  1. If Ray King is available 9/1, he might end up in Milwaukee again.
  2. There will be a trade market for SP's this winter, just like always. And, if they are going to have a chip like Rickie or JJ available, decent SP will be expected back.
  3. I'd have him above of all except Gamel, Laporta, Escobar, and maybe Salome. Jeffress has a very high ceiling, but is a young P, a high flame out risk even without his "issues". LuCroy is solid, but still projects as a backup or just another C. Brantley is younger than Green, has nearly the same OPS, a better OXS, and plays a tougher position on the spectrum...at a higher level.
  4. Cameron has an option, so I doubt they'll get anything for him. They'd have to offer Gagne arby, for $8M or more, so that's doubtful as of this second, to say the least. Mota does not seem like a A level FA, as he struggled mightily last year, and seems to have hit a wall.
  5. Colby, look back at the archived P50's, and you'll see nicer things said about Krynzel than Brantley...he's simply oodles better, but I guess he's overlooked because he's not a #1 pick. Stat guys love Mike Brantley. I'll hold the banner for him until the others come around.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  6. To mention them in the same sentence is ridiculous. Gwynn might well be a starting CF, or more likely a platoon guy or reserve. Brantley is doing very well at a level Gwynn struggled at when he was older...he's very young for his level and performing excellent. Tony's D is better, but Brantley is levels above as a prospect.
  7. An open-air stadium does not get you prime dates in June, July, and August.
  8. If Suppan and Padilla got $10M+, I'd say AJ might get $15M on the FA market. As stated, he'll be just below Sheets.
  9. Hart was a top prospect from very early on, just not of the Prince variety.
  10. Those 3, even with Carlos V, won't be the best offer, though it would be a starting point. Several teams could not beat that...but one could, and will.
  11. May opt out rather than $ guaranteed, I guess.
  12. Burnett is a classic underachiever, but he is solid. I believe his option years become guaranteed if he is dealt. $12M is not out of the ballpark for AJ, but he has not been healthy and dependable either.
  13. But it is easy to draw 6K for the Saints, there are 1M people in that area.
  14. Wolf and Maddux are both terrible away from Petco. I would not give more than fringe prospects for either. They might revert to the means, but they probably won't.
  15. I would agree with Briggs, not that Washburn is CC at all, but he's a solid arm who won't cost an arm and a leg. He's also not going to walk after 12 starts.
  16. Padilla would be a nice addition if the Crew lost an SP, or if someone falls apart. I'm sure Doug is kicking a lot of tires right now to gauge the market, as he'll need to know what to offer ASAP if a SP hits the market. For $3M, Padilla is a nice SP. That's a lot of cash otherwise. We also know they like Gwynn and Zach J.
  17. No one of any consequence thought Nelson Cruz was a future star, as he has no plate discipline. Laporta or Gamel is oodles better now, never mind when they are as old as Cruz. I'd hate to lose 6-6.5 years of either for a dozen starts of anyone...if they stay healthy. 2 draft picks would be a nice consolation, but unlike with guys like Inman, a pick would have to overachieve greatly to be as highly considered as Matt ot Mat.
  18. CWolf, did you read that or figure it out. Unless my math is off, I do not see how that can happen, as 20 x 18K = 360K, and no NHL team averages anywhere nearly as low as 9K per.
  19. Rivera, Dillon, or Nelson playing 1B 80% of the time...unreal.
  20. If Prince lasts like Vaughn did, he's got another decade left. That's not a concern unless you sign him to a 11 year deal.
  21. The year McGwire hit 70, his BP sessions were legendary. Everyone would watch, and an ovation went without saying. That said, many guys do nearly the same thing, it's just no one watches.

  23. I just ran some numbers and could find no correlation at all. In fact, some of the unluckiest teams this year have excellent bullpens and hit well with RISP. I'd say it's almost entirely good fortune.
  24. Gwynn is not a throw in for many teams, but the O's have no use for him, with Adam Jones growing into the CF spot.
  25. Beane would need ML pitching in return. They are right in it, so the A's are unlikely to move any frontline guys.
