  1. Weeks to Counsell (and I assume McGehee) is not a downgrade in OBP or defense, just in SLG. Delgado to Tatis/Murphy is a huge downgrade on offense, not sure about D. I'd say Winfield is very accurate. In fact, if Gamel plays more now, you could argue he'll replace some of the SLG, and the only downgrade will be the first 6-7 innings of defense at 3B versus RH pitchers.
  2. Seatjumping is not even mentioned, and for good reason...it blatantly violates Brewers' rules and should lead to ejections on the spot.
  3. If a pitcher had all quality starts, his ERA would probably be close to 3 or under. It's certainly not the be all, end all of stats, but it does help show consistency and durability. Suppan has 5 of 6 QS's in a row, as he missed one by one out, and his ERA is 2.92. Many let the "worst case" bother them, but the irony there is, a guy who throws 200 innings and has a 4.50 ERA makes about $10M a year. I wish I was that guy.

  6. After a certain point, say the 5th inning, I don't have a problem with it. Spreading out into an emptier section that cost the same or less is fine too. It sucks though when you pay $32 for a good seat and some 8 year-old sits in front of you the whole game w/o a ticket.
  7. Deadspin's comments seems to echo my 9-1 ratio of hatred...though Deadspin allows profanity. I don't think he'll be happy much longer...
  8. I just got an e-mail asking where someone should write to the Brewers if they are tired of this person stealing baseballs from the bullpen, seatjumping, and the like, all of which he freely admits to on his blog. When it's all said and done, he might not be allowed to do such crap anymore, or at very least, brag about it. I can't believe all the rules violations he has freely put out for the world to see. He's a blatant example of the type of fan that no one wants in Miller Park, and he's done it all to himself, rather than taking the 5th. He reminds me of the guy who outs himself in Legally Blonde, but the irony is, he wasn't even tricked into doing so by the sharp wit of Reese Witherspoon's character.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  9. Small sample overreaction is indeed quite funny. Thank goodness Doug is in charge, and not a "sky is falling", shortsighted fella.
  10. Now that he's admitted to theft and seat jumping on his blog, I have to believe his right to attend games is seriously at risk, especially if he's a season ticket holder. He has a serious sense of entitlement, and as pointed out above, has broken many written and unwritten rules, and, at best, showed himself to be totally clueless, as he portrays himself as a hero, while 91% of the poll takers on Ramblings thinks he's in need of help. He's not a good person, his actions are offensive, and he, due to his fame, is now the face of the Brewers' fan to many. Nothing good has come out of this, and I sure hope he suffers from his admitted bad behavior soon.
  11. I think his behavior speaks for itself. He's not out drinking and driving or beating his wife, but needless to say, most regular folks would be embarrassed to act like that or see their kids acting like that. My son found something out on our lawn the other day and went right over to the neighbor's house and gave it back to the 5 year-old who left it there. He easily could have kept it, neither my wife or I ever would have known. I always let him pick out 1 or 2 things at the dollar store, we can't keep track of his cheap crap. He didn't even ask for an autograph or another toy in trade.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  12. I don't get the Super 2 discussion, barring injury, he'll be up for no more than a few weeks. As Briggs points out, they did this with Prince as well.
  13. He can get RH's out, but will probably struggle versus LH's. His splits indicate that, and Macha likes using both he and Coffey when righties are coming up. It's astounding he has one pitch, and they still flail at it.
  14. I don't like wine at all, but "Two Buck Chuck", a wine that sells for $2 in CA has won competitions, so it is not necessary to pay much for quality wine. The difference is often just marketing.
  15. Are June games to be added in a while as well?
  16. McClung is probably in the top 5 of "6th starters" in MLB right now. I can see a CC type top guy being added in July, I don't see a middling fella like Penny being brought in, barring injuries of course.
  17. A tiny sample out of a small sample doesn't indicate much, but Briggs is correct that if Braun or Hart go down for 3 weeks, there is not much of a replacement in house.
  18. <<>> Hinske's major league numbers are not that far from Nelson's AAA ones. If you're looking at Brad getting 100 AB's as a PH and once every couple weeks as a LF/RF, that's fine. If you need a guy to cover for Braun or Hart if they pull a hammy, I'd feel much better with Hinske out there.
  19. Once Corporan is off the 25 man, he can be removed from the 40 to clear a spot. Not sure if they'll use it on Hacker, but some team will have to take a kid off with a future at some point, so it's good to have a spot open. I don't think Green would even be in the bottom 2-3. Also, they might have to make a decision on Chris Smith soon, as he may well have an out if he's not on the 40. Many quality pitchers are able to get that even with a minor league deal.
  20. Kennedy is only 24, and has had incredible success in AAA. If he can get healthy again, he'll make millions. A guy like Bush or even Suppan is not a bad comparison...heaven forbid he be a solid SP for 5-10 years in MLB. He's unlikely to be a high ceiling guy like Yo, but few are.
  21. <<>> Theriot got to the ball very quickly. Braun would not have been halfway to 2B and would have been out by 30 feet.
  22. There's no way Gamel as a rookie will be able to even remotely come close to Hall's numbers versus LHP (.357/.501 career). If Billy is healthy and still on the team, it will be a platoon, be it '09 or '10. Contenders don't hand a rookie a job just to do so when a better option is available. Versus southpaws, Hall is the guy.
  23. I think Joe is right, many look only at Nelson's 2008 and not his other years in AAA because the results were not good. He was not young for his level, so it's tough to ignore them. An 800 OPS in AAA is weak for a 1B/OF. Nix can play CF, so that's a huge difference. Nelson seems to project as a reserve, and has had one decent PA thus far. Other than that, he's Mr. Swing at Everything, never heard of a walk, and tries to pull the outside pitch. He's earned his terrible numbers. Meanwhile, though Duffy hasn't hit much, he has good AB's, walks some, and looks to have a clue. Who would have thought Chris would be the better choice for offense and defense in the battle of the reserve OF's.
  24. Ray, a look at the balance sheet should tell you whether or not bankruptcy is close. Shoot me an e-mail or PM me here if you are not sure what to look for.
  25. I've been comparing Torri and Mike for a long time. Cam has always been underrated due to his playing in pitcher's parks, hence his career road splits are so much better.
