  1. Mo is an above average PG, meaning he's in the top 15. He isn't big enough to defend versus the other team's shooting guard, so that's not an option. And he's 24, so he should get better. He ain't John Stockton, but he's by far the best available PG on the market right now.
  2. I've heard unofficial counts of 1500-2000...they only release the full-season equivalents officially.
  3. Having to sneak liquor in somewhere seems like it must be on the list of "do I have a problem?" or not. I'm surprised the canteen is in the heel...that's where all the weight is, for gosh sakes. I assumed it was sewn into the strap holding the toe in place.
  4. This time of year, they talk often, just to see who's being offered and who they are asking about. For instance, if Doug does not see a match with Cincy, he might call Wayne just to discuss another offer or another team...Doug might say, "You know, I hear the Dodgers might like to add a pitcher, have they called about Lohse?", and Wayne will say they did, but only wanted Harang for a prospect Doug covets. Doug could then call LA to make an offer since they are dangling that kid for a good arm. I remember one GM saying he called Theo Epstein to leave him a voice mail at 4AM and Theo answered the phone, but said he couldn't talk, he had another GM holding. Teams that want to move some players probably talk to every GM once a week 'til the end of July.
  5. Much more likely was about Weathers or their LH whose name escapes me. Or, he might have just returned a call, or was asking Wayne if he intended to move anyone, to gauge the market.
  6. Yep, I would agree, almost any IF/OF could be had for a pennant worthy addition. Escobar and Parra in a package would get us all but the very top guys for 2 months.
  7. With the youth on the team for '08, I would not be surprised at all to see a FA LF brought in, and/or a couple relievers. 3 mil is doable, as they look like they will do 2.7M building off a disappointing '06. If this team hits the playoffs, season tiks might get back near the '01 level, and all others will expand as well.
  8. Weeks is not doing much, probably due to his wrist, but still is not far from league average OPS for 2B. And his defense is not far from ordinary either, a vast improvement from '06. Hart is a middle of the order spot away from being an all-star, as RBI's are still used by many to gauge effectiveness, while in reality, they are just a result of coming up with lots of men on base.
  9. Thanks Barb, I guess I got confused because Miami is offering "the max" they are allowed to.
  10. So, are you saving all the abandoned buildings for those 3 firms? Times have changed in the last 50 years, but the broken windows and grafitti covered buildings you see from 94 are what most folks think of...hardly a selling point. A major renovation should be well underway, but other than what the casino has pushed, Milwaukee still looks the same as it did decades ago. Meanwhile, you can't even recognize much of the Twin Cities if you were there 5 years ago.
  11. Many parks, credit unions, and even pools offer cheap Noah's Ark tickets...my wife just bought a couple for herself and our son on Monday, $18 I think.
  12. Aren't the Bucks offering him the max? And yes, Mo has every right to do what's best for himself...he's a free agent.
  13. The team pays no rent at the Bradley Center and gets a share of concession and suite revenue from all Bradley Center events. The team's lease expires Sept. 30, 2004.--JS I have to believe the Bucks got a better deal, not a worse one. They do need a new arena, however, or they'll be gone in a decade. I don't think the Pettits are going to cut another check, and the city is clueless, as they watch empty warehouses and industrial buildings and yearn for a return to 1950.
  14. I shudder at what Cuban would do for the Cubs. The Mavs went from a laughingstock to a top 5 franchise under him. However, I cannot imagine Bud choosing a group led by him, unless they were the highest bidder by hundreds of millions...he is not the quiet type, to say the least..
  15. The Phillies rumor looks like a downgrade for each player swapped.
  16. how you guys get your blog out there in the open and get it to the point like for instance, Al's Ramblings, got to. Write poorly, but often. Get people to link to you. Done. Links are by far the most important thing. Back when I started Ramblings, it was unique, and people were happy to link you. I get a couple requests a day now, and many have nothing to do with the Crew.
  17. MLS is correct, I forgot about Gwynn, who does not look a thing like Daniel.
  18. Bob Jarvik? I don't see any resemblance. Now, Daniel Negraneau and Tony G...that's a separated at birth.
  19. I'd also take '09 or '10 as my guess for the best year.
  20. To restate Jopal, if she's spending the night at <6 weeks, he should be giddy and let it be.
  21. The next best PG is Steve Blake, who they traded and has little interest in coming back. I assume they'd go with Bell at PG and bring in a veteran backup if Mo leaves.
  22. Cordero for Bush or a package including Vargas/Parra might make some sense in both the short and long-term. There's little doubt Claudio would be a top guy in DC as well.
  23. I would guess the Red are looking at the Brewers' pitching and offered up Griffey in conversation. With Hall out, maybe there was a talk about how much salary Cincy would pick up to move Junior.
  24. Since they play basically everyday, there is no fatigue factor. Small samples lead to goofy numbers, and this is one example. If you'd look at the team's history, I would guess they are all but equal on a daily basis.
  25. Not my workplace, but in the same building. Sorry I can't assist. Just today, while I was out front, a group of 5 walked out for lunch or a smoke and I'd say 3 were every bit as pretty. And, while 18 is young, 21-22 seems "mature", at least in comparison.
