  1. Bowden Francis has given up zero hits and one walk through 6 against the Mets.
  2. I've never been very high on him, mainly because of his many injuries. I'm surprised that his whiff rate is so high, because my biggest complaint about him is how many times he is caught looking. Too many strikeouts for my taste, without enough of the reward of home runs. The uncertainty about Yelich makes that outfield depth from last year seem like a mirage. Add in Frelick's pop gun of a bat, and I will say that Mitchell, Frelick and Wiemer are less than what I hoped for at the beginning of 2023. Thank god for Chourio. And Blake Perkins.
  3. I'm going to hope for a Winker-like resurgence in the second year after surgery.
  4. Come on, man. Give them some credit. Fans will get tight, I don' t think the players will.
  5. Vid upload didn't work like I wanted.
  6. Merrill can be ROY, and Chourio can be WS MVP.
  7. Where is exit velocity measured? Cause that 100 mph exit velocity with a -7 degree launch angle wasn’t going that fast when it got to Willy on the fifth bounce. im not even sure exit velocity is an indicator of much when it’s pounded down like that.
  8. The best part for me is that it is all coming from posters who, as a group, largely predicted this team wouldn't even have a winning record, and now are worried that a top-2 seed is slipping away. Because Murphy can't coach, or the team can't hit, or the bullpen is tired, or something. All of this in spite of 130+ games that largely say otherwise. Last night sucked. I was texting unhinged stuff to a friend instead of commenting here because I was using a lot of words that wouldn't get past Brock's filters. The Brewers just needed ONE GUY to make contact with RISP, and they all failed. But the pitching gave up three runs, kept them in the game as they have all season long. Maybe the team needs to get blown out a few times so we don't get so gut-punched by these one-run or extra-inning losses all of the time.
  9. God, this sucks. Put a ball in play, somebody!
  10. Really hard to get excited when Frelick bats
  11. Peguero determined to see Goldschmidt this inning
  12. No, just no. Teams would find a way to game it. Is it only for an injury that happens in September? Or anything after the trade deadline? And why only one? Every team out of the playoffs would look at their list of players about to become a free agent and get something for them if they could. Because they could turn around and re-sign the free agent in November. If the Giants offered you Blake Snell because he's an impending free agent, would you put your fifth starter on the injured list and send a lottery ticket to SF? If Monasterio got "hurt", could the Brewers work a trade for Matt Chapman? Can you imagine the commissioner's office defining "crucial"? Woodruff's injury was announced on October 2, the eve of the playoffs. Would you allow the Brewers to make a trade at that point? Could the Mets dump Pete Alonso if they fell out of the wild card and then re-sign him as a free agent in a month, essentially renting him to another team? Another Dickie Noles being traded for a PTBNL that turned out to be...Dickie Noles. I hate this. Apologies if I misunderstood what Showalter was proposing.
  13. Bryan Reynolds game-tying "Willy" (that's my term for a three-run homer) would have only been a homer in one park. Wrigley. That's a shame.
  14. You predicted 82, give yourself some credit.
  15. Not sure where to put this. Depending on the value a team places on getting the top seed, there are 8 NL teams who will have to keep playing to the end. The three division leaders, of course, trying to be top 2. Then the five wild card teams (AZ, SD, ATL, NYM, CHC) will be jockeying for position. Could be a great month.
  16. 7-9 more years of this??? Yes please!
  17. Hoskins on third? Will make for an interesting contact play
  18. Willy grounds out with two on. What have you done for me lately, you bum?
  19. 16-10. 2nd seed
  20. 19-9. What an awesome month. Only one person bold enough to predict it.
