  1. HOU playing so many games two hours later would affect their TV money, as well as their fans ability to enjoy their games.
  2. Last I checked, NW might make the tourney.
  3. They'll hit 2.2M tickets sold by May or June. 2.4-2.5M is the likely minimum, barring an end of the world scenario.
  4. You used to be able to increase the idle, but that was probably before the computer era.
  5. I know little about trains except Amtrak is a huge money loser and suffers from low ridership all over except the Northeast. I wonder how the Cities high speed rail is going, they added it after we left, and lots of people were excited about it. I would not expect it to be profitable, though many might like it as an option, subsidizing something the market can't make work will help some, but everyone will pay for it.
  6. Homer, worst case scenario, you can get on a state program, though it is expensive, about $600/month. If you are in IL, I'm not sure what they have, but odds are, they got something. I would not wait for health care reform, as that won't take affect until '14...if ever. It's really not reform anyway, it's Medicaid expansion, and as a single guy with no kids, you'd have to be under $12-14K to qualify. If you are wondering about a specific thing, shoot me a pm and I'll look into it. However, don't let it stand in the way of your dreams...as you as you do things properly, health bills can't be a reason to make a lien against your business, if you set it up properly. I do know many policies only consider it active if you have had issues in the last 3 years...of course, one trip to the doc, that'll stop that.
  7. Zurch, your math seems to be off..or maybe you meant 3/10?
  8. I think they could heat it up for basketball, just need a bunch of portable heaters in the court area.
  9. Maximizing his earnings...it seems unlikely he's going to lose anything by not settling now, it seems the offer will still be there in a few days.
  10. He's 32 and a 2B/OF. He does hit decently, but he's neither young nor versatile, great guy for AAA if he'd go there.
  11. I have a lot more confidence in WR survival now that I hear the owners may not care if they make money.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I see them being near the bottom in attendance, but if it's a civic pride thing, that will not matter.
  12. I've said it before, I don't think there's anywhere for Conan except Fox...and that's not much of an option, as many local stations would not carry him until later...they depend on that 10/11 slot for local ads, as they carry Seinfeld and such, which often finish 2nd, right behind the top local newscast. Other than out of the box thoughts like HBO or TBS/USA, I don't see much of a shot for him for now.
  13. Doug wanted more OBP than Olivo could offer, in my opinion. I think there's a reason we never heard the Crew mentioned for any C's...Doug went after the best OBP guy available, and may well have turned to trade otherwise (talks with PIT about Doumit).
  14. Conan was getting about half the viewers that Leno did, long before all the press of late. NBC's choice was obvious, once they gave into the affiliates and ended the Leno at 9 experiment. Again, I do not understand any discussion of Leno's wrongdoing...his choices were to leave or go back to 10:35. He decided to go back to his old time slot.
  15. Who's alienated by Leno? He got his show moved from 9 to 10:35. His options were to quit or accept it, and he decided to stay. Try as some will, he did nothing wrong except decide to go back to his slot of many years. The irony to me is, some are saying Leno should quit "because he has plenty of money". Heh, Conan made more in 7 months than many of us will ever see. He never has to work again, to say the least. Feeling sorry for Conan is like feeling sorry for the Yankees if they don't win next year, or for Leo because his first model choice of the night got alcohol poisoning and he had to take the "pudgy one" who weighs 87 pounds back to his room.
  16. Jay was easily the highest rated at 10:35 before, and will be again. I still think the 9 idea is a good one, as Jerry Seinfeld put it, at the wrong time. NBC gave up a few months in, but I'm not sure why anyone would feel Jay will not return to the top at 10:35...he is going back against the same competition he has beaten for almost a decade. I admire Conan for throwing away $28M or whatever, but unless he has an offer from Fox that is avoiding the press, he has nowhere to go.
  17. At some time, I assume they will make you subscribe to a certain level to get unlimited streaming, but for now, most folks never use it.
  18. It's hardly a mess, as Leno will likely return to being the top guy, and if Conan stays, he'll do well in that slot. Fallon is unwatchable, though I'm not his demo either.
  19. I would say Bo's teams have a system to work, and it's much easier to work consistently at home.
  20. Needless to say, I don't see cable or satellite TV's demise anymore than the long predicted VCR/DVD killing of movie theaters. Anyone who watches live sports or current news will have cable. A basic package is barely over $1 a day. There is an avenue for streaming, but for all but a few, it'll be in addition to cable/sat. I can see it hurting the premium options, like HBO and such, in a few years.
  21. Damon had a sub 800 OPS away from new Yankee Stadium...teams see that and have shied away. He's also not as good defensively as Corey. The only benefit of a signing would be signing a FA for free and then being able to trade away the incumbent...of course, the acquiring team knows they can just sign Damon as well.
  22. 6 teams have interest, but not all are offering a multi-year. Whoever is will likely get him.
  23. He'll be a SP. Guys with multiple surgeries do not warm up 2-3 times a game.
  24. Blackburn and Slowey each have 4 years of team control left. They would not take anything less than one of those two, or Baker, but i assume he's untouchable.
  25. I would think Guerrero may be on the fast track due to his Spanish speaking ability alone, never mind what else he brings. Without Castro, you have to wonder if they have a coach who is fluent.
