  1. The wedding DJ is the only experience I have as well, and is also why I decided long ago weddings are for others. Chicken dance, macarena, Kool and the Gang's Celebration...it's like watching a repeat of a terrible sitcom over and over.
  2. Clipper set cost about $20, and my wife is the stylist I can flirt with if I desire. She uses the #2 out on the deck, where the wind makes my hair a green additive to the earth. Sometimes if it's a cold snowy winter, I'll go to the local chain and they'll take care of it because the wife says it's icky out.
  3. Bedard could take half the money to go somewhere else. And why would he resign with a team he'll have two months of time with? When you trade for a FA to be, you count on them being gone when they hit free agency.
  4. I don't see Huff as an upgrade over Hart, as his defense would be weak at best, horrible at worst.
  5. Markasis was there, and Braun's a few notches above him. I don't see Mauer that high, he's a FA soon.
  6. How does freezing the ball make it go further? Makes it harder? Sounds like the umps should have fixed this issue right away. From my experience, these guys are there for their $10-15 a game and give extremely minimal effort. If they're going to ignore the rules, the next step has to be the league commish and such. If they allow the umps to not enforce rules, I doubt anything will get done.
  7. No way Doug deals Hardy for 2 guys who will not contribute in '10.
  8. Counsell's OBP is superb. He's the least of the Crew's problems. I wish we had more guys like him.
  9. Cruz does make you take a second look at guys with two skills...power and defense. I thought Cruz might have a decent career if he played CF or as a platoon/reserve, but never saw this coming. Katin raises his OBP to .350 in AAA, he projects to about a .300/.475 guy, and especially while cheap, is a worthy skill set, especially as a RF with a good arm.
  10. They wouldn't love him when most runners went from 1B-3B on a single up the middle.
  11. Why is Pierre a better option than signing a FA for $10M per? Why is he a better option than a AAA vet who would give you 90% of Pierre's production for 5% of the cost. Unless the Dodgers take money back, I don't see any reason to go after Pierre.
  12. Whenever possible, go one year at a time with pitchers. Give Yo's youth, that goes double for him.
  13. Scrubs no. Average bats, certainly. An average offense will be 8th/9th in the league, and a duo of Ryan and Prince could easily take 6 average guys up to 3rd or 4th. I was reminded tonight of how young Prince is. I would not sign him long-term to 35, but 30-31 would be fine.
  14. Meche is owed a fortune, and has arm trouble in the past. Katin and Dillard have very limited value, like Zach Jackson last year in the CC deal. Throw in only.
  15. If Parra and Bush come back and pitch like they have in their careers, a run is very possible. The offense is 4th in the NL, even a league average staff would put them in contention.
  16. This is a team that is 42-32 (a 50 win pace, 5 games better than they are now) in games not started by Parra. They can easily make a run by replacing him or hoping he reverts back to career norms. They aren't in the AL East, so it is possible. Right now, I think Doug is going to wait and see if they have a run in them, as they might well be more than one player away. An 83 win season is not a contender, but a bit of improvement, 85-86, and they're right in it most years. That's where one guy might just be enough to put 'em over the top.
  17. Online poker, blogging, and playing with my 7 year-old son.
  18. I'm pretty sure that's another urban legend...Beane never said Prince was too fat, Lewis did. And since he married Tabitha Soren, I can't fathom arguing with him...
  19. Sure. It's bad baserunning, but it's not illegal. Guys go backwards to avoid tags all the time.
  20. The ump made it. The runner is allowed to run, not run, stand still, whatever.
  21. Pretyy much any trade that does not involve some combo of Escobar, Gamel, Lawrie, Hardy, or Hart fit the bill. Since all the discussion thus far has been prospects, those of us who have floated JJ and Corey as possible chips are likely equally incorrect. The Roto piece suggested the Crew would offer up all but the top 3, but that is even too little, it would appear.
  22. It'll be a minor league deal with a option to opt out if not in the bigs, I assume. Anyone would be lucky to get him if that's the case.
  23. TOR told LA that a deal had to include Kershaw or Billingsley. The idea that the Crew can throw the Jays some A ballers not in their top 10 is ludicrous.
  24. This is an urban legend, as it has never happened in the history of the Saints. Midway Stadium only holds about 7K, so it's all but impossible.
  25. Someone in SL told the media TOR was asking for their top 4-5 prospects. Those lists of A ballers (other than Lawrie) is just wishful thinking. Unless they want Hardy, or would agree to take less if someone takes Rios or Wells, he's only going for a monster package.
