  1. Hudson for Prince would have been selling for a need. Most see Hudson as a solid #3/4 SP, and maybe a #2. He does have 6 years of team control too. I think they'll do better in the offseason.
  2. TB probably can't afford him. That's exactly what they want for Prince though.
  3. Casey is still under team control for 4 years, and will be cheap for 2 more. He won't be shopped, and is extremely unlikely to be moved.
  4. Nothing wrong with Doug going for it, especially at the minimal cost. Anybody who's ever seen Inman pitch knew his ceiling was limited. Garrison was/is a middling prospect, and Thatcher a loogy. I wanted Linebrink signed to be the closer instead of Cordero. You don't want to give up guys like Yo. Those 3 were exactly the type you jettison to chase a playoff spot.
  5. McClendon looks like a Chuck Crim at best, but if he can be decent for his cheap years he can have a ton of value. Better versus RH bats, but not terrible versus lefties.
  6. He's just using UZR improperly, as defined by Fangraphs themselves. It'd be like using data from Cain right now.
  7. I'm sure Cliff Lee has no desire to play in MIL, never mind others will outbid the Crew. It's not the $20M a year that is a killer, it's the 5-7 year length, risk of injury, and the like.
  8. The sun rises almost identically now, but for whatever reason, it sets 2 hours later in Anchorage right now. So, if that's the same, it's 2 hours more light daily in the summer.
  9. Anchorage is warmer than much of the northern USA because of its ocean location. As pointed out, days may be slightly longer, but not that much, as it's light here from 5-9:30 at the peak.
  10. The irony is, the guy at Fangraphs (I think, it could have been elsewhere) said they should play Dickerson 3 days a week and Cain 4. Of course, they often do not play every day, but some sort of time share, resting Cain versus tough RHP, only makes sense. Cain is not going to hit .450, and as soon as they figure out how to get him out, may need time off to regroup. Escobar has looked far more comfortable since they sat down with him, gave him a couple days off, and given him a day or two off a week. Using Counsell versus a RHP Alcides is not likely to have success against is just common sense. We get spoiled when a guy like Braun or Fielder come along and are immediately stars. Even Hart, and Weeks too, were rested and set up to succeed their first year or year plus.
  11. Cruz seems a good bet to take Counsell's spot next year. If so, 4 of 5 spots are full, barring pickups.
  12. Jack Z literally just said a couple days ago the manager would stay. JZ should have resigned last year, when they won 10 more games than they should have. He's said and done a lot of dumb things this season, and needless to say, the bloom is off the rose. Seriously, how could I notice SEA's offense would be historically bad, but the front office not notice it?
  13. Not to mention, what's wrong with Gabe Gross? Solid platoon OF.
  14. As for Gerut, he will be a FA after this year, easily. I meant he won't be offered arby, as he might accept it. However, it doesn't matter, as I'm 98% sure he will not garner a pick anyway, being hurt all year. Counsell would have a ton of value to a contender or two, but Inglett can't play SS every day. Cruz is on the 40 and having a fine year, so if Craig would want to go elsewhere, that would not be a sticking point.
  15. Colby, I can't believe they'll offer Gerut arby, he might get a couple mil. Dickerson and Inglett will be cheaper and just as effective. Gerut might be activated as well, he's been playing in Arizona and healthy.
  16. Very nice return for 45 days of Edmonds. Just under .400/.500 in AAA, and he can play all 3 OF spots. 28, so he's no high ceiling kid, but he might have a nice run as a cheap reserve. I've wondered aloud why he did not get more playing time instead of Nix.
  17. Gamel is certainly the odds on favorite to be starting in MIL somewhere next year, 1B/LF/RF. Overbay is likely a good comp, as he won't hit 40 HR's, but may hit 25 HR's and 40+ doubles, and have a solid OBP.
  18. They are -5 UZR/150 for the year. Very poor defensively seems a bit of an exaggeration. Every team in MLB is between +10 and -10 runs in team defense. It's hardly worth mentioning.
  19. MLBTR reported many teams are after Davis. He's still just 24 and he has LH power. If Prince ends up in TEX, he'll be part of the return.
  20. TOR needs to start playing more little ball. They'll never win hitting HR's.
  21. The system Doug took over was probably worse than an expansion team, as they get extra picks and such, and are expected to be awful. He built it from the ground up, and also had success in TEX, where they never have (until now, after going broke).
  22. They could pay $2-4M if it got them better prospect(s). They won't worry about the PR hit, most fans won't even know/care.
  23. It is recommended you use a 3 year sample of UZR because of its small sample nature. If you look at a month, a couple phantom Miller Park errors can make a huge difference. That's why Weeks, being almost at 0 is a huge accomplishment, and indicates his vast improvement. He's now very quick at turning two and accurate, while he used to be slow and often off target. Those that still want him moved to the OF are living in the past. He's now plenty capable, if not average. I always find it ironic so many want to promote players before they are ready, and then complain when they make mistakes of immaturity in their first 2-3 seasons, and want to move them to yet another position they have to learn. Escobar is 23 and already a solid player, albeit a bit below average with the bat. As he nears his peak of 26-29, he'll be better. Considering he costs near the minimum, slightly below average is perfectly acceptable. UZR has the Brewers -6 runs on defense this year. Every team in MLB is between +10 and -10. You can argue their defense is horrible and has cost them dozens of games, but the numbers do not show that to be the case. SEA has proven defense, at best, is a distant 3rd to offense and pitching.
  24. I love Doug, but I would like to see DePo when Melvin leaves.
  25. Am I a year off? Maybe so.
