big number. My dislike of him is not as extreme as some others, but it'll be nice to see him out of the game at last.
  7. I'd have to say bruised internal organs are pretty serious injuries..but I suppose it could have been worse. Like you know, death.
  8. What's Confusing You? - The two newest posts on the Off-Topic poem as of this moment: "Naughty Brewers Poem" and "My Rapp!!".
  9. When I visited Miller Park this summer on our trip from AZ, when we walked next to the ballpark before parking lots opened (we hit the team shop first) I could smell that County Stadium smell again. That smell will always be in my mind as Brewer's baseball. It's getting there, I think. At least the sterile 'new stadium smell' is gone from Miller Park now. It's 2:04am and I'm waxing poetic about the aromas of buildings. http://static.yuku.com/v2//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/indifferent.gif Man, I loved that first site of the grass coming up out of one of the tunnels into the seating area. oo, forgot about this part. Although the ability to see the field from any where on the concourse is obviously nice, having the first view of the field being as you walked up the tunnel in the lower grandstand was pretty neat.
  10. Things I miss: - The smell. Hard to describe other than 'musty', but that distinct odor let me know that yes, I was at a Brewers game. - Sitting in the first few rows of the upper boxes. I'm not even sure if actual distances support this, but I felt 'close' to the action. - And along those lines, the two-tier design Things I don't miss: - The bathrooms - Getting spat on from the catwalks while sitting in the lower grandstand. - The upper deck support beams While I'm glad we have Miller Park, I'd love to experience CS just one more time..
  11. I rule. http://static.yuku.com/v2//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/indifferent.gif.. Anyways, there's an article in the issue about the whole Nutt-Mustain saga at Arkansas and how a message board fan site/community was the catalyst for it. For whatever reason it reminded me of bf.net, although nothing quite like that has ever happened here. Also a little snippet about a writer's experience running the sausage race as well. The 0:01 at the end of the issue was disappointing, as I've never heard of an underdog with a top-7 payroll..
  12. Now that some more details have come out that have clarified some things, I think the importance of not jumping to conclusions (belated kudos to naivin for the Office Space reference) is pretty clear. After taking a little time to digest it, I actually don't see this incident being that big of a deal. Two possible scenarios that will inevitably be brought up by fans and media depending on what happens next.. -The Brewers go on a hot streak in the next couple of weeks, and people will point to this incident as being the catalyst and turning point. -The Brewers continue to play poorly in the next couple of weeks and slip out of the race, and people will blame this incident as being the catalyst and turning point. ..when really, neither winning nor losing in the future have much to do with this event. Nothing that happened in the dugout today will help or hurt the players in coming through with RISP, the bullpen in holding leads, and the starting pitching to go beyond 5 innings. As fans, our jobs are to over-analyze and that's exactly what we're doing. I trust that the actual players involved have already put this behind them.
  13. I've been posting here for over two years now but started reading the site long before that...how long have the IGTs been around? For whatever reason, I don't remember it being a real fixture until last season.. I guess I just don't have the passion for it that others do..I'll check in on it on days that I'm stuck watching on GameCast and need something clarified..but that's about it. It can be hard sifting through the one-line outbursts of anger and exclamations of joy to find actual information about what happened at times..but I suppose it captures what people were feeling at the moment, which can be interesting.
  14. Is that semi-manly? Any tears shed when it comes to dogs and sports are very permissible, in my book. I have an 9 year old yellow lab that is healthy and happy right now, and it hurts to even think that someday down the road I might have to make some tough decisions.
  15. Hours later, I'm still trying to figure out how this makes any sense for the Pirates.
  16. There's also the following play being discussed in the OT forum..can't really top this. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif p092.ezboard.com/fbrewers...7530.topic
  17. It could be, but it just as easily might not be. The win against Detroit the day after the no-hitter was claimed by many to be a turning point.
  18. No matter what happens in the rest of this game, some lucky fan in Section 404 ended up with an unexpected souvenir tonight!
  19. He hit Pedro Feliz in the face. FYI, it was Pedro Lopez of the Reds.
  20. So what is keeiping people who dont live in Wisconsin from just looking up a WI Zip code and punching it in? I'm guessing that your credit card billing address will be verified when you attempt to checkout.
  21. Even leaving the issue of MLS support aside, I think this is an awful idea. A soccer field on a racetrack would be a joke. Teams all over the MLS are starting to build new soccer-specific stadiums because playing in football stadiums is not ideal for spectators. A racetrack would be an even worse viewing experience. I'm trying to think of a baseball equivalent, but it's difficult. Maybe something like the Brewers deciding not to build Miller Park during the baseball stadium construction boom, but instead deciding to move to Camp Randall or Lambeau Field to save money.
  22. Brewers, Brewers, turn the heat back on.
  23. My dad threw underhanded - this did not help in advancing my baseball career.
  24. The umpire asked for help down the 1st base line, and then confirmed that the batter did swing for strike three. The signal that the ump made may appear ambiguous, but that fist pump is his standard strike three call. You can see it well on his strikeout call in clip, especially on the second hitter. The ensuing discussion was whether the batter ran outside the circle (he didn't) and whether the catcher made the tag like he claimed he did (clearly he didn't). The three runs scored on the play made the difference in the game, as the final score was 6-4. You can read all about the play here. Link. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  25. This also happens in car chases on the ground, guy speeding off from a robbery, cops chasing him, someone on the road is hit. THat is probably Felony Murder too. While what you are saying is true, I don't think this is a fair comparison in this case. In that situation, a bystander is put in the line of danger by the direct actions of the criminal. Whether the civilian is hit with the criminal's car or by a police car accidentally, the responsibility will lie on the criminal for putting others in harm's way. If a civilian lost control of his car to avoid the chase and ended up hitting a tree, I think responsibility would fall on the criminal as well. The more appropriate comparison in this case would be if two competing news crews were covering the chase in vehicles instead of helicopters. Say they lose control of their cars while jockeying for position to get footage and cause a two-car accident only involving themselves a block behind the chase..how could this be pinned on the criminal? With all that said..why anybody would think to go on a high-speed chase is beyond me. Although I don't believe he should be charged with the helicopter crash, I hope he gets punished to the fullest extent of the law for whatever crime he originally committed and for all the laws broken during the chase.
