    That's a perfect example of why "I watch every game and I know" doesn't work. Actually, the example noted is a favorite of mine. Many fans believe their favorite player should never have a day off, and they also have no idea if they are banged up and the team is not making that public. One look at Ripken's career stats in September will tell you how important it is for a player to be rested and at near full strength. Heck, we still have people claiming Hart was "benched" in May, despite JS articles that talked about how his wrist was hurt, as many of us assumed at the time. Proof is a strange beast when folks ignore the facts.

    No, 13 pitchers will not happen, barring for a week or two at some point for doubleheaders or guys being nicked up.

    Allow me to say I am far from concerned about the Brewers having 15 quality arms on the 40 man, and up to 17-18 that could easily be considered for the 25 man. Teams are signing guys with 7 ERA's in '07 to guaranteed deals. No team gets through a seaosn with 5 SP's or 12 pitchers. Guys with options like Stetter and Parra can be kept at AAA until needed.

    Not very good. His AAA stats since 2005 are rather weak, to be polite. He did not even K 5 guys per 9 innings last year. I don't know his curveball went.

    The only thing really missing from the bench listed in RoCo's post is a guy making $5M who used to be good. The bench above is balanced, decent OBP, some pop, and you could easily imagine the guys starting or platooning elsewhere. That's a near perfect bench. In fact, only Counsell's salary keeps it from being perfect.

    To be very simplistic, SLG drops so much because Japan's parks are so tiny. OBP falls because the quality of play is so much better.

    His SLG will drop off a cliff, but the rest will probably fall about 10%. He'll be a solid player. Dave Pinto discussed this as well.

    As I said last night, Blalock's splits do not make much sense, as TEX has been a neutral park the past two years. I think they will balance out, and actually, Miller Park may suit him.

    Gwynn has been rumored to TEX twice last July, and they need rotation help. They would seem to maych up wonderfully, and Doug's constant harping about a LH 3B seems very strange.

    I was unaware of the Melvin drafting status. That makes more sense now than it did before.

    Blanton to Milwaukee for Chris Capuano and Dave Bush would also make sense. The Brewers need quality more than quantity when it comes to starting pitching, and it would allow them to save a little money. So, Beane would add payroll as he tears it all down and rebuilds? I don't think the author thought that one through, to say the least. Haren would take Carlos V and another top prospect, and probably a 3rd guy.

    283/.336/.391/.727 Average CF is a .271/.337/.422/759 hitter, so if So is an average defender, he's not a bad stopgap at all. Granted, he's probably not going to improve at his age, but as a platoon guy or a reserve, he's a fine choice.

    The C they turned down is very highly regarded. Scott's value is much higher than many of us had hoped.

    I'd hate to give up both Villy and Parra for anyone, but a deal for a 23 year-old closer might make me think about it. I'd see if Billy would take Parra and a minor league top guy or two first.

    Villy, Parra, and another top prospect would be considered for Bedard only. I wouldn't do it.

    As Toby pointed out, a Wii is not a necessity by any means, so I would not feel bad if I would had resold mine, or several. If you're charging $20 for a bottle of water or formula after a hurricane, it's an ethical question. However, a Wii is just a silly toy. My son is 5, and he will enjoy it, but he also enjoys boxes stuff comes in. Supposedly, friends of mine who still work at TRU say Nintendo is short in part due to the fact their suppliers cannot make the "chips" or some vital part quickly and good enough. Not sure if that's true or not, but I've heard it from 3 different people. Finally, as for getting one before Xmas, I'd decide what your max is, add $20 to it, and bid on Ebay for a while. Many went for $325-350 when we got ours...some do slip through the cracks, weekends especially, when fewer folks are online. I bid that with hours to go and no one topped it.

    And the most obvious to many of us, Lofton, has yet to be mentioned in relation with the Crew.

    Got mine on Ebay for $292 +40 shipping. I'd suggest it to just get it done so you don't have to think about it. Just ensure it is listed as new and in the box.

    Was Myers ever charged with anything? It sounded to me as if his wife was at fault as he was.

    I'm no doctor, but i believe aspirin alone causes stomach bleeding. That's why it's good to drink a lot of water with it, and milk is even better.

    How fast is Ford? How would he compare to a Mel Stocker or Joey Gathright, the two fastest runners I can recall. Both have been seen standing up after a slide when the ball arrives on a SB attempt. I think an OF or two may have a different team soon, as the Crew has a ton of them.

    Doug himself said he would not give up any of the young core for Nathan. As for whether Hall is a part of that, not sure, but I agree with Peavey.
