  1. Okay, no one started this one, so I will. Rough July. 11-13, 4-8 at home(!), 7-5 on the road. Mar/Apr 18-11 May 16-12 June 16-11 July 11-13 August has 28 games scheduled, including a doubleheader at Cincinnati at the end of the month. @Was 3 @ATL 3 Cin 3 LAD 4 Cle 3 @StL 3 @Oak 3 SFG 3 @Cin 3 (4th game in the series on 9/1) 15 away, 13 home. I'll go 16-12. They need to play at least that well. If they do, they will be 18 over .500 beginning in September. Then, if they played .500 in September, they would have 90 wins. StL and Pit would need to go 34-19 the rest of the way to catch them.
  2. Please don't bring up 2014. Now I need a paper bag to breathe into.
  3. I missed it, how bad was the Ortiz error?
  4. And then they small ball the Brewers right back. This is just too hard to watch.
  5. The lack of power is startling. 2 runs on three singles, a walk, and a sac fly completely negated by two Atlanta solo homers.
  6. Brewers scored first!? Hallelujah! Time for the old double-steal with Roadrunner Rhys and Speed Sanchez on base.
  7. Anyone else having trouble with the Bally app? I was forced to take an update before watching and it is freezing constantly.
  8. Maybe, just maybe, this had something to do with it? Would be a shame if, you know, Flaherty had to miss a few starts. Or the season. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/07/yankees-reportedly-backed-out-of-jack-flaherty-trade-following-medical-review.html "According to Rosenthal, word spread around the league that the Yankees had concerns regarding Flaherty’s medicals in the run-up to the deadline, although the only other team to actually see those medicals for themselves was the Dodgers."
  9. They take on more money than any other franchise, so they have to give up less capital in prospects. Always.
  10. If Montas pitched 5.1 or 5.2 innings and gave up 3 runs, how would you feel? That's a 5 ERA. I will take that. Then the bats can come back from their slow start and 3-0 deficit against the other team's bullpen while Mears and company shut down the opponents. A quality start, defined as 6 innings with 3 runs or fewer, would leave a pitcher with a 4.5 ERA if they gave up three runs every time. Would you think that was a good pitcher? The Brewers have done well with starters (and openers) who hang in there and keep the team in the game.
  11. Wiemer is from Michigan, played at U of Cincinnati. He played for the Bedford Kicking Mules in high school. His career will be helped by access to Skyline Chili 24/7.
  12. More of this, please, starting today: https://www.google.com/search?q=ozuna+defense&rlz=1C1RXQR_enUS954US954&oq=ozuna+defense&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOTIICAEQABgWGB4yCggCEAAYgAQYogTSAQgzNzA2ajBqN6gCALACAA&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:7683bd66,vid:5IlxnBiEsC4,st:0
  13. None of those facts mattered in Immaculate Grid yesterday. You can see why I was surprised he didn’t have 2000 hits in his career.
  14. 7-3 in their last 10. What record would a good team have? 11-0?
  15. Mears pitches like Mariano Rivera and Bruce Sutter’s love child on steroids
  16. Where was Mitchell? It hit your foot! Say something!
  17. Anything that flies that far ought to have a stewardess on it
  18. At least Captain Caveman is out of the game
  19. Fedde is signed through 2025 at 7.5mil next year. That isn't a rental.
  20. July 29: Red Sox acquire RHP Quinn Priester from Pirates for INF Nick Yorke Given the recent Pirate history of trading away pitching, I expect Priester to become a Cy Young candidate.
  21. OK, spoiler alert: Detroit has a statue of Hank Greenberg at their park. I had my picture taken next to it. He is shown hitting a baseball. Today I learned, to my chagrin, that he only had 1628 hits. I just assumed he would have easily cleared the 2000-hit bar, even with his military service. Did i mention he has a statue?!?!!
  22. Forgive me if I just missed it, but where is this guy? I know he was added to the 40-man, but is he with the team and available?
