  1. I want the same guy who negotiated the Arenado deal to STL to be in the room for the McMahon deal. I want him to give us the same sweet deal he gave the cards. Colorado is still paying some of that salary.
  2. From what I’ve learned from tv ads, call it the Peyronie. It bends and is painful.
  3. The move would be to shut woodruff down and have him start opening day. No chance to get injured in practice
  4. I’m getting so tired of the turnover talk. They are turning it over at a similar, almost identical, pace to other years. Given that they are averaging more points and more possessions per game, I think it’s worth it. Faster pace brings with it the risk of more turnovers. They have averaged between 8.7 and 10.1 turnovers every year for the past 5. Might as well complain about missing free throws.
  5. They had 72 possessions last night. That is above average. I don’t know how much crossover this BF group of posters has with Buckyville, but there is fantastic analysis of each game. Posters Turomon and Formerly BIS (someone new, EdBadger, did last night’s game) have tons of good data. Worth checking out. The rest of the site is a lot of shouting, but that postgame thread is gold if you like data. https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/buckyville/illinois-round-2-observations-t107467.html#p2477208
  6. That’s World Series Champion Glenn Braggs to you. I was so bummed when he and Billy Bates went to Cincinnati for Ron Robinson (beardless). According to the internet: The trade helped propel the Reds to win the 1990 World Series.
  7. Regardless, I think we will continue to be happier with the results of games than we will be with the decisions of recruits. on another note, I was under the impression that foreign players could not receive NIL in their student visas. They say Edey, as a Canadian, could get money from Canadian companies, but not US. My extensive four minutes of internet research hasn’t answered the question.
  8. I would have thought back to back final fours with the most efficient offense in the history of tracking that would have helped recruiting but it didn’t. Zrno committing to lame-duck Woodson was a head scratcher. but, what a game! Double-digit win at Mackey? Amazing
  9. I’m not a De Jong fan. How do you view him vs what Josh Donaldson offered two years ago? I was a little excited about that signing.
  10. This is the point for me. I will pass on a grade because I have no idea. The conundrum for me is this: I think that the Hoskins deal is limiting their options, and if he had worked out, we wouldn’t feel as if the Brewers needed to make a move. But because he didn’t play very well, we want them to make another Hoskins-sized splash, which they can’t because Hoskins belly flopped instead. i hate that I see a lot riding on Rhys Hoskins. I will also bet on Woodruff not contributing much. More than a third of the payroll on those two players.
  11. Blackwell is probably my favorite player (on a team where I like ALL of the players), even though he's a little loose with the ball, and that's not ideal. Last night was not his best, but his drives in the second half were critical to getting the team out of 3pt launch mode after their hot start.
  12. I am surprised that a win over NW moved the Badgers up three spots in the Net Rankings. They are up to 16 now. They are up to 13 in KenPom. It's a big move to make 20 games in. These rankings really value offensive efficiency more than defense, it would seem. If you hit your numbers (spread, total), you will not fall. In past years, Iowa's offense has kept them above the UW despite records and head to head saying otherwise.
  13. This. How about Black just comes up and hits from the beginning. He could turn Hoskins into a bench player if he doesn’t OPS .561 again when he gets a chance. All of this discussion over a guy who has zero value if he’s not hitting. You could ride out Turang’s struggles because of his glove. Black has to hit the ground running.
  14. Damn, where’s your optimism?
  15. I'm really down on Max. 1 of 8? I just don't believe it's going in when he shoots it. And if that's how you are shooting from the floor, don't miss both of your free throws. That was such a typical Maryland game. Second half fouls, handsy defense, a guard getting hot (and banking in a three). I mean take your pick. Klesmit's shooting, team missing four of first six free throws, I think the radio postgame said they were 9 of 22 on layups, officials deciding that charges were going to be a thing again, Blackwell not a good enough PG to handle it against their defense, it was just not their night. Maryland is a good team.
  16. I'm nodding and stroking my chin thoughtfully as I read this.
  17. Public Service Announcement to chew your food well, people!
  18. Right, and Zach Baun played quarterback in high school. I just don't think that Blackwell has the handle that you want a Big 10 PG to have. He's great, probably my favorite player, but it's a shortcoming we have to live with because the rest of his game is so good.
  19. Is the hot seat always hot, even in the storage closet? Or do you have to heat it when you bring it out? Because if I was LaFleur and I saw the hot seat pulled out of the closet, maybe plugged in to heat it up, I would be concerned. I definitely wouldn't sit in it if I were him. Next, perhaps you could answer my questions about playing smashmouth football, which I think would be a penalty, probably for hands to the face.
  20. The highlighted is what I consider to be the problem with Blackwell. I don't think he is that strong with the ball. It comes from not really being a point guard, but I think asking him to play like McGee is a potential problem.
  21. Nope. I asked a question. You feel lied to. That seems like dealbreaker to me.
  22. So what keeps you here?
  23. Well, that settles it. Pat should have set us straight earlier.
  24. I know it is only one year, but it really seems as if the Big10 and SEC really devalued their conference championship games. Boise and ASU needed them to make the playoff, but OSU and ND probably enjoyed the week off. And all four bye teams losing just makes the whole thing seem off.
  25. JFC, you called the game over when it wasn't. Doesnt' matter the sport. The game wasn't over. When the Rams were on the 13 with 1:14 left, you were sure it was over? Rams were out of their element? They drove 60 yards in ten plays, and that means "the Rams couldn't do a thing"?
