  1. I think I said that at Ramblings about a week ago, but neither Davis or Lopez's names have even been floated on the market as of yet. Felipe even says he wants to stay, and both say they love ARI and want to sign long-term.
  2. If they have to add him to the 40, it will be very easy to not bring him up in September.
  3. DiFelice did not have bat splits in AAA because there are no LH bats with big pop in the minors, except for the rare Gamel type who has not been called up yet. When Brad Nelson and such are the big power bats to avoid, you'll have success, but that does not translate to the bigs. As I said, his splits versus major league LH hitters is atrocious, and he'd be lucky to make it through a lefty laden lineup as a SP. When you have the numbers right there, and still think maybe he'd have success, the only argument is that stats are meaningless. He's correctly placed as a righty specialist.
  4. I just looked it up, and Tesla also released a Love Song in 1989, just like The Cure. It was their biggest hit, topping at #10.
  5. Hardy will be dealt this offseason, and Escobar is untouchable. Prospects like Escobar are very rarely dealt, as every team hopes to have inexpensive, solid players like that. It's kind of hard to judge his value.
  6. He'd be a solid CF if he hit .300/.400, as his range is simply off-the-charts.
  7. DiFelice gets crushed by LH hitters, the only reason he has had success is being set-up properly in his career. Against a lefty heavy team, he'd be lucky to make it through 2-3 frames. Why would you start a guy who has a 1000+ OPSA vs southpaw bats? With the lack of SP's on the market, I think Doug will look for a veteran reliever, of which there may be a few available. As for Smith, he has good results, but sure gives up a lot of baserunners, basically pitching around most good hitters. I don't think he's earned any trust yet.
  8. The shadow is hidden by his body. How many "fakes" can he make? Looks real to me.
  9. Hardy is a FA after '10, while Escobar is under team control until at least after '15, and will be cheap for several years. Alcides has a ton more value right now.
  10. Neither one of those two have ever been discussed, and given their potential, probably will be starters next year and never will be.
  11. If you played in the AL, he'd be a nice backup C/DH. However, with no DH option, I'm not sure he has much value to a NL club, as he can't throw much NOW, never mind as he ages.
  12. No way he'll have success in the bigs until he learns to take some pitches and walks. Even a guy like Nelson Cruz, who lacked plate discipline despite success in AAA, took a ton of BB's compared to Katin. At best, he's a platoon mate as of now. He's so close to his peak, his window may close quickly.
  13. I believe only a couple games a year ever "sell out", meaning no more tiks are available. You can walk up and get a SRO ticket all but Opening Day and maybe one other game. I thought about driving down for the season finale last year, and they sold them right up to game time.
  14. Even worse than Brian's "divorce" is women who stay with men that abuse them, cheat on them, and so on. It's a head shaker.
  15. I think it's called overpoliteness.
  16. Jim, I was swore at several times by a gent yesterday as I stood in an apartment lobby waiting to be buzzed in. Let's be honest, if you are so undisciplined you have to curse on a daily basis, you lack most of the simple qualities to live a normal life. I went to Wed/Thurs games myself, and almost every idiot who knew nothing about baseball were the ones swearing, often several times in a sentence. It was oodles worse in the parking lot both before and after.
  17. To be blunt, it's not a "problem" at all, and never has been...MP is in its 9th season. It creates a bit of a sun field in LF, and shadows progress in the batting area as the game goes on. The Metrodome used to have a fly ball lost every night until they adjusted the lights, and now, it's still a once every couple weeks thing. Minute Maid has a hill and a flagpole in the field of play. Wrigley Field loses a ball in the weeds on the fence darn near daily. Needless to say, nothing is going to be done about reflections of the sun.
  18. Lark Voorhees, who played Lisa Turtle, was engaged to Martin Lawrence and had a drug problem after SBTB and the soap she was on. What's that old Dennis Miller saying, "No one ever finds Jesus on prom night?"...she likely found her cult after hitting rock bottom. Too bad, as she was as gorgeous as they get.
  19. Tom H was hours behind on both the CC trade and the other players. As always, he waited for official sources, and got scooped by the State Journal. The irony here is, he claimed to be right on top of it, and people still give him credit for it, even though he was painfully slow.
  20. I'm shocked Cruz is doing as well as he is. Some guys develop later, even guys with seemingly no plate discipline. He's a power/athletic guy, and he proves that those are tough to give up on. Even moreso, I believe he's a good enough defender to play CF. I'd still make that trade in a second, but he's doing far better than I would have guessed.
  21. Hawpe is the worst defensive OF in the game...yes, even worse than Dunn.
  22. I agree with fleehaw, he's as good as he's going to be, and he probably isn't much of an option at SS, based on his body type and the fact he's been playing 3B for most of the last decade. Low ceiling, McGehee type. That said, Casey has looked very good, and we can only hope he can be a cheap utility guy for a while.
  23. Moves like this are rare because of the money invested in a 1st rounder. He'll certainly has his choice of offers from other teams.
  24. 2 weeks is plenty, especially if you think they might tell you to leave prior. As for the others, short and sweet, and no discussion of what you're doing is necessary. Nothing wrong with a resignation letter either, if it's easier.
  25. I am not sure if I've ever seen a more painful, cliched opening than Conan running across America. You could literally hear remotes all over the nation clicking to another channel. Of course, the fact he went from New York City to Vegas while only hitting Chicago and St. Louis is 100% accurate in the eyes of the people on the coasts. I think the big winner will be Nightline, with Kimmel getting a bump, so he'll compete with the 2nd half of the others pretty evenly. And while I may be simply too old to understand him, every day that passes with Fallon hosting a show is one more day of proof that he has sold his soul. I'd rather watch someone kick a litter of puppies.
