  1. Hernan hits LH and can play CF, and is younger than Heether. No way I protect Adam instead of Hernan. The problem is, I think HI is out of options, so unless he's on the 25 man next year, he's gone.
  2. He's still young. He's getting better.
  3. Counsell or Lopez would get a few takers, though the returns for 40 games of either would be minimal.
  4. The main reason a team would trade for Hall is he'd have many suitors if he were available for the minimum. No utility IF's can hit, so his versatility, power, and past glory would have a dozen teams making him an offer of various merits (minor league deal, major league deal, maybe even a platoon spot). I've said it before and I'll say it again, if a team like KC signed Hall to be their everyday SS, there's not much downside to be had, as an occasional HR makes him very near league average for his position.
  5. If any current player hits .400, I think it will be Mauer. I think he's the best player in the game.
  6. Scooter sounds like he'll play SS for a while, and maybe make a move to 2B/3B when and if he needs to. He might just force his way into Appleton's lineup next season.
  7. Casey, only the Rambling wife is privy to such things.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  8. Games like tonight, he can goof up once in a while. The guy is a talent, that's for sure. As for the D'Backs, sounds like he was just the scapegoat...notice how they've tore it up since he left.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Bad teams always like to blame their crappy play on everything but a lack of talent.
  9. None of the call-ups will play much of a role, though in theory, a PH or PR could win a game. Mostly, it will be depth to add more choices off the bench, and pitchers to eat up meaningless innings in one-sided affairs. I have little doubt they'll bring up 5-8 players on 9/1, but if any were going to be major contributors, they'd be up now. Corporan must still be on the 40 to come up in September, but his ceiling is so limited, it seems strange.
  10. One, ARI is unlikely to offer Davis arby, as he'll make $10-12M if he'd accept. Two, it seems to me Davis is more likely to sign with the D'Backs if he's not dealt...his loyalty would be tested far more having played elsewhere than if he has only played in Phoenix. Maybe by "only" 10% or so, but that could easily be the difference between signing with ARI or just going to the highest bidder.
  11. I have little doubt Felipe has lapses. I also have no doubt he's playing at well less than 100%. They will not discuss the injury because it does no good, except give the other team the advantage, by knowing he is unlikely to run, unable to cover 1B w/o "cheating", and so on.
  12. It could be worse, Ramblings looks awful on any browser. It's almost become what it's known for. You know, "sure it looks bad, but the content sucks too!"
  13. I cannot imagine a scenario where the Crew did not claim him, only someone with fewer wins claimed him first.

  19. Small market teams do not pay reserves $7-8M to sit on the bench. JJ was gone before, and he certainly is now, barring injury.
  20. No one disputes Cameron plays the game extremely hard. Hardy simply seems a bit "weak", he and his brother (who went through a lot more than JJ) sitting through that summer years ago, missing many games with a "sore back", and so on. I think he may be having a rough year because he knows he's going to be dealt and having trouble focusing. Let's be honest, if Braun is "weak", no one cares, 'cause he's great. JJ too, until now. His comment about "the coaches staring at me" seemed very out of place from an adult too, grow up. As I have always said, I'd a lot rather have to settle guys down than motivate them. JJ seems more the latter. That's not really a criticism, as I'll take 25 guys who are lazy and really talented over 25 gritty, crappy players any day. JJ's an above average SS, and he'll be back in the bigs soon. Sadly, his trade value is minuscule now compared to LY.
  21. They'll bring him back on 9/1, to ensure the union does not file a grievance. I think that will be 19 days. Doug was not even sure of the amount of time, telling Tom H it was 18 or 20. Given Hardy's lack of anger about his demotion, gleefully accepting his 3 days of rest, I think it's safe to say he might lack a bit of fire, which I'm sure was noticed. I doubt anyone even noticed the service time until later, I never gave it a thought, thinking it was 30 days or less.
  22. I think they'll bring Kendall back to groom Salome, who'll play 30-40% of the time, in 2010.
  23. When I saw sequential, I thought of more of a traditional lineup...speedy, OBP guys at the top; high OBP, power guys 3-5, and so on. I have no idea what the stat guy meant though. As for Hardy, the only way they get a proven, 2/3 guy for him is if he's overpaid. Otherwise, one year of JJ is probably worth a "near ready" guy, but not a "proven" guy. If BOS was able to extend JJ, then he could in theory be worth Bucholtz, but if they would not deal Clay for Halladay, why Hardy?
  24. He's been swinging at a lot of pitches early in the count. Is he not thrilled about walking? Possibly, but unless he swings at bad pitches, and produces like he is, who cares?
  25. He may be the worst of the lot...and that's saying something. It's also funny, Cameron slid "over" the bag twice over the weekend, and it wasn't called either time, not did anyone even mention it. Just an ump trying to get on TV...the exact opposite of what a quality guy accomplishes, to never be noticed.
