  1. RD, pre-approved cards turning you down when you apply? That must be like a kick in the old crotch...as a lawyer, shouldn't you be able to sue 'em for something.?http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  2. Well, if his floor is Matt Kinney, that's not a bad starting point.
  3. Other than the dozens of credit cards and mortgage offers I get each week, I guess credit is dead.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Layaway is not going to catch on again, but I'm sure a few folks will try and push it. About 50-70% of all purchases are made by credit/debit card, so going after that 30% seems short-sighted.
  4. Maybe that's what hit the pentagon...they store the bodies at Area 51.
  5. Just one, right Choi? And again, why would a Bigfoot live only where there was no people...they have no reason to be scared of them, as no one has ever shot one, right?
  6. Yep, "unidentified" is a part of UFO. If you ever take a look at a map of military bases and a map of UFO sightings, they are very similar. Considering the population masses all over the nation and world, the odds of alien ships avoiding them while continuing to land in remote locations full of uneducated goofballs claiming to be probed and transported, and missing 48 hours of memory seems slim.
  7. The Popular Mechanics stuff is very well done, I've linked to it many times. They update it once a year or so, with the latest flavor of the month.
  8. That's why he may be available cheaply. Projecting involves looking at the future, not the past. Given his age and skills, he screams out "sleeper" to me. It's like in another thread we had someone asking about Span...the time to get Span was when he sucked in '07, not when he broke out in '08.
  9. MIN does not really know what to do with power hitters, they had Ortiz hitting to 2B to advance the runner. I'd like to say I had him breaking out, but really, I just had him continuing to produce like he had with the Twins. The rest was just a young player getting better.
  10. Because pitchers are riskier, as you stated. Giving up a position player for a pitcher is especially dangerous, that's why you often see a trade like Garza/Young and the first thought is, Garza is a great young pitcher...that's because Garza is better, but has more risk. That's why the idea of trading a proven SS like Hardy for a young arm whose talent is higher than his production is so offensive to me.
  11. Escobar will not be sitting on the bench in '09, and probably not ever.
  12. As stated, Bud's done all he can. As Ben showed, no team is dominating, or even much better than the rest. One not need look past the Yankees of the 50's, or even the Reds of the 70's to see how unusual this is for the sport.
  13. You know, many people lost family and friends on the plane that hit the Pentagon...what happened to them if the plane did not crash? I realize some people feel that a plane would leave a cartoon like outline in a building specially designed to withstand such attacks...but you know, I can't prove the world is round either, but I'm sure not going to explain to some moron who "just don't get it" either.
  14. I'd say Gamel because he fits the LH bat need, and also gives them time to decide what to do with JJ.
  15. Those are rather weak "criticisms" to say the least. If anything, I'd say it proves my point players should shut up and play.
  16. Can someone please tell me where the Kendall statements are that spoke poorly of Macha? I cannot find them.
  17. Kat, I meant WI by "here".
  18. If you run like me, a .400 OBP won't help. Doug is making the correct point that a slightly higher OBP doesn't make up for Stairs speed (versus Weeks' speed or Cameron/Molitor excellent baserunning). I'm not sure what the confusion is either.
  19. Why would Bigfoots stay in remote areas? They would move just like bears, wolves, and so on, to find stuff to eat. Seems likely we would have found skeletal remains of one by now, they can't live forever. Area 51 is a military base. They employ oodles of Vegas area folks, fly them in every day. It's where they test planes, radar, and other "stuff".
  20. My poker table keeps popping up, so my first 2 attempts were 200+. Of course, I'm not sure what a parallelogram is...
  21. The Crew would get NY's 2nd round pick and a pick after the 1st round.
  22. I don't see a spot for Hall, unless as a utility guy. To many teams, he'd be an improvement at 2B or SS, especially in a lefty heavy lineup or HR friendly park. He's overpaid a bit, but only by $2M or so a year.
  23. Considering what Doug said today, I can't believe he's better than Gamel.
  24. As SP depth, he's a very good pickup...does he have options? Supposedly, he and Nate Robertson were the unluckiest pitchers in MLB last year.
  25. Only thing I would add is that it sounds like Weeks, JJ, and Escobar or Gamel are 3 of the IF's if the season started tomorrow. The Brewers scored the 2nd most runs in the leadoff spot in the NL, so tough to see that as a problem, Doug said. Specifically said a .365 or .370 OBP guy with no speed has struggled to score many runs when tried. Probably the most bullish thing said was Gamel being as good as any LH hitting 3B that may be available, or hinted at.
